I really loved the amenities such as pizza and firewood delivery. The pizza tastes like buffet pizza. Sweet crust and greasy, everything you need after a long float trip. The water shoes in the shop were a fair price. The large cabin was perfect, being close to the main cabin. I would've preferred having outlets where we slept, which was the pullout couch under the stairs. read more

Overall, I recommend this campsite. I booked this last minute, so one of the few spots that were open was at the late night loop. The noise ordinance is midnight for the rest of the campsite other than the late night loop which is 2 AM (or at least that's when things got quiet). Our campsite had great shade but wasn't on the water (late night loop 104) but was near the bathroom which I appreciated. The showers and toilets could be cleaner but I feel like there is only so much they can do with the amount of lake swimming and sheer amount of folks using the restrooms. I definitely recommend water shoes not only for the lake but also the showers. Although I brought supplies for making French press coffee, I ended up getting an iced late at the coffee shop in the main office. We had some of the breakfast buffet (carton eggs, sausage, hashbrowns) and it was all pretty good. We signed up for a glow tube night trip on Friday and a float trip on Saturday. Both were fun but I don't think I'd need to do 2 float trips in a weekend in the future. The resort drops you off at the tubing drop site up the river and you end either at the resort or a mile up the river where they'll bus you back. It's pricey but it does include a lot of amenities and is definitely a one stop shop for tubing. I think next year we'll look into the cabins or pods. ;tldr it's pricey but you get hot showers, toilets, coffee, and busing for the float trips built in. Late night loop is rowdy so if you want something more quiet, consider avoiding this area. read more

This is my husband and I's second trip to the resort. This year we opted for the Pod lodging and the 8 mile float. The pods were adorable and located right next to the water, we loved drinking our morning coffee on our tiny porch. The weather was perfect for our 8 mile float which was relaxing and so much fun as always. Post float we opted for steak dinners right outside of the convenience store. The steaks were perfectly cooked and tender enough to cut with plastic silverware. Overall we absolutely love coming here for weekends away and highly recommend. read more

This seems to be the areas largest float trips and campgrounds. We saw Kozy Kampgrounds and 2 Sons nearby. There is campsite delivery of firewood and pizza. Nice. The campers seemed to be drinking and having a great time. I wouldn't bring my kids here on the weekend. Restrooms are near sign in; decide how close you need to be to the restrooms and showers. The staff is happy and genuine. The area is clean but bring your shower shoes and 2 quarters for shower. We went in 8 mi canoe trip and were only ones out there on level 2 Elk River. The upgrade for seat cushions and back rests were immediately appreciated. Clear water, plenty of wildlife. I met Able who gave me some sunscreen. Hey Mgt, this guy went above and beyond with helping me out! Drop off employees didn't care my sunscreen was empty, but Able saved me. The 8 mi didn't take us long. Happy we did longer route. So for 2 nights of primitive camping with no electricity, and 8 mile canoe for two people was $100. Worth the money. Great time read more

We stayed here for the first time Aug 19-20. Friends invited us on a float trip and our group included 5 kids. We booked over the phone with no issues, the girl we spoke with was very informative and polite. We opted for tent camping with electricity. Upon checking in, the staff was very helpful and explained everything clearly. The store is big, has a lot of apparel, food, drinks, etc for sale but on the higher end. I recommend buying your drinks and food elsewhere based on price. They also serve coffee and have a morning breakfast buffet. We set up camp and were greeted by another staff member making sure we had the right campsite and that everything met our expectations. They have plenty of bathrooms and shower stalls available, be sure to wear flip flops in the showers! There were also a lot of bugs in the outside sinks but that's to be expected. Could have been kept up a little better overall. The staff did make their rounds every morning to empty everyone's trash bins. They have plenty of buses to take groups to their float destination so thankfully we didn't have to wait longer than 10 minutes for our ride. The staff helping us load our things into the bus were welcoming and helpful. We did the 8-mile float which was a lot of fun (and work). Depending on the water levels, they may have to close down the 8-mile run therefore only having the 5 and 1 mile runs available. Important things to note: Quiet hours in our area were from 11pm-7am. Staff would ride around the area to make sure that rule was followed. Children under 38" are not allowed to float. They offer 4-10 person rafts, single and tandem kayaks, 2-person canoes and single person tubes. Everyone camping/glamping nearby was respectful, there were definitely parties happening but nothing crazy. There were also a good amount of kids here as well. Happy to say we had a good stay and it is family friendly. We plan on coming back again. read more

Has a great time floating the Elk River this weekend with a handful of my college buddies. The water was flowing nicely and the crowds were too bad. We did the 5mi float in kayaks and had a blast. We had such a fun weekend here! And for a pretty decent price too. Obviously, the float itself was wonderful and River Ranch was accommodating to any and all of our needs, but beyond that, their food was surprisingly great. In the morning, they had a breakfast buffet for $8 that has eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits and gravy. The coffee, not so great, but it's better than nothing. And at night, they make and will even deliver delicious pizza to your campsite. They will also bring you any firewood you might need to your campsite. read more

Two words: exceeds expectations. We took a float trip here on July 3, 2014. This isn't just a shack with a couple of beat-up, overpriced, old canoes like you find in a lot of areas. This is a large, well-organized operation with plenty of nice equipment and converted school busses to transport you to your destination. They also have a campsite and a really impressive camp store. Seriously, forget the stop at Walmart. Their store has everything you need. Competitive prices and a really nice selection of water shoes, clothes, camping equipment, snacks, and liquor. They have a small restaurant on site too and advertise that they can deliver pizza to your campsite. After browsing websites from various outfitters in the area, we chose this place to take a canoe float trip. Their website is well-designed, their prices are clearly indicated, slightly better than other places and they have special weekday rates. They transport you upstream to begin your trip so you end up back at camp whereas some of the others make you wait for a ride back to your vehicle at the end. Renting the canoe was easy. I called ahead, but no reservations were necessary. With it being July 3rd, I half expected them to charge us the more expensive weekend/holiday rate, but nope, we still got the regular weekday canoe rate of $16 each. Kayaks were available but more expensive. We opted for the 5 mile/2 - 4 hour trip which, as advertised, ending up taking us 2 hours and 20 minutes with us paddling most of the time. You could certainly stretch it out if you stopped and/or just floated. The river is super clear, and deep enough for the canoe, but not so terribly deep that you couldn't see the bottom for most of it. There are plenty of places where you could swim or fish. We saw lots of fish and turtles. The river was really clean too. Aside from a beer can here or there we really didn't see much trash. They even provided everyone with mesh trash sacks so it looks like that is paying off. We can't wait to come on another float trip here! read more

My family and I have never had any complaints about River Ranch Resort. They have a friendly staff and fast service! Last weekend, we tried the outfit directly across the river, Wayside campgrounds. I lost my oar and they charged us $75. I called them the next day to ask for leniency. She spoke sternly, said I signed an agreement, and wouldn't budge. I called River Ranch, they charge $15 or $25 (don't remember which) for a lost oar. I called Wayside back, she wouldn't budge on the fee, reminded me of the agreement, and hung up on me! We stayed in a cute little mostly soundproof glamping pod which was fairly clean and the bed was not bad. There are 5 or 6 pods that all share toilets and showers behind an open fire pit. The problem was the fire pit was next to a dead tree.. hello fire danger! Also... this place could be so cute if there weren't cigarette butts and cans on the ground. Perhaps put in a smoking area... hmmm! Did I mention the showers and bathrooms?? A once a day wipe down from the staff would be nice and a soap dispenser on the wall would have been amazing!! I learned the hard way the first time I used a bathroom and it ran out of toilet paper AND had no soap!!! I know this is camping but this place has soooooo much potential to be adorable with fresh paint! Less weeds, dead trees gone and a once a day cleaning of the shared facilities! Was going to stay here and spend several thousand dollars with them for a cabin , but after speaking with someone and rather rudely being directed to the website just to find out there was a completely asinine breed ban in place , we chose to take our money elsewhere to a competitor who has accommodations just as nice , without the stuck up attitude towards certain breeds they deem to be scary and not family friendly . I will not be attempting to return to this location, and I will post to all of the dog and travel pages to avoid this location at all costs until they get with the times . Breeds are not the problem , bad owners are !! Maybe the management will one day pull their heads out from the south end of a north bound mule , but I doubt it .... read more

If it weren't for the rain I'd say this place is great, we reserved a camper spot and paid a decent chunk of change two months in advance, once we got there it was easy to check in and easy to find our spot, but our spot was a puddle!! We called up to the front desk to ask if we could move one spot left or right because they were empty and dry, they apologized and said that they were booked and said they'd call and tell us if there were any cancellations, so we just set up in mud and had to take our shoes off everytime we went outside, now this wasn't horrible but the entire weekend NOBODY used these two spots very close to us so of course that made me a little upset, the showers and restrooms were kept nice and clean the entire duration of our trip, the trash guys went around alot and we were always able to find an open trash can, the store right upfront had food and ice cream and literally anything you'd need for camping if you just forgot everything. All in all I will definitely camp here again, just probably pick a different spot next time. read more

We had a great time at the resort, Trophy Husband and I shared a cabin with 7 other couples. The cabin was clean and spacious, we enjoyed the covered patio and the common deck as well as the grills outside. The bathrooms/showers/sink areas were in great condition and clean. We found the staff mostly helpful, there are some younger peeps that sort of fly by the seat of their pants. This lead to some confusion with our group RE wristbands for the cabin and canoeing. We got it fixed but it took a bit. The store is well stocked with basics and booze, but pricy (as expected). Barbeque in the cafe however is reasonably priced and very tasty. Here are some tips for others staying in a cabin: - The twin-size bunks are quite narrow, don't think your going to share one of those with anyone. - Bring your own sheets, pillow and blanket. Pack towels too. - The kitchen is a table, lots of cabinets, small coffee maker, a fridge and an oven. That's it. No pots, pans, utensils, paper products or cleaning supplies at all. Pack them if you want them. Travel out to the river drop in point was a touch chaotic but there were hundreds of people being herded around. I thought it was handled pretty well and our bus driver was hilarious. We did the 5 mile float trip in a canoe. The river must have been down over 6 feet down but many spots were still deep and we only pushed the canoe a couple of times. All in all it was a great trip and we look forward to going back next year! read more

We stayed at their 2nd campground, which was by the Dollar General, a little farther away from the main general store and cabins. The rates were affordable and bussing everyone to the float trip was really organized. The staff was friendly and they even picked us up at the river early for $5/person (the river was really low when we went, so we had to drag our boats by hand about half the time)-- this was totally worth it. Everything was easy to get around and the campsite was spacious and quiet. I would come again but maybe not to go on a float trip! :) The cabins looked very nice. read more

This is my go to place for family camping, as well as hanging with my rowdy friends camping. The key is, DO NOT take your kids here for a camping trip during the weekend. It is a party spot during the weekend, and it gets loud and crazy at times. If you want to take the family, go during the week. It is quiet, clean, and beautiful. They are a little pricey, but in my opinion it is worth it. Love the fact that they have a mini store on site since I always somehow manage to forget something on my camping trips. Also, the fishing here is pretty good. I put lines in when I have my kiddos and we usually catch quite a few fish. read more

This is probably the worst campground I've ever stayed at. The amenities certainly don't outweigh all the negatives. The float is terrible. If you do the 8 mile the first 5 is great then it's nothing but stagnant water you have to row through. Not to mention the police hide in the tree line and are not afraid to harass you at any chance. The campground is rocky and uneven and police are there CONSTANTLY. I understand having safety for the grounds but come on. I was harassed and so were others several times in the 3 days I stayed for absolutely nothing. They were there five times in three days "patrolling". The whole campground smells like sewage from the Tyson plant next door and stagnant water everywhere. I would highly highly recommend camping somewhere else. read more

This was my first time staying at one of the resorts in Noel as I'm usually just camping in the area. Our group consisted of 4 ladies and we were there for a weekend float trip. It was very convenient having running water(2 sinks, toilet, and a shower) and electricity(outlets, A/C unit, mini fridge, and lights). Our cabin was located right across from sand volleyball with the river in the background. Most of the guests respected the quiet hours and were still able to enjoy their late night evening, myself included. They offer a breakfast buffet and is decently priced. Not only that, but there is a convenience store inside the main building as well. We rented 2 kayaks and 1 canoe for our trip and the equipment was in pretty good shape. The employees were also very nice with helping us return our equipment. The river looks to be maintained and kept very clean considering it's main weekend use and drinking crowds. Minus the location of the third bunk bed I would like to return next summer! read more

This is the worst campground we have encountered in 6 years and over 40,000 miles of RV travel. The facility is clearly oriented toward float trips and river activities. For RV travelers it is completely unsuitable: dirty sites with sparse grass, open top trash barrels everywhere, beer bottles littering our fire ring, old decrepit utility hookups, no pull-throughs. Their pet policy is ludicrous. Over thirty breeds are banned outright, while there is a charge of $12 per night per dog for the others. Amazingly, they charge by the number of people, not the site itself. So a single individual in a motor home would pay $16 for the same site that a family of four with a dog would pay $76. The office personnel were indifferent and unhelpful. Finally, this is very much a raucous party environment-- heavy alcohol use, music and noise til midnight, constant coming and going of people using the river. Float trippers no doubt enjoy this place, but RV'ers should steer clear. read more

Don't book this place in advance. I tried to delay my trip because the weather forecast shows hail and potentially a tornado. They won't delay based on that. Today is May 31st, 2013, and the weather on weather.com for tonight shows: Windy with strong thunderstorms likely this afternoon. Damaging winds, large hail, and possibly a tornado with some storms. High 83F. Winds SSW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 70%. My suggestion is that if you want to come, wait until the very last minute to book it. read more

Horrifying. A huge fight broke out in the late night cove on Friday and staff handled it very poorly. There was a Very large guy shouting for people to wake up, and to come fight him, during quiet hours and was going threw everyone stuff while everyone was asleep! He even opened a tent while a girl was In there unclothed and started shouting about it!!! And the staff got into the girls faces that were saying the guy was going through their stuff.. not the guy who was going threw their stuff and caused the entire fight. the cops finally kicked him out about 2 and a half hours after he started the fight between everyone and then about 30 mins later, a car rolls through and they shout "I hope you know how to duck" talking about shooting the place up!!!! No one On the staff was patrolling during the night so they didn't even know what was happening... There was no way to get ahold of the staff, we had to call 911 and it took forever for the cops to get there! We were so scared. It was a ton of people screaming at each other from 330-530 am... the bathrooms are shared male/female, so there is literally piss everywhere. The bathrooms don't lock and the door is too far away to just hold it shut, and the toilet paper was gone by about 8pm Friday night.. we bought 2 pair of water shoes from their store and they both fell apart by the end of the day.. The river had no current, so you had to paddle. And there were spots that were too shallow and everyone had to get out and u had to drag the raft.. There was no "floating down the river" The river also had a ton of branches and turned over trees, it's very dangerous if you are not watching what you are doing, so how does that go hand in hand with a bunch of drunk people? We watched several people flip because they didn't know how to handle these trees.. there were no signs anywhere so you have no idea where you are, how far you've gone, or how far you have left to go. And now today, 1 day after floating, I am covered in rashes from the water. Just overall a very unsafe experience. read more

First of all this is not a kid friendly place. If you are looking for a place where you are crammed in like sardines on a total unlevel rock only ground and you enjoy extremely loud music until 4am, puking, fights, restrooms with no toilet paper, cars screaming up and down the roads, police,city marshals and ambulances there many times a day this is a place for you..... the worst thing was when the campground allowed the group next to us put up a makeshift bucket porta potty against our disapproval. The group used it all weekend long and on Sunday morning they got up and walked over to the creek and dumped it all in the water and then left the bucket on the picnic table for the grounds crew to handle and throw away. The people are very nice, but have no control. The best part of the weekend was that they had a guy delivering campsite firewood and pizza all weekend long. (Which was helpful because our kids were not allowed to leave the campsite without an adult... safety reasons). The music was so loud and way past curfew. It's obvious no one is there after 2 am. Or again. Just no control of the place. DANGEROUS For FAMILIES. Will never go there again. Sorry RR I hope you can make some changes. read more

Can I give 0 stars??? Had a HORRIBLE experience. We were not aware that this was 'party camping'. We came down for a nice quiet get-away and got nothing we expected! We stayed in cabin 36. The people in 37 and 38 partied until 2am! We could hear their conversations as if they were in the same room. Signs posted that quiet hours are from midnight - 7am...what that really means is, radios off, but parties can continue! We called the office 3x and were told that someone would be sent to quiet them down. Never happened! Our cinder block room is not at all what I would call a cabin. 4 horrible bunk beds, mounted to the wall right by the door (ypu know, to ensure you could hear the party next door) and a queen squeezed into the 'separate bedroom'. No covering on the window on the front door. Had to hang a trash bag on the door so we could change clothes and block out the porch light. We were so disappointed that we left a day early. We contacted the office via email to discuss the matter and all they did was tell us that the picture on the website shows that our 'cabin' is in a block of cabins, not free-standing. We had people tent camping right outside our door...in what is obviously a parking median. Seems all about the money at River Ranch...cram in as many as they can to make the money. Will NEVER return and tell everyone we know to find another campground...unless they want to party all night long. Even my 11 year old daughter said the accommodations were ridiculous! read more
