TL;DR Review: Nice service, but the room was... what I paid for…read more
I felt like I got a steal on this room, paying half of what most everyone else with the same amenities charged on the nights we stayed. Please bear that in mind as you read the rest of this review, which will sound like I'm blasting them apart: When we checked in, we were assigned a non-smoking room, and I had to sign a notice that I would be charged $250 for smoking in the room. We don't smoke, so that was fine with us. When we entered the assigned room, it REEKED of cigarette smoke. Someone has smoked in that room TODAY. So I marched my happy butt back to the office and told her that the room I was given was NOT a non-smoking room. She happily re-assigned me to the room next door, which did NOT smell like it'd been smoked in (since it'd been cleaned last, at least).
The flat-screen TV was sitting atop the dresser, about four feet below the bracket it would otherwise have been mounted on. The walls were paper thin. We could hear, from our bed, what I can only assume was the tenant of the unit above us micturating into his toilet. And his wife (again, I'm assuming here) was marching around at 7am the next morning in high-heels. The guy next to us was watching Fox News pretty loudly. The complimentary soap dissolved in my hand moments after I began my lathering regimen. The restroom's vent didn't work (but made a pretty nice electric hum when you turn it on). On Kayak, we were promised free breakfast, but don't let that fool you. There's a jug of milk in a refrigerator underneath two cereal dispensers for Cheerios (no, not Honey Nut) and Fruit Loops. THAT is what they meant by "breakfast." To their credit, I wasn't charged, so technically, that WAS, indeed, "free breakfast." I received zero help or extra materials as I was happily cleaning up the milk my daughter spilled on the table and floor with Dixie Stampede napkins.
Another review said that the doors are fitted with old-fashioned "metal key" style locks, but that's no longer the case. They have the neatest locks I've ever seen; where you just hold your key card up to the lock and it turns blue as it unlocks. Massive props.
To bring this review back around, I must re-state that I felt like I got a decent deal on the room. I felt safe at night, we slept fine, the TV worked, the refrigerator didn't freeze our Cokes solid, and we did get nourishment from the cereal. I paid $35/night, which was at least $15 cheaper than anything else in the city. Next time we're in Branson, I might just revisit, but I hope there's a better deal and I get to stay elsewhere.
