We love the brunch items. The sausage gravy is so good. My son likes the chicken and waffles. Shrimp and grits are tasty. Florentine casserole is my favorite. We've met many amazing families in the dining area. IMO, it's a must stop when you're in Clemson. read more

Lakeside Lodge Clemson is pretty but we were disappointed with a few things. We had seen the map that showed a little football field, prior to booking, that showed yard markings and an end zone but that ended up being just a grassy area with no such markings. My son had been looking forward to this and it definitely was a bummer for him (and us). The pocket doors in the bathroom will close super fast so watch your fingers. Someone had obviously gotten theirs caught before us because there was blood smeared on the side of the door. Gross. The walls are soooooo thin and apparently have zero insulation. The people next door to us were not being overly loud but we could hear every word of their conversation. It made going to sleep not particularly easy. Thank goodness they weren't having some adult time over there because that would have been super awkward. If you don't want to hear trains frequently, this is not the place for you. There is a train track right across the street and you will hear multiple trains day and night. The water pressure in the shower was pitiful. If I had needed to wash my long hair, I would have been better off using the sink. Would definitely not stay here again. read more

I'm going to give them 4 stars - even though I would probably give them a 3 - just to balance some of the 1 star reviews that I read that were a bit excessive (like not being able to get a later check out so an infant can go in the pool though technically I think you can still go in the pool on your check out day - you just can't go back to a room and shower before leaving the premises ... but the pool DOES have a bathroom large enough to dry off and change clothes) ... We've stayed here a few times. The last time we stayed it was a 3. The construction of the building was kind of flimsy and it's obvious if you're in one of the outer buildings. The train is also a nightmare if the conductor has a heavy hand for the horn - for this particular stay I woke up once but actually felt it was a short horn ... We stayed here because of our dogs. There is enough space to walk them, eat outside, lounge outside (not at the pool), etc. I think one's experience is wildly dependent on which room and building you are in. We stayed in the main building for this latest stay and it was the best one yet: GREAT room, nice and clean, comfy beds, great pillows, beautiful kitchen (including an oven!) ... the pool was great, the towels are provided, the parking is generally easy, and the in-house restaurant is fabulous! But I can see and understand many other reviews because this place does not operate like a hotel per se and the check-in does take unusually long. We did not have a problem with this stay - but the line did have 6 people ahead of us waiting to check in upon arrival; one gal was just too chatty. The buildings and numbering of the rooms is also terrible. It's easy to get lost especially your first time. If you stay in an outside building from main, the walk IS long. This is a hotel/condo hybrid ... I love the idea. I'm not sure it was executed well. I think better quality construction (including soundproofing for trains) would have went a long way to long-term success. The bathroom outlet didn't work for us and there were not enough towel bars. It wasn't so disappointing for me that I would ding a star in my review. But we do recall being blown away by this stay which means we didn't think so highly of it before. I guess for me the lack of consistency is the biggest problem ... I feel like one's experience should be the same every time so you know what to expect. If we book again, I'd be excited for our best stay but nervous we might get one of our previous experiences. read more

Terrible! Pretty grounds in the back of the lodge...thats it! Read the fine print policies before you book! They are rip off artists at best. Since our awful experience there in May '25 for our daughter's graduation from Clemson. They changed our rate upon check in after THEY went ahead and canceled one of our nights stay without our authorization. Total scam and no support from upper management with their mistake. We've written several emails to regional managers and principals with ZERO response! The reply to our Google review was that when one night was removed, the price of the room was adjusted. We would've never spent over $1,000 a night to stay here!! I warn everyone I can about this place. read more

Giving 3 stars. Restaurant and bar area and food are great. You can really tell they spent the majority of the money on this area, however. The rooms are just not up to par with the restaurant and bar. The pool area is nice, but it could really use a cleaning. We reserved 6 months ago and I have to say , sadly , I'm disappointed. The lady that was "greeting" hotel guests ( on duty 30 Aug 2024 around 630 pm) was just rude. She behaved as though we, and everyone checking in , were idiots. She talked very fast and unclear. Her demeanor was just hostile. I was surprised. The hotel and service industry does not have room for people that behave this way. Our room needed a better cleaning. We USED to love this place. Spent thousands staying each year for our lake getaways, several nights and stays from April through October. But something has changed. The staff somewhere along the line just stopped embracing hospitality and customer service philosophies that you'd expect from most hotels. We booked a stay months in advance and after 7 hours of driving the day of our trip they told us they couldn't accommodate our first floor request. Then they proceeded to be rude and encouraged us to leave when we brought up our concerns. Generally, places want your business. It's obvious these guys could care less about making you feel welcome or how often you stay. Terrible attitudes and treatment. Be warned if you any issues, you'll be met with hostility and lack of empathy. You'd be better off staying somewhere that appreciates you as a guest! read more

This hotel is Not Dog Friendly! I stayed here and felt everything was an issue with dogs. They seat you outside in the corner with s sun with no operating umbrella. While everyone else is on a good table with nice umbrellas. Likewise with being in the rooms and hotel. Find another hotel. read more

They decided to send all employees home, including mangement during this crisis. Walking around in the dark hallways is pretty damn scary. No one checked in on us. Never supplied us with water or snacks. Not even in the room when we first arrived and had power could you find a water bottle! Ran out of linens so some beds had no sheets. I double booked hotels and obviously neither would refund because of "game day policy" but I will say The Hampton Inn gave 1000X better service than this upscale pricer "lodge." Will not being staying here or recommending this place ever. read more

Booked a weekend to visit my grandparents for Christmas. The beginning of December my dog, who is like my child, was diagnosed with ITP and almost died. I called to cancel my trip with Lakeside. The lady suggested I move the date to avoid loosing $170 in cancelation fees, regardless of my situation. She told me to call back in a few weeks to cancel and I would not be changed. I just called to cancel and was still changed a $170 fee. My dog is still not well enough to travel. Not the best way to do business if you ask me. Esp when there was a life event that is still going on that prevents myself and my dog from traveling. BEWARE. read more

I'm going go ahead and give them five star review because it was a great fit for me and my young family. The room was nice and spacious. It felt like a new construction home, big kitchen, huge bathroom, big shower, comfortable beds, lots of space. The place is super easy to come and go when you're unloading strollers and play pens etc. We stayed here when we visited Lake Keowee, so worked well. Note to mgmt...I'm not sure if it was because they were new, or because of COVID-19, but some of the service could definitely be improved. Example we did not know that there was no breakfast available, that there is no room service at all, etc. Very limited staff but they just opened so going to give them a pass. He compared to a major hotel chains, I do think the staff may need some hospitality training, greetings, check in process. I would also love to see the walkway to the dock get finished. However if you just make a couple operational tweaks I do believe this place would be headed towards five star in terms of enjoyment, flexibility, and location. Note this is definitely not a five-star hotel, but I'll give them five stars on yelp. read more

Let's make this one short and sweet would have been five stars but a few housekeeping problems brought it down to 4. Love love love how big the rooms here were, the staff was exceptional and the outdoor pool was nice as well especially on a hot day. The food at their restaurant was fabulous we never had to leave to eat anywhere else. Here are the few things that bring the score down.. Fridge handles break off( they know of the problem) The hot tub was a disgusting color and needs better cleaning. (Should have a no kids rule as well) The restaurant feels more like a high school cafeteria set up and noise level wise. If these few things could be fixed this place would be an absolute gem especially considering the price!! read more

I was in town with a family member for an event just one evening- found this what appeared to be a gem and was excited for our stay. Upon arriving, the frustration started with locating our room. My family member has limited mobility and can't walk long distances- there's one elevator in building 1 and beyond that the walking is lengthy. The front desk told us wrong directions and was difficult to locate room correctly. Next, the bathroom had hairs on the "clean" towels, nothing has been dusted in what appears to be along time especially in the bedroom and there was dried spilled coffee all over the bottom kitchen cabinets and coffee grounds on the floors. Outlets don't work in living room, and let's not get started about the 5am train that woke us up loudly. The room adjoins to an unknown neighbor and clearly they didn't know their inside voices were like at a concert when you can't hear yourself speak. This is a "resort", why close the hot tub shortly after 6pm?! Informed the front desk of concerns, waiting for a call back to see about compensation - I hate to complain, I'm in the service industry myself and couldn't believe these things especially in hospitality. The units are individually owned- this owner needs to see their unit because housekeeping doesn't keep up the appearance of their investment. Unfortunately won't stay here again- hopefully getting my money back for the evening stay. read more

TLDR: I have never stayed in a dirtier hotel room. My fiancé and I booked 2 nights at Lakeside Lodge looking for a nice place to spend the weekend. Thinking that the newest hotel in Clemson would also be the nicest, we decided to stay here. While the exterior looks great, I have never stayed in a dirtier hotel room. We tried to look past the small things but the list continued to get longer. By the time we checked out, these were our issues with room 3103A and the rest of the facility. 1. We had the thermostat set on 80+ all weekend but still had to wear jackets in our room the entire time. 2. The shower door seal was broken causing it to leak into the floor. 3. The bottom of the shower could be felt flexing at least 1 inch into the subflooring. 4. Food crumbs and cup rings from previous guest remained on 2 of 3 living room tables. 5. A loose earring was found on the floor. 6. The dishwasher was still full upon our arrival. 7. Bowls and other items in cabinets were absolutely filthy. (like someone ate clam chowder from them and put them directly back on the shelf, check the attached photo) 8. Sauce stains on kitchen floor. 9. Food stains in utensil drawer. 10. Exterior of fridge was so dirty that it turned an entire baby wipe brown. 11. Hole from door knob in bedroom closet door. 12. Brown liquid stains on the top of our comforter. 13. Key cards did not work on any exterior building doors or gates, forcing us to go all the way around through the lobby to get back inside whenever we left. 1 star awarded for a truly amazing restaurant but I would absolutely avoid staying in this hotel at ANY price, much less with it competing for one of the highest priced in the area. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. We arrived to Clemson around noon after driving all night to move my sister into college. We called the hotel to see if we could check in early; they told us our room wasn't ready and suggested we call back around 2pm as they would prioritize our room since we arrived early. When we called at 2pm, they suggested we come to the hotel to fill out the paperwork and then would call us once the room was ready. We showed up around 230 and checked in, but didn't hear anything so went to do errands and returned around 430. At this time, our room STILL wasn't ready. The front desk associate said it would "probably be 5-10 more minutes" but if it wasn't ready then we could get a full refund - however we clarified we would lose our reservation. Unsure why the hotel thought this was a solution since we had no where else to stay???? We asked to speak to a manager at this point who informed us that "check in begins at 4pm" - although this is NOT clear since the website CLEARLY states "check is in at 4pm or later." The way I, a valued customer, reads that statement is check in is GUARANTEED by 4pm. We asked if there was anything she could do to make our wait more reasonable at this time and she said no. We asked what and where we should wait in the meantime and she said "I don't care what you do while you wait." She didn't offer to store our luggage, didn't offer us a drink or app while we waited. Nothing. The customer service was absolutely atrocious and I will never, ever stay here again on my many upcoming planned trips to Clemson. read more

We stayed here two years ago and everything was great. This time (July, 2023) it was not! We arrived at 4 pm and had to wait for an hour to get in the 3BR suite. The AC had problems the entire time we were there. The floors were not clean, the shower had mold, there were cobwebs on a lamp, there were no towels bars in the bathroom. The street facing rooms had to deal with bright lights from the parking lot and frequent train with the loud whistle. I am not sure if there has been a change in management or what, but this place is not the same. On the positive side, the pool and restaurant were great. However, I cannot recommend this lodge and will find another place next time. read more

The building and rooms are nice. Not always clean. Not well constructed - issues with doors locking properly. Not well maintained at times even though new. The price is good compared to other hotels but you have to factor in resort fee charges. The front desk staff is mostly friendly and helpful but there have been several that are very rude and unhelpful. Recent visit included exchanges with the property manager (or so told) and it was a very unprofessional exchange. The housekeeping staff has always been helpful when attending to the rooms but they seem to be severely overworked and have trouble getting to the rooms. Possibly due to Covid, but during all stays in 2021, the rooms have not been cleaned during our stays. Check in can be a disaster. The waiting time can be very long and early check in, prior to 4 pm has not been possible even when the facility seems empty. Although they indicate they can do it. It does not happen. My experience is that the place is not managed like a hotel, and staying there has been frustrating. The manager was one of the least helpful managers I have seen in a long time. I have been a heavy business traveler for 30 years and my expectations are fair. This does meet the typical moderate quality hotel level of management. Cannot say we will not stay here again, but it is not in the top 5 options even though it is convenient and a nice facility. Beware if the challenges. Courtyard, Martin, Patrick Square, Holiday Inn Express have always been of what you expect in a hotel. Hope this helps. read more

We spent 4 nights at the lodge. We had a 1br suite. The room was clean and looked nice when we arrived. We had great take out from their restaurant that tasted good and was reasonably priced. We did not chose a lakeside view at the lodge. Instead we faced the parking lot where there were loud noises, people and an annoying train with an obnoxious whistle. I don't blame the lodge for these issues. It's geography. I would certainly stay here again. read more

Beware when you book a room and ask for a lake view room and you pay extra for that view.at check in I was warned you may not be happy with your lake view . Well she was correct . I called to have the extra charge removed . I was told only a manager could do that .i called Echo the manager and NEVER heard from anyone . Would they call if There was an emergency??????we had no lake View but we were in the lake View building .....LOL really!!!!! The staff were great and the restaurant was fantastic but management needs To respond rather than charge for a room They know has no lake view . I decided to stay here for a night as I was in town visiting a friend at Clemson. Prices were great but the staff not so much. They're were two front desk staff members who were present when I checked in, one was a very nice and charming girl who checked me in, and the other was an older lady who kept eye balling me giving me nasty looks. I'm an Asian American male who came in their checking in dressed casually with a sweater and shorts on. Everything the girl explained to me, the lady reiterated it to me as if I was stupid and didn't get it the first time. Every time I said "thank you", the lady met my response with a silence and looked away. Where's the southern hospitality? Not to mention when I arrived, and was checking in with the sweeter nicer girl, this lady interrupted my conversation and asked "what are you doing"? What kind of question is that? I'm standing there checking in while this lady is staring at me oddly and asks me "what are you doing". I personally felt this lady was not use to seeing asian folk check into a nice looking lodge like this, and I feel disgusted at how my check in process was and feel it was partly due to my ethnicity. Thank god I didn't have to see her the rest of my stay. Onto the room situation, my first assigned room had a door issue where the door did not want to close. The lodge remedied this and place me into another room, great. The second room had a similar issue where the door would shut, but not all the way. You have to literally push the door in hard for it close which was annoying. I didn't even feel like bringing it up to the front desk again considering how I felt checking in. Also, the curtains in the room does not close all the way, leaving a good 1ft opening for lack of privacy and sunlight to shine in which was annoying in the morning be awoken by sunlight. I definitely won't visit this lodge again. read more

When asked to move rooms was told they don't clean every room every day so it was not available and they would not reduce the rate of the room for the inconvenience. Paying almost 300. On the surface this is a beautiful hotel, with lovely grounds and a nice restaurant. The staff was pleasant and the room was clean, but, it was not a restful pleasant stay. The main issue is the train. It runs multiple times during the middle of the night. I was awakened at least 4 times each night with the continuous blowing of the horns. I find this to be important information to know before you stay there. Additionally, the walls are very thin. Our neighbors were not loud but we could hear them (and smell what they were cooking ). Beds were nice but the pillows were awful, like had to go buy new pillows for the remainder of my trip awful. They have air trapped in them and felt like sleeping on a partially deflated raft (where the inflated sides go up but your head sinks down flat). No amount of "fluffing" helped, as the air just moved side to side, very odd pillows. Day 1 we had a backed up toilet we had to call twice to get it fixed after we returned 5 hours later and still clogged. The poor lady at the desk had to come fix it, not sure where maintenance was. I think we will stick to the other hotels nearby, definitely have had better at other places for less money. read more

I and my family stayed at this "hotel" for 5 days in August 2022. Because there was some activity related to the nearby Clemson University, the room rates on 3 days were outrageous - $429.00 for a double room, breakfast NOT included. Other days $299.00, etc. Call it greed, avarice, opportunism, whatever. There was also no room service - except to remove the waste basket if asked for. They also charged separately for "resort fee" (for cleaning the room after we leave) and "convenence fee" (for internet use and for use of their pool, and possibly the parking lot). When I told him that there should not be such charges at a hotel, their response was: "We are not a hotel, we have private condos, and you are renting a condo." Yet, on the Internet, they are listed among hotels in the Seneca area. I am surprised the local Chamber Commerce allows such greed and opportunism at their location. In the dining area, no breakfast is served except on Saturdays and Sundays. The room was, yes, clean, but that is all! For this"condo hotel," one star is just about right. I truly hate having to write this review and at this point I wish I could do a negative star! This could have been resolved differently in such a professional manner. As I was hoping the lakeside lodge would at least reach out back out to me after I left several messages and even had booking.com reach out about my stay. My husband and are from out of town and have stayed here multiple times and have love each and every time. Clean rooms, great service, very nice staff but this last time 6/9-6/11 for his birthday not so much. We booked well over a month in advance for this trip. The first thing we was dropped off by car service since out of town so had no vehicle, go to check in at 4 our room wasn't ready. Ok that's fine we can wait a few minutes NO we had to wait 1 hr and 45 minutes outside with our dog in 90 degree weather on curb with bags in hand. Our dog was getting very anxious and nervous and would not handle sitting in lobby nor would we want to leave our bags alone outside. Once we was checked in I asked about compensation for the troubles, I was advised to call down in a.m to speak to management Echo (need to say I have been trying for weeks). I have been leaving messages on her personal voicemail and can't even get a single call back. Then top it off the room wasn't the cleanest , dirty bathroom( the toilet wasn't cleaned and around the bottom of shower was dirty )kitchen was gross and bedroom had dust and cobwebs. I work to hard for my money and spent a lot of money staying here (all trips combined) to be treated like this. This is awful absolute terrible customer service. So if you are looking for a nice place to stay with good customer service this isn't the place. read more

Very loud hotel. After 10 pm they allow parting and loud door slamming going on forever. Called front desk and a young lady with zero hospitality skills did not care at all. At first glance, this place is nice. But look a little closer and you'll be very disappointed. First, the people on the floor above you sound like they are going to come crashing thru the ceiling. All night. Crappy construction. The bathroom has a terrible pocket door that was always getting stuck. The dishes in the cabinet were wet ??! I've never had these issues in any hotel before, but here's the worst: the old Bait and Switch. You book it as a pet friendly hotel. Yay! I can bring my dog! You read all over the reservation online before approving it. You check in. You don't feel like watching tv, but your wife uncharacteristically does. So she pulls out the little black notebook under the tv. After flipping pages about the tv and recommendations about where to eat, she finds a strange clause that was not mentioned online OR when checking in. You must register your dog immediately for an additional $100 charge or you will be fined $250 when they catch you with the dog!!! Look out for the Gestapo, friends, because it also warns they'll fine you if they find any smoking paraphernalia in your room. So if you buy a Clemson lighter as a Christmas gift for that hard to buy uncle who still smokes, better remember to leave it in your car. I GUESS they don't go through your car, too? . read more

Spacious, modern, clean hotel with nice outdoor large pool, hot tub, cozy fire-pit area looking out over the lake. This hotel is located on the far side of a strip mall that has shops such as Aldi Grocery, Michaels Arts/Crafts, Marshalls, Petco, Five Guys Burgers, nail salon, Clemson fan store, urgent care (that was open even on Easter day when we were there)... so SUPER convenient and walkable. The hotel is more of a small studio condo/apartment feel with a lobby & restaurant on the main center area and a small checkin desk in that same lobby area. We stayed 1 night in a studio King w/ small kitchen. Bathroom is just off the kitchen with a large shower, sink and toilet inside bathroom and a pocket door. Towels were fine and shampoo/conditioner/soap was in a dispenser inside shower (not toiletry sized containers). Kitchen had dishes/utensils/glasses/cups for 4, a full sized stove/oven combo, microwave, refrigerator w/ ice maker and sink. Blender, hand mixer and toaster also in kitchen w/ pots/pans, mixing bowls, sheet pans and serving utensils. There is a small 4-cup Cuisinart coffee pot with hotel like generic coffee in prefilled pocket filters and some individual non-dairy creamers & sugar. No tea bags. No hotel room phone either. AC/Heat worked well with room adjustable thermostat (we actually used both heat and AC b/c in May first day was hot and next was cold... never know that time of year). WIFI was good too. Rooms are either facing the front hotel parking lot, side facing parking lot or the back lake view. Front rooms will hear the train just across the highway that runs quiet often until about 12:30pm and again at 6:30am. We found it super expensive for a 1 night stay (over $300 which included a dog fee of $100)... but friends of ours were staying for a week in a bigger unit with a dining table and full living room and separate bedroom area and the price was a much better deal. I'm sure Clemson game weekends the price goes up, but excellent for a fan weekend stay I'm sure. We ate at Traditions Restaurant in the hotel for dinner one night with a reservation... party of 8 sat outside... nice area and view with excellent food and drinks for the price. The service was ok - typical service of a young, college aged staff. With a child at Clemson - this hotel was super close to campus (walkable to the stadium... a long walk, but walkable) and really convenient with the walkable shopping/grocery in the area to cook in our hotel room. The cons...first thing we noticed when we checked into our room (which was a 1 bdrm king suite with kitchen and balcony overlooking the lake) was that the floors were very dirty in the kitchen and bathroom; the balcony had not been cleaned...very dirty with spider webs and someone had spilled something sticky on the floor and it was everywhere; also there were urine stains underneath the toiled lid (yuck!!!) and the shower floor was dirty. There were no wash cloths provided and had to ask for them; also, there was no coffee provided (not good!) and the fact that there was no breakfast provided, there should at least be coffee in the room. We had to go out and buy coffee, paper towels, and trash bags for the kitchen. As much as you pay for the room, these should be provided. Also, we had a rowdy group above us that sounded as if they were stomping on the floors and running marathons CONTINUALLY until LATE in the evening. Each night we had to call and complain and ask the staff to please call them. We assume they did, although it did not stop right away and one night is was after midnight. The 2nd night we called, they did ask us if we wanted to change rooms but it was 10:00 and we were already settled in bed. Now I realize that the lodge cannot control how guests act, but it was disheartening that we could never truly relax...we aren't able to get away very often...actually it's very rare! Oh, and one night we had the pleasure of listening to the fire alarm because of a mischievous kid...at least that's what someone told us is what caused it because they did not make us evacuate. We wanted so badly to give a 5 star review, but all the little details that were missed, add up...especially when it comes to cleanliness. But, I do want to end on the positives...again, the location is wonderful, the lodge and grounds are beautiful, and staff were all very friendly.
