My husband and I spent our "post wedding" getaway at the Rabbit Run Inn. We chose it pretty randomly... my new married name is the same as the town. We were pleasantly surprised at how modern the room was. Everything felt brand new and was decorated so wonderfully. The couple that owns the Inn are very kind and helpful. After check-in, we didn't even see them unless we went downstairs specifically to talk to them. What I loved was that each room has it's own private entrance and balcony. The coffee/wet bar was great. When we checked in, we found a bottle of wine, brie and crackers in our room. Every morning we had wonderful scones waiting by our door. They provide both regular and decaf coffee, espresso and an assortment of teas. I loved going in their backyard and watching the koi. They have a jar of food you can toss in. Watch out though. That pond is a breeding ground for swarms of maneating mosquitos!!! We're thinking of going back each year on our anniversary we enjoyed our stay so much! read more

Renters be alarmed: the owners are bad people and will try to scam you. They seem nice, but the house is dirty, moldy and has a bug issue. Also, the locks from the dining room to the outside don't work/lock. We stayed here with grandparents, parents and seven kids. When we checked out the owners charged our credit card again claiming we had vandalized the house (vomit, wine stains, blood everywhere, furniture damage). I repeatedly requested proof via email and phone calls. No response! The only time they responded they threatened me with a lawyer. Be sure to take pictures before and after your stay, maybe even shutdown the credit card promptly to prevent further charges. I had a girls weekend getaway with my girlfriend, & let me say that we could not have picked a more perfect place for it. The photos online don't do this place justice. As soon as we drove onto the property we knew this was going to be a very special place. We checked in with Rodney, who is such a sweetheart, & showed us to our room & gave us a tour of the property. There was plenty of space for us to lounge on the couch & bed. The bar area came complete with a sink, a mini fridge with a few surprises inside, & a coffee maker with coffee grounds/tea. The bathroom was very clean & modern, there was even a vanity stool for applying makeup. We were blown away by the nature that greeted us when we stepped onto our private deck with lawn chairs. Pretty sure I heard a woodpecker! A breakfast consisting of fruit & pastries awaited us every morning at our door. Rodney even left us a hand drawn map of the area for our convenience. Those are personal touches you can't get at a regular hotel. I was so sad to leave this beautiful & homey inn :( But I am already making plans to return soon! My boyfriend and I were traveling from Detroit to Chicago on a Sunday night and decided to stop and stay the night on a whim. We were truly impressed with everything the Inn had to offer. From the moment we pulled up, we were intrigued with the quaintness of the house; the entire property was remarkably well maintained, a perfect setting for a romantic weekend. The owners were wonderful, very hospitable without becoming "overly curious" as can be a concern at small B&B's. The room was spotless and in perfect shape (fresh paint and clean, comfy beds) with brand new, top of the line (mostly Kohler) fixtures. The owners recommended Soe Café with which we were very pleased as well. Overall absolutely wonderful experience, we've promised ourselves to return in the near future to take in the entire town. read more

I chose the Rabbit Run Inn because it gets great reviews and it is close to Greenbush Brewing and Round Barn brewpub. It is also very close to the Warren Dunes state park. A perfect location for a beercation! The inn is located on a little gravel road surrounded by trees. The guest parking is the second entrance to the property by the garage. The path from the parking to inn is loose stones. I only mention this because it is not conducive to the use of rolling luggage. I'm fine with carrying my luggage, but I notice these things. It wasn't immediately obvious to me where I should go to check in, but luckily Linda Jo saw us and things went smoothly after that. Check in time is officially 4PM, but our travel schedule brought us there around 2:30PM. She gave us a quick tour of the room and let us drop off our luggage as they put the finishing touches on the cleaning. That's all I really wanted anyway because we were on our way to Greenbush, which is just a 30 minute walk away. I stayed in the "Ginko" room on the ground floor. Unlike many B&B rooms that I have stayed in, this one appears to have been custom built to be a hotel. It is spacious and well laid out. The main room has the obvious bed, but also a full size couch. There is a little micro "kitchen" nook with a sink, fridge and coffee/espresso maker. They supply coffee, milk and juice. Real glasses and mugs were a nice touch. I hate using disposable stuff. The bathroom is huge with more room than I have at home. Every corner of the room was immaculately clean. I felt bad when I inadvertently brought a little of Warren Dunes back with me the next day. Speaking of the dunes, we took advantage of the bikes that were available for loan. They are parked by the garage and there are locks and helmets in a plastic box. It was really nice to be able to hop on and go without having to bring my own equipment. Keep in mind that these are communal bikes so they have been abused a little and are not tuned for racing, but they were perfect for a leisurely ride to the dunes. I slept well both nights of my stay. The bed was very comfortable and it is so quiet outside. I had my worries when I heard my upstairs neighbors pounding around like elephants, but luckily they settled down around 10PM. The A/C unit was completely unobtrusive and if you have read any of my other hotel reviews you know how important that is to me. Each morning a little basket with a warmed baked item and a piece of fruit for each of us was placed by the door. This is not a full breakfast, but it is a nice start to the day with fresh coffee that you can make whenever you are ready. Unfortunately I could always tell when it was about time for the basket to be delivered because I could hear the repeated beeping of the microwave as things were being warmed up. Maybe I am extra sensitive to these things, but that became my alarm each morning. I don't usually mention the TV as part of my vacation lodging reviews because every place has the same basic cable package. What I really liked about Rabbit Run was the AppleTV with Netflix. This allowed me to wind down from my day's adventure with a commercial free movie which is just how I watch at home. I hate commercials and watching them is something I only do on vacation. There's something wrong with that. Overall, I really liked the Rabbit Run Inn. I'm giving it five stars... not because it is perfect, but because any disappointments I experienced were minor and we each have our own preferences. The lack of full breakfast makes this more like a boutique hotel than a B&B, but that is fine with me. I would definitely stay at Rabbit Run Inn again. read more

My birthday getaway at the Rabbit Run Inn was a cozy little winter paradise. This immaculate B&B has all the amenities (well, almost all...I'll get to that in a second) one could want and even a few surprises. First, it's the cleanest, tidiest place I've ever seen. Their housekeeping service is truly amazing and I hope well paid. We usually tip the housekeeping staff when we travel, but we left a little extra this time. Next, the bathroom: fluffy towels, great water pressure in the shower, and a nice selection of toiletries. Also, the hairdryer is full size, not one of those travel-size dryers that feels like it's just a person blowing their hot breath on you. Not at all, it's got some power. As for the breakfast, I was just a bit disappointed, but the hubs thought it was great. Here's why: They don't have a communal room where guests meet for a hot breakfast. Therefore, the owners leave an insulated basket at your door each morning (no knocking, just leave and go) with muffins, scones, and fruit, and you grab it when you wake. We both really enjoyed the privacy this afforded us (no offense to the other guests, but we don't really want to make small talk with you when we're hungover), but I do like a hot breakfast on the weekends. That said, I was amazed that these muffins stayed warm in a foot of snow for an hour...that basket really has some magical insulation! The coffee bar in each room has rich coffee, a nice variety of tea, and even espresso. A nice surprise. I wasn't really interested in trying the espresso maker, but it looked simple enough. There was juice and milk in the fridge, so everything was just fine for the morning meal. Another surprise was Apple TV. We didn't really watch a lot of TV while we were there, but it's a nice touch. The beautiful gazebo out back looked gorgeous in the snow. I can image it's a nice centerpiece in all seasons. Each room has a cute little deck, which wasn't accessible during the blizzard that sealed our doors shut while we were there, but I'm sure it's lovely during the other three seasons. Perhaps you can grill out during the warmer months? I honestly can't remember if the owners said this is an option, but it would be really nice. Another reason we chose RRI is proximity to some of our favorite places to imbibe. It's a very short drive to Greenbush Brewery, Fitzgerald's, and Mesa Luna, and a bit of a longer trek (although worth it) to Journeymen Distillery. You can't go wrong at any of these establishments, I highly recommend each one. So what was missing at RRI, and why did I give it 4 stars instead of 5? The walls are pretty thin. You can use your imagination and fill in the rest. But this is also a bit of a problem since we were on the lower level and someone was above us. I swear it sounded like they were wearing wooden clogs up there. Not a deal-breaker since the RRI is really an exceptional B&B in the perfect location, but definitely annoying. I would recommend booking early and asking for a second floor room. Also, since it was February and we had a lovely snowfall, a fireplace would have been just perfect. Mesa Luna has a great fireplace, so we enjoyed theirs instead. But, I'm a huge fan of Rabbit Run Inn and would recommend it to anyone. You won't be disappointed. read more

Highly recommend this place for a weekend getaway from Chicago. We stayed here this past weekend on extremely short notice, and were pleasantly surprised with how convenient the location was and how nice the amenities were. Sawyer is a pretty small town, and the Inn is located centrally to both the town center as well as the nearby wineries, beach and Dunes State Park. Nothing is more than a few minutes drive away. As others mentioned, the owners are very nice but also very non-intrusive. The bed was super comfy, the room was large, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. The only complaint would be lack of Wifi, but when you're on vacation, then who really cares? read more

Great place to stay for a cozy weekend getaway. The rooms have a very clean, modern decor.. not the typical kitschy B&B stuff. Unfortunately the wine and cheese basket is only for guests who stay 2+ nights. We stayed one night and got a box with two delicious scones on our doorstep in the morning. Yum! Love this place. Our family stayed here for a last-minute Fall getaway. I think it's the best hotel/inn option in the area. Very quaint place with beautifully decorated, but not cliche'd rooms. We had a nice visit and a glass of wine with them, and then went off and did our own thing. Very comfortable, clean, friendly, a nice place! My husband and I were looking for a quiet, quick and relaxing Memorial weekend getaway during my pregnancy and came across this little, cute, amazing place in Chicago Magazine. After traveling through several wineries that were close by we arrived here, at our final destination. We were pleasantly surprised of how well thought out everything was at this small B&B. Rodney and Linda Jo had a packet ready and waiting for us upon our arrival with all the information on things to do and places to go. Linda Jo took us to our room, showed us around and made sure we were comfortable with all the amenities. The beach is located very close and Rodney and Linda Jo have all the beach necessities available for use (umbrella, chairs and beach towels) ... You are also able to take bikes there, that they have available for you during the stay. We went to the beach to watch the sunset and came back to sit out on the private patio and unwind by their cute pond located in the back of the property. Overall, I highly recommend Rabbit Run Inn for the uber comfortable bed, their morning pastries with freshly squeezed orange juice, their accessibility to the apple tv and for their hospitality:) We will be coming back very soon, this time for 2 nights cause 1 night was just not enough and with bug spray to be able to sit out on the patio a little longer. read more

Fantastic weekend get away. Owners were delightful but not overly talkative / intrusive. Room was spacious and very well appointed. Bed was uber comfortable! Complementary used of beach paraphernalia was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was nothing special but personally appreciate minimal interaction on weekend getaway. Highly recommended! read more
