We had to check in late and the staff went above and beyond to contact us and make sure we knew what to do after the office closed for the night. We stayed at Moose Creek that was right on the golf course near The Strip, but managed by Stonebridge. It was homey, comfy, plenty of space, a game room for our kids, and close to everything. So glad that we rented through Stonebridge since we heard horror stories about nightly rentals managed by Thousand Hills. Now we can't wait to go back. Thank you for an awesome vacation, Stonebridge!!

We had a family vacation to celebrate my 60th birthday, with the 2 upper & lower screened in porches, we had different areas to fit us all. There was plenty of parking and we all loved walking down to pond and pool area just right out our cabin door. The only negative, there were a couple pillows on couch, & the back of couch where the back pillow is attached were torn & had holes in them. We took pictures on day of our arrival to show we did not do it. But with so many people renting the cabins you can expect some wear & tear. We had a fabulous time

The water shoes in the shop were a fair price. The large cabin was perfect, being close to the main cabin. I would've preferred having outlets where we slept, which was the pullout couch under the stairs.

Overall, I recommend this campsite. I booked this last minute, so one of the few spots that were…read moreopen was at the late night loop. The noise ordinance is midnight for the rest of the campsite other than the late night loop which is 2 AM (or at least that's when things got quiet). Our campsite had great shade but wasn't on the water (late night loop 104) but was near the bathroom which I appreciated. The showers and toilets could be cleaner but I feel like there is only so much they can do with the amount of lake swimming and sheer amount of folks using the restrooms. I definitely recommend water shoes not only for the lake but also the showers. Although I brought supplies for making French press coffee, I ended up getting an iced late at the coffee shop in the main office. We had some of the breakfast buffet (carton eggs, sausage, hashbrowns) and it was all pretty good. We signed up for a glow tube night trip on Friday and a float trip on Saturday. Both were fun but I don't think I'd need to do 2 float trips in a weekend in the future. The resort drops you off at the tubing drop site up the river and you end either at the resort or a mile up the river where they'll bus you back. It's pricey but it does include a lot of amenities and is definitely a one stop shop for tubing. I think next year we'll look into the cabins or pods. ;tldr it's pricey but you get hot showers, toilets, coffee, and busing for the float trips built in. Late night loop is rowdy so if you want something more quiet, consider avoiding this area.

This place has 4 wood cabins all built by "Pop". We called him papa smurf as he dropped in with a…read morebig white beard and funny personality. He was really friendly and chatted with us for 20 minutes or so. Each cabin is pretty much the same. The ground level has a nice sized bathroom, kitchen/living area with a full bed and a twin bed. Window units keep the downstairs nice and cool. Upstairs is accessed by an almost vertical staircase. Several in our group wouldn't even attempt to climb up and take a peek. My partner and I slept upstairs in the full bed. The stairs are in roughly the middle breaking the upstairs into a small maybe 8 x 9 room with a twin bed and window ac unit and a larger room with a full bed. My only complaint is that this larger area wasn't cooled well as the only ac was from the other end mostly blocked by the stairwell wall. The cabin was nice and clean. I would consider it average construction. The cabins are located several hundred feet from the river. We walked down and vegged out in the river on our first night here. We floated the James River and did have to drive over to James River Outfitter's as it's just a little far to walk. Overall, I'd definately stay here again, reasonable price, clean and secluded.

We would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quasi-rustic rural getaway. Customer service was great. Very hands-off. Spoke with the owners via telephone a couple times... exceptionally friendly. River was fairly high while we were there. Access to the river was a little tough - bank was super muddy and slippery. Use caution. We found quite a ticks on us and our equipment, so pack heavy duty bug spray. Bring your own firewood - we couldn't find much in town or around on the property. Overall, good stay. We'll be back.

I would not recommend this business unless you are looking for a quiet Christian retreat for…read moremeditation only. Our group was there to canoe the river and had stayed under the previous owners. Not a place for those getting away and having a fun weekend. Nowhere that I could find on their website was their list of rules unless they are buried deep. We rented two cabins for our group and I'll start with the condition. Our cabin had a wasp nest upstairs and we killed several. The air conditioners, while fairly new, are inadequate to keep the cabins cool. The other cabin had no hot water. Stairs leading up the porch are bad. Now for the rules, we managed to break them all. 1. No pets. I agree not a place for them however you better hope a stray doesn't show up or you will be blamed for having them. We were and we had none. 2.Quiet time between 10 pm and 8 am. This means you better be inside your cabin at 10 and not on the porch or at a picnic table talking. We broke this one because we were enjoying the evening and conversation with friends. We weren't loud and you couldn't hear anyone outside anyway because of the noise of the ac. 3.No driving on the grass, granted we did break this one but we went down a gravel road then followed the tree line to get to the river across the field. In our defense there was already a car there when we arrived so thought it was ok. 4. No excessive drinking. What is their definition of excessive? We were called on this one because we had a couple of beer boxes sitting on the porch after we left to canoe the river for the day. 5. This one grosses me out. We had to remake the beds EXACTLY as we found them. Makes me wonder if they change the sheets between guests. Yep, we broke this one because we stripped the sheets then put the comforter back in place. Our group will not be back, after being told all of the above we felt like little kids being reprimanded.

However, it is inexpensive, everyone who works there smiles and greets you, it is clean, when I have encountered problems the staff are always quick to fix it and the beds are comfortable at least for me. I love the balconies and the ability to sit outside. The shuttle to the park is wonderfully easy and convenient and the gentleman who drives is a genuine sweetheart! I think he's been driving every time I've been there for the last three years and he is careful to check who he takes to the park so that he can make sure he brings them back at the end of the day. We came with a group of people and spent a couple of evenings in the third floor common room. There was another group there playing games and watching television, perhaps a bit loud, but no one ever came to say anything and they never got so loud that my friends couldnt hear one another. The common room is an unusual and fun addition to a hotel. In summary, if you are looking for modern shiny amenities and picture perfect rooms this may not be for you. If you're looking for a family-friendly, comfortable room though, it is perfect. Next year's visit already booked!
