Very nice venue for a group. Located in a nice revitalized area. Need just some more parking.

David and team brought this connection together! This venue is absolutely gorgeous. From the moment you walk towards the door, you see at the corner of the building, the unassuming yet illuminating Zen sign presence. The foyer greets with such high beautiful ceilings (and walls) with the artistic lighting. There are two other space to enter. If you continue straight, you enter a much larger area that has on its walls, wonderfully large paintings of flowers evoking both energy yet calmness. I discovered that Jeff, the owner had painted the walls and can see the nice brushstroke patterns along with the majority of the flower paintings. We were for the most part in this area which is shaped like a gigantic "L" and you would go further in and to the bottom foot area find a large bar awaiting. There was also a table of desserts and a musician. There were the hors d'oeuvre standing tables yet with nice high seats along with the comfy chairs. We had our networking, food, drinks, and murder mystery here. I've been to Zen many times in the past for several different non-profit/charity events and always so well done. This room depending on the size of attendees is an ideal spot for these types of reception/activities. If you had gone over to the right from the foyer, you would enter a huge space that has on the complete opposite side some large screen that projector is displaying and lighting. There are tables with seats and this brings back memories of when the company I worked for held their holiday parties here and this would also double up as a dance floor! There's another bar right underneath the staircase, and if you walk up the stairs, not only do you have a great view of this room (and if you were trying to search for someone dancing, walk up the stairs and gently look for your man) it also has a private suite that can act as the bridal room since such great furniture, a kitchen and bathroom complete with shower (so if you start getting cold feet, you can turn the heat on your feet)! Not only does Zen have these different space and levels, they even have an exterior space, their own zen garden. I've never noticed it before since other times I've been here, it would be dark and couldn't see OR since it was December, they had tents with heaters. There are many different options to use this beautiful place and Jeff is extremely down-to-earth and inviting. Besides hosting such fancy events, he also has hosted various dance parties. If you or the organization/company/group you identify with have a need for up to 350 people, this would be ideal!

I would highly recommend this place for a wedding or just any event. The open bar was a great choice as well, and cool bar tender too.

There is canned beer of varying prices (starting with some $1 beer, including the classic PBR) up to fancier craft beer ($3, $5, or $7) and you can pay with a card. They don't have food but their very salty popcorn is free. Inside, walls are covered in "vintage" local signs, making for some good conversation pieces. There are a couple booths on the wall, but it's mostly standing room unless you borrow a camping chair. Outside it looks liike to you're walking into a garage, but it does look like they have parking (wish I saw it before paying at the lot around the corner. It's a cute, simple little venue, and the band we saw was fantastic! I'd come back dependIng on the band.

There are several…read morebeautiful spots to sit and relax, especially near the Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville, and the bridge is a wonderful place to stroll while enjoying the soothing sound of the river and waterfall. What makes it even more meaningful is the history behind it. Beginning in the late 1700s, water-powered industries clustered along the Reedy River, including trading posts, grist and corn mills, a sawmill, an ironworks, the Gower, Cox and Markley Coach Factory, a paper-making factory, and an armory. A century later, textile and apparel mills were established along its banks. Unfortunately, the mills discharged waste and excess dyes into the river, and the Reedy began to suffer from the spoils of progress. By the mid-20th century, downtown Greenville's stretch of the river was so severely polluted by upstream textile mills that the once pristine and popular falls became desolate and unsafe. Seeing how beautiful and vibrant the area is today makes you truly appreciate the restoration and revitalization efforts. It's peaceful, scenic, and rich with history -- definitely a must-visit when you're in Greenville. Cheers!

This venue does a lot of false advertising on their website. Our function was planned from a…read moredistance and we could not see this venue in person. We were trying to plan a beautiful wedding for a military couple stationed in Japan. His family is from Greenville area. There were to be between 100-120 guest. The venue manager said the venue would hold 150 easily with no issues, as stated on the website. This is completely incorrect. The venue only has 10 sixty inch round tables for guests to be seated at and those tables only hold 8 comfortably. It seemed once they had a deposit then things started to change. The venue only had 50 chairs and we would have to rent an additional 60 as an extra charge. The entire function was cramped. We had 111 people confirmed and 6 no showed. So with 111 confirmed we had to have an 11th table that they did not have. They charged us to rent that extra table and chairs too. The venue was too small and should change their website. Another mis-truth on the website is that you have several choices of vendors. This is not true either, we were told that the caterer Southern way has exclusivity. They were more expensive than others we got menus from, so that was disappointing. The manager, Steve was rude and condescending at most times. Communication was difficult. On the day of set up, he used our muscle to help put together an Arbor that we had to pay $150 to rent for 30 mins. That's unbelievable to me that he has no employees to help him and that it wasn't included in the venue since it was in their photos online. It seemed there was an extra charge for many things, such as tablecloths. We were also charged for a security guard that was never there. At the end of the function, we had to tear it down and take the trash to the dumpster a block away. Really? Why would you rent a place that is this disorganized and includes nothing. It was a HUGE disappointment! Spend your money elsewhere. Ask lots of questions before you sign a contract. I believe this military couple was taken advantage of at contract signing because of the lies they were told. The Upper Room Greenville should be ashamed of themselves.

Arriving, there's valet out front, but I wasn't sure where to drop the car off, as they were too busy chatting to greet me, so I parked and went to greet them. They were definitely friendly once I did this, but it wouldn't been nicer if they were paying attention to newly arriving customers. Then on my last night, I dropped the car back off after I returned from dinner and told the valet I needed to leave around 4AM the next morning. He said valet doesn't open until 6AM, so he would leave my car parked out front and leave the key at the desk. Of course I came down at 4AM and my car wasn't there. The front desk lady called someone who went and got the key and car, which was contrary to what the guy told me the night before. One more issue with valet - They always had way too many cars parked in the circle out front which totally clogged traffic and prevented driving through. I went to leave and had to back out of the drive into the road rather than drive around through their circle - this was pretty dangerous. Checking in was much worse... the young man who checked me in simply gave me a key and said very little. I had to come back to ask him if there was a lounge, free breakfast, water for the room, basically all the points he's supposed to review with me. He couldn't have been more dismissive. As for the room, it was nice. Plenty of charging ports and outlets. A new modern style, with European style toilets in the bathroom and plenty of lighting throughout the room. I definitely don't like rainfall shower systems, especially with that style of handle, where there are two and you don't know which does what. The TV worked well and even had all the newer streaming services, which was great. The HVAC system was quiet and effective. Next time I'm in town I'm going to probably stay at the Westin across the street.
