We reserved one of the king's and the room was huge! We almost didn't leave. Short and non-windy road from Greenville SC and so worth it. Very reasonable pricing and loads of stores and restaurants nearby to explore. Will definitely be back!!

John and I took a weekend getaway for a leisurely weekend to Bridge Creek Inn. There we enjoyed the mountain views while exploring the wildlife, activities, and downtown shopping. Bridge Creek Inn is touted as Clayton's Living Room, a community gathering spot. You can catch a game or enjoy a cocktail from the Vandiver, their on-site upscale tavern. And being in the middle of downtown, it's THE place to stay and explore everything that downtown Clayton, GA has to offer. The moment you walk into the lobby "living room," the hotel greets you with natural wood beauty, soft wood furniture, darker wood ceiling, and plush and cozy seating areas that dot the lobby. It's calming from the second you enter. Gather by the fire, grab a quick coffee or snack at their cafe, and people watch from their cozy lounge area. It's the place to relax and unwind. Upstairs, our room was the spacious King Suite with 180 views of the mountains and downtown! Simple and clean, yet modern and new, it was a beautiful room. The bathroom was light and bright, large shower, and pristine vanity. Heading around the corner is a cozy seating area with leather chairs made for a fun reading nook. The bed area drew your eye with a dark blue accent wall, mountain decor, and a comfy, large, king bed. Plus, we could look at the Mountain View all day. As we mentioned, they have an upscale tavern restaurant on site, The Vandiver, a main street tavern. Only open for 5 days when we visited, the space has some serious casual steakhouse vibes. Think exposed wood beams and circular booths. We're impressed with the delectable shared plates, sensational dishes, and elevated cocktails! Like the Venison Wellington that's super tender and juicy deer, cooked perfectly without a hint of game. The meat is surrounded by a perfect pastry that's crunchy on the outside, yet flaky and gloating in a moat of rich and deep jus around it.

This time I stayed in a fully equipped cabin up hill, very clean with a screened porch. Cabins have been upgraded & newly renovated to keep the Appalachian charm. They are kids & pet friendly. Ask them for tubbing, canoeing, sightseeing recommendations. Best place to watch a breathtaking sunrise is Chattooga Belle Farm, a must visit 18 mins from Mountain Rest Cabins & campgrounds. -Susy Fort Lauderdale Fla.

RUN!!! DO.NOT. WALK. I don't even know where to begin. Me and my three kids booked this cabin (#25)…read moreto celebrate my birthday and as a summer vacation for the kids. The cabin was described as having air conditioning and WIFI. The MINUTE we walked in I knew we'd made a huge mistake. Not only was the place filthy (the ceiling fan was CAKED in AN INCH of dust and the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks) so we immediately went to the Walmart for cleaning supplies. But when we got back we found that there were MOUSE DROPPINGS in all the silverware and utility drawers. Since it was a holiday week and we didn't think we could get in anywhere else, we decided to rough it, buy some mouse traps and just eat out for the duration of our trip. To make things worse, there WAS no Wifi. She told us if we wanted to use the wifi we needed to come down the road and "sit in front of her office." We did that to try and check the essentials, emails, etc., and even THAT didn't work. The "air conditioning" was a single window unit that only blew warm air. We were MISERABLE. But to add insult to injury, when we got into town on the second day and got a cell signal we had a voicemail from our neighbor that there had been breakings in our subdivision, that several houses had been hit and that we needed to get home and check on our house. I explained to the owner who runs the campground what happened with our house and that we would need to leave two days early. She said she was so sorry to hear what happened and that she would refund me for the two nights we didn't stay. Despite multiple calls and emails the refund never came so I disputed the two nights with my credit card. She disputed the dispute and sent them a copy of their "no refunds" policy. ZERO humanity. This was the WORST experience of my life. Not only did we have to return home to find our house vandalized but she found a way to make a traumatizing experience for my kids even worse by adding insult to injury. How this place stays in business I will never understand. Filthy, run down and zero empathy or concern. I'd sleep on the street before I would ever stay in your run down slum again. Shame on you!
