Oh, my. Looking for a place to spend a girl's weekend with a dear friend I've not seen in a decade and happening upon the White Birch Inn website. Situated in Clayton -a sleepy, darling small town nestled between the blue ridge mountains, we are amazed by the level of service and hospitality. We arrived Friday and were warmly greeted, given a tour of the property, and welcomed to enjoy complimentary wine and cheese happy hour. Guests complete breakfast selection the night before and select both a time and location (inside or outdoors on a charming private terrace). We arranged to have a bottle of wine and chocolate strawberries waiting for us on arrival, and saved it for after dinner. We sipped and spoiled ourselves on the screened porch after dinner. I am loathe to leave tomorrow, but must return home to reality and life. Will manifest a return to this lovely place soon as this is a magical place.

I can't say enough good things about The White Birch Inn! Every little detail was beautiful! A feast for the eyes and well as for our tummies. Breakfast was unbelievable and the service was quick and friendly. The staff made us feel so at home. Our room was just the right size, the decor beautiful, and super comfortable. I slept like a baby! Loved the complimentary happy hour with wine, cheese, fruits, and crackers. We even enjoyed a game of checkers as we snacked. I could tell that Dana genuinely loved her job, keeping the bar open late to accommodate us, making us the best old fashioneds! Yum! The only down side was that we had to leave. I did not want to leave ... truly.

White Birch Inn was a great overnight get away. Clayton is a lovely town to explore and the inn is in the near of Clayton. The positives: 1. Decor 2. Staff 3. Location in Clayton 4. Breakfast Not so positives: 1. The evening wine & charcuterie were just ok. 2. The stairs are very steep and straight up/down (no middle landing). 3. The room was listed as having a mountain view in the distance. That is a stretch. 4. The bed was almost too soft. It was difficult to get in and/or roll over. I think the inn is beautiful but may be slightly over priced but would still recommend for anyone looking for a place in Clayton.

The parking could use some better signage. The food service went smoothly. Utilizing two lines is great. They squeezed far too many people in the room. Very claustrophobic. The bridal party table is located in front of the bathrooms. Rather awkward location. The sound system is AWFUL. If you want people to listen to you, they need to be able to hear you. The EMCEE needs to reduce the amount of corny jokes. We are here for the bride and groom, not you...sorry, not sorry. The plastic bags on the lights on the patio are super tacky. The use of real linens is very nice but I wish that had included linen napkins too (perhaps a client choice?)

We didnt book or pay for our room, so I am clueless there. I would guess somewhere around $100 to $110 a night? Our room was great - huge king bed, jacuzzi tub, balcony access - my only thing is there isn't a shower. It wasn't the end of the world since our family was in the next room and we could sneak over there, but it wouldn't be ideal to be in that room for a weekend if you didn't know the neighbors. The breakfast spread was lovely - pastries, muffins, waffles, cereal, yogurt, granola bars, coffee, orange juice, apple juice - we definitely didn't leave hungry. My complaint about it is (of course) the floors and stairs are a bit squeaky. Probably fine if no one is above you or people aren't getting in late, but we had just laid down to go to bed and guests arrived for the room right above us. The property was lovely and the staff went above and beyond. We were there for the entire wedding - rehersal, wedding, reception - and had no issues.

We were a party of 6 for the Thanksgiving dinner 2025. With new owners as of three or so months…read morepreviously, this was my LAST dining experience here. It was a buffet style meal. I expected turkey but they only served small thin slices of turkey breast (with giblet gravy - no traditional gravy available) and some kind of baked ham (mostly in chunky pieces) in a cabbage broth (a dish of sweet dark looking sauce available). The appetizer/salad/soup options: big bowl of mostly frissee lettuce w/ grape tomatoes, shaved carrots with a gross thick sauce of balsamic vinaigrette. There were trays of: baked root veggies, sweet potato pone, mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. The rolls were industrial like (white rolls out of a bag) not the homemade fresh baked breads I've had here before. There were bowls of Smoked CHOPPED salmon (why would anyone chop up smoked salmon?) and trout with a tzatziki sauce (not a dip) was not what one would expect. The best part of the whole meal was the butternut squash bisque. The dessert option that I chose was a small wedge of flour chocolate ganache torte. It was dry and the topping was very thin. There was fresh made whipped cream but the buffet table (overall) was not well maintained. The table service was subpar. We had plates sitting on our table for long periods of time and would have liked to have more visits by the waitress for more pours of coffee. The wine selection is not what it used to be. My Oregon Pinot Gris was served in a stumpy Chardonnay glass (ugh). For the price of this meal....we should have been treated right and fed a phenomenal holiday meal. My father and mother had experienced at least two Thanksgiving meals at Glen-Ella in recent years and raved about how good it was, which was why he shelled out the money to take me and invite friends to eat there this past Thanksgiving. The worst part was the response of the wife (Michelle) of the husband/wife owners who replied to my email whereby I described the above meal/service and the excuses I got, contradicting statements I made as if she was there and witnessed what me, my dad and our fellow diners experienced, giving excuses for such poor service and food selections. She did say the next time we return to let her know. We're not going to risk another poor and expensive experience. WE WILL NEVER RETURN. Update.....it doesn't surprise me that Michelle replied the way she did to my review. I can tell you that most people who are disappointed with food/service do NOT write reviews either on Yelp! or other review sites. But you, as a discerning buyer, can look at other reviews and see when things change for the better or worse. Buyer beware.

But when they moved to Georgia, I was so elated that I had to go and do another trail ride with them. The drive to Clayton was quite scenic, with lush greens and beautiful mountains to look at. It is about a 2 hour drive from Atlanta, but definitely worth it! Their new barn is in a residential area, with some beautiful trails heading to the mountains. The ride to the mountains was so peaceful and relaxing, and ability to trot and canter the horses was amazing, giving some added thrill to the ride. I was so happy to ride Tripoli again, who is a very beautiful and sweet white Arabian gelding. He was responsive to my commands, and was quite forgiving when making a mistake. While Tripoli's trots are a little bouncy (though, can be posted pretty easily), his canters are as smooth as a rocking horse. Ken is such a friendly and amazing guide. He really helps you learn how to control the horses correctly and helps the timid riders gain their confidence on the horses. While he makes safety of the horses and riders his highest priority, as long as the horses are up for it, and he find it safe to do so, he lets you trot and canter almost anytime you want (the only time when he suggested against it was going downhill for obvious reasons ;) ). The horses here very sweet, friendly, and well taken care of. They get fed twice per day, and get plenty of breaks during and in between the rides. They all love having treats, so be sure to bring carrots and peppermints. They will treat you even extra nice if you bring those. :) The cost of the ride is $50 for a 1.5 hour ride if only a single person is riding, or $40 per person if 2 - 4 people are riding. The ride is indeed private, with no other strangers riding with you. It is worth every penny and I can't wait to go back to Georgia and ride with them again soon!
