Common area - A warmly lit lounge with wooden floors, vintage furniture, and multiple windows, featuring chairs, tables, and decorative lighting fixtures.

My husband and I stayed a couple nights and ours kids camped at Warren Dunes. This place makes you aware of summer vacations that used to be. Serene, Peaceful, great location, and a beach that's amazing. BUT it's like stay at your grandmas - creaky, rocking chairs, the best cinnamon roll I have ever eaten. Love this place and will return with the kids next time. Hope to see this around for a very long time to come.

    The basics.

Neglected gem. What might have been a charming lodge once upon a time, the Lakeside Inn has seen better days. We booked a single night in mid-November to rest our heads after visiting a few local breweries. Our room was scattered with a hodgepodge of vintage furniture, an oversized compact fridge, crooked framed photos and time-beaten lampshades. The bathroom sink was in the bedroom, next to a small table for personal vanity items-only soap and plastic cups were offered. The lobby/communal room was kitschy with plenty of reading material, board games, and a long forgotten zinnia plant by the window. The stone fireplace was as cold as the lake. A bright spot was Dave's Cafe-you got to hand it to a friendly guy who shows up in a chef whites every morning even though the breakfast room is empty. The French toast was delicious, and the coffee abundant. In the summer, when the windowed room is full of laughing, vacationing families, I'm sure it's a lovely place to be. In November, it was a somber echo chamber. We left feeling that this is what an inn looks like when its waiting to close. Forever.

Coffee and orange juice are abundant. My room was a birch room and was very spacious since I was the only guest. It contains a separate bath off the bedroom which made it an en-suite. The tv worked and there was a small fireplace in the room which emitted heat if you needed it. The design of the shower did not suit the bathroom because it needed to be deeper. Too much water escapes and gets on the floor. The blinds and microwave need cleaning - desperately. Hopefully, that will get done. Sleeping at night was great because it was very quiet. Overall, a great stay at the inn. That part-time housekeeper needs to get hired to make it excellent!!!

You get extra privacy with the separate entrance and building, as opposed to other B&Bs where you're in a central house. Bill's and the other cabin are totally free standing, the other units are all one long building with separate outdoor entrances. The main lobby/ house area is a few steps away and where breakfast is served as well as where you can grab soda or bottled water at any hour. There's also a lot of local brochures and an awesome DVD collection. We stayed over the rainiest weekend of all time. The cabin was cozy and we certainly enjoyed that amazing DVD collection- something for everyone. There is wifi which seemed a tad slow, but given the location and weather I was not surprised by that. The cabin stayed toasty even though we didn't turn up the thermostat or light the wood stove. The hot tub was quite nice for an evening when it finally stopped raining for an hour. Bill's Cabin is totally adorable in its rustic décor, and we absolutely loved the cat theme too! We were also told the cabins are pet friendly. Breakfast in the morning is great- pastries, yogurt, fresh fruit (HUGE honey crisp apples!!), juice, coffee. Great company with other guests and the owner, AJ. When we arrived the first night (around 8pm due to crazy weather), AJ was waiting and ready to give us a little tour. He even directed us to some local restaurants that would still be serving dinner. Location is a short drive to all the tourist locations and just a couple blocks from the lake. While I'm usually very frugal, I felt White Rabbit Inn was well worth the expense and we plan to come back for our first anniversary.
