On the positive side, they offer the option of leases that are less than 12 months. For a premium,…read moreI paid for a shorter four-month lease, letting them know on the day I moved in, that I would not be renewing. I was forced to find a hotel initially, as my room was not ready on the move in date due to the being permeated with the smell of cat urine. I tried to be as understanding and cooperative as possible with the delays. 30 days before the end of my lease, I stopped in the office to remind them that I would be making no changes to my lease, and moving out as per the original lease, in 30 days. I was advised that because I did not give them 60 days' notice that I was NOT going to make any changes to my lease, that I would be charged an additional month rent plus a $200 fee. I tried to speak to them to ask if they could advertise the room for rent and allow me to only pay for the agreed upon 4 months if another renter responded to the advertisement, however they were unwilling to allow me to stay with the terms of my original lease because I did not give them 60 days' notice that I was NOT making ANY changes to my lease. Have you heard of the term "thievery by fine print?" Beware.

The people that work at the Prescott Lakes Apartments are (5 star) professional, helpful, and…read morecourteous. This review is about how CONAM Management Corporation only sees residents as profit. 1) Because of an ongoing house lease I was in when I applied, I was not able to move in for 2 weeks after the apt was ready so they charged me for those 2 weeks on the empty apartment. (I faced the same situation with my new apt. but they did not charge me for the two weeks the apartment was unoccupied.) 2) Paying the electricity bill for the whole building, and not just what I used, was something new to me and more expensive than I had considered. This was first, and last time I will agree to pay for a companies utilities. 3) 6 months after I moved in, the rent on my style apartment was lowered to almost $400.00 less then the lease amount I was locked into. This substantial decrease was used as an incentive for new residents to move in and fill several vacancies. When my lease was up for renewal, the price of my style apartment for new renters had gone up but was still $200 less that what I had to pay every month, and yet my renewal cost at this time went up $40.00 so I was paying $240 more than the going price. 4) When I moved out, CONAM 'got me' with an unexpected fee. As soon as I gave notice, maintenance immediately took photos of my carpet. I was later told I may have to pay for 'wear and tear' on the carpet. I reminded them that I had carpet runners over the carpet so no damage. Knowing how CONAM operates, I was sure they would go after my security deposit for something else and I was not wrong. I spent all day cleaning out the fridge, the microwave, cabinets, floors, patio etc. the day before the move. A few days later I was charged $175.00 for a 'deep clean' with photos of some 'easily wipeable surface areas' to validate their claim. I now regret the time spent cleaning as a 15 to 20 minute wipe down should not cost $175.00.

Pamela, the office manager, will be your only point of contact should there be any problems, and…read morethere will be. If she decides she does not like you, she will not answer or return your calls or emails. She will even avoid you on property. Writing to the management company, calling them, will get no response whatsoever. I moved out on June 8, with rent paid up until the end of June. Without any communication to me, she rented out my apartment early. The parking space, mailbox and unit I was paying for, began being used by someone else! I only learned this when I visited her in the office to return keys. She has my forwarding address but here we are at the end of July without my substantial deposit returned. This is against the law, both collecting double rent and not returning my deposit with an accounting within 14 days. The voice mailboxes are always full and she ignores all attempts at communications. She has behaved outrageously in many other ways, as well. Snaps and yells at residents and is generally rude and runs the place like a dictator.. She prides herself on getting new customers but retention is a problem. There are many unhappy residents. Since no one at the Winfield at the Ranch property cares, it's time for small claims court and reporting Winfield to the authorities.

Having leased for a year and a half, Journey has been a paragon of integrity. After the other two…read morebig rental agencies in town told me multiple lies, contradictory statements, and extorted lots of money from me, I was worried there were no honest rental agencies in Prescott. I am pleased to say that throughout several issues that we worked through with Journey, I always felt like I was treated fairly. When I compare the leases from Journey with the others in town, it seems that Journey has higher and more explicit fees for violations of the lease. I prefer that over the other agencies that seem to make their money by bullying and deception. I get the sense that this is why other reviewers were not happy with Journey. I much prefer those who do things by the books as Journey does, because there are no surprises. What the lease says is what happens. And they have been willing to work with me and the owner to adjust down fees for my minor violations. That combo of transparency and flexibility gives comfort. A minor issue is that they give service windows for visits of 3-4 days which seems excessive; would prefer a specific time. They do lots of maintenance; every few months they will come out and change the furnace filters which is something that other rental companies require tenants to do themselves. And there are inspection walkthroughs regularly. Another rental agency took months and lots of reminders to get an issue with dryer vent clogging fixed. With Journey the dryer vent clog was fixed with just one request on my part, and they even went above and beyond to replace the outside vent cover so the problem wouldn't happen again. When a button on the stove didn't work, they replaced the whole stove with a brand new unit. Communication with Ryan and Sharon was professional and efficient.

These people at Journey Real Estate, in Prescott, AZ should be shut down. They have zero integrity…read more They are liars, crooks and thieves. The only thing they care about is lining their pockets with your money. If you are already renting from them, do not fix or clean anything when you move out. You will never see one dime of your damage deposit returned to you, so don't waste your time, your energy or your money. It isnt worth it. This is how they make money. Don't fool yourself into thinking you'll get any of your money back, because you won't. These are horrible people who want you to think they have your best interest in mind, but they don't. They are totally dishonest and only have one thing on their minds... your money.
