Wow! We just happened to arrive at 4:30 when they opened, which was a huge strike of luck! The line…read morewas out the door for the rest of the time we were there, which I understand is normal. I promise you, it's worth the wait! We got the mince and veggie pie and the fish and chips, in both were absolutely fantastic. The breading on the fish was delicious and light, and the chips were perfectly cooked and nice and crispy. They definitely tasted fresh, not frozen. The pie was fantastic as well. The pastry was flaky and light, and there was just the right amount of fillings. The gravy they served with it was the perfect compliment, and even tasted good with the chips. I am not a fan of peas, but the mushy peas were excellent and not at all what I expected. We couldn't decide which dessert to get, so we got both. They were both delicious and on different sides of the spectrum. The sticky toffee pudding was decadent with a considerable depth of flavor. It came out warm and swimming in the toffee sauce. It was very rich. Conversely, the Eton Mess was light and refreshing, with a good balance between the cream, strawberries, and meringue. The only downfalls were the limited menu and that everyone's food came out at different times (even the desserts), which really extended the amount of time it took to have dinner. That being said, I can forgive the limited menu considering everything on it was phenomenal. If I had had to wait, that would probably have been a big drawback.

As a European myself, I knew I had to visit The Oxbow as soon as possible. I'm glad my family joined me in my foodie adventure. The fish and chips were incredibly tasty and flaky and huge. First time trying mushy peas and curry sauce; so delicious! My dream of consuming sticky toffee pudding came true; where have you been all my life? We didn't sit on the balcony since our party was too large, but it didn't matter. The loo is one of the prettiest and cleanest I've seen in a while; very charming and inviting. One of the best parts was hearing British accents throughout the dining room. So lovely that I almost felt like I was on the Isles. Looking forward to a return trip soon; no airplane ticket required. Thank you Chef Ray and staff for such a wonderful and authentic experience! Cheers! Happy yelping!
