If you decide to stay in one of the cabins, you should remember to bring a big can of RAID. We had a 3 night reservation and found that we were sharing the place with woodlice. Also known as pill bugs or roly polys. They come out at night. The first night, there was only about a dozen of them. We dispatched them and went about our business. It seemed like they were coming out of the shower drain, so we covered it up. The second night, they doubled down. About 40 of the invaders arrived. We took care of the problem like the troopers we are. On the third night, we returned to our cabin at midnight. There was a flash mob of crustaceans waiting for us. The floors were alive with hundreds of the buggers. We swept them up and dumped them into the toilet, but they kept coming. They seemed to be coming from everywhere. Out of the woodwork. From under the bed. From the water heater closet. Fortunately, these Armadillidium Vulgare don't bite or sting. But it's not pleasant when they meet their demise under your bare feet. And it's pretty creepy when they're crawling on you in bed. In the morning, when we checked out, we reported the assault to Kelli at the front desk. She seemed a little skeptical until I showed her a picture of the toilet, loaded with a large group of captives about to meet their maker. Kelli asked why we didn't call them about the problem. The first 2 nights, it didn't seem like a big deal. The 3rd night was different. And, it was midnight. We didn't like the idea of waiting for someone to blast the bugs (and us) before we go to bed. And, we had already been informed that all other cabins had been rented. Kelli understood and wanted to offer compensation, but the manager would have to approve it. The manager was in a meeting. She offered to talk to the manager, and we would get a call from them later. Kelli called about a half hour later to tell us that the manager credited us 10% for our trouble. Well, I guess that about covers the sales tax. read more

rented this cabin for a weekend getaway with friends, and unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations. Upon arrival, we were immediately disappointed by the state of the cabin. The floors had duct tape stuck to the tiles, likely covering up cracks, which was a safety hazard. The kitchen was also in poor condition - there were coffee stains on the counters and crumbs left on the kitchen table from previous guests. In the bedroom, the light fixture didn't work, though there was a lamp as a workaround. Things only got worse when we pulled out the futon from the couch. The mattress was stained and dirty, with food wrappers stuck to it, indicating it hadn't been properly cleaned. To top it off, the bathroom door wouldn't lock, which was concerning for privacy and safety. While I considered filing a complaint with the office, I was hesitant as it was a weekend and I feared there would be no other cabins available. Given the high price for just two nights, I was expecting much better quality. Sadly, this cabin did not live up to the standards I was hoping for, and I left feeling truly disappointed. I really hope the property addresses these issues for future guests. Good nature views though. But for the amount I paid you could honestly get a better hotel room. read more

We have stayed in the small cabins many times. We realize they are old but we were disappointed in them this trip. It looked clean but the kitchen table was very sticky so hadn't been cleaned. The handle on the microwave was only attached on the bottom it had been glued by the looks of it. There was no kitchen towel(there always has been in all the years past), the air-conditioned worked but didn't cool the room very well. The bathroom was clean it seemed but 1st night about 10 or so rolls poly bugs were crawling in the shower and on the bathroom floor easy enough to kill. 2nd night there were a few more in the bathroom and bedroom area-thankfully they don't bite. Third night we were gone from 6-12am when we walked in there were 100's coming out of the bathroom, shower drain/closet for water heater. We thankfully had a broom and swept them up putting them in the toilet. They were in the bedding even. We didn't call the office we were tired and didn't want to have someone spraying poison just before we slept. Checking out we told the girl she looked like she didn't believe us but we had pictures. Nothing was offered but I did ask to talk to the manager-they were in a meeting but was told they'd call me. And 30 min later the girl at the desk did call and said manager said they'd give us a 10% discount. Which we did appreciate. I know we'll go again but we'll add bug spray to our list of things to bring. read more

Arrived after check-in time of 3:00 and was told rooms are not cleaned yet! My phone number was taken to call us when ready! Was able to check out the lobby and hallways where Artwork is on display(for sale). Also some local pictures of historical interest! The lobby has worn furniture and floors were not cleaned! Room ready within an hour of check-in! The rooms are nice! Balcony overlooking the lake! Great views on a mostly secluded balcony! Enjoyed the weathered looking cement floors with a small area of carpet under the bed! Would stay here again, but plan on checking in latter than check-in time! read more

We are staying in a cabin for four in the State Park. The office was kind and made it easy to move our stay during the Texas Snowstorm. The lake is clear and gorgeous. It is worth the drive from Dallas alone. The lodge area is nice to walk around and see the sites if you're not into hiking. There is a restaurant on the property that is reasonably priced and smells amazing. Reminder: masks are optional at many places here. Use what you feel best for your family. The cabin is much smaller than other Oklahoma state parks. We choose a new one to visit each year. The cabin has a lot of room for updates but I know that can be pricey. It depends on your personal level of comfort. My family felt fine here for the weekend. This state park does not give kitchen supplies like previous cabins we have stayed in. Be aware to bring everything you need from home. The closest grocery store is 17 minutes away in town. My main issue was that the outside property was dirty and you can tell they aren't cleaning between guests. There are many hiking trails but unfortunately it was too foggy today. Hopefully we get to go out tomorrow. In the Summer you can tell this place is amazing and so much fun. It is set up for a lot. This is a great quick get away for the family. read more

Came here with a group of couples. It was about 18 of us in total for the weekend. This lake and State Park has many things to offer those visiting. Cabins located through out and around the lake. Great for boats and fishing and family fun. BBQ grils and water front camping. Well patrolled by a small community of Rangers that work there. Fairly safe, however I would recommend planning ahead before going. Sometimes finding a camping spot if you plan on staying there is a bit hard. Lodging is available at Lake Murray State Lodge. Park has issues with cleaning the parking lot, they are working on those issues. Has nothing to do with the workers there, just the people that stay there. We had a great time and we're looking forward to returning. read more

Best.Camping.Ever. First of all, I hate camping or "roughing it" but my husband's family love's it. We decide to rent a small cabin because that's the only way I was going to "camp" in 102' degree weather. Anyways, The cabin was adorable! Plenty of space for our family (3 people and dog) and had a ice cold AC! I read previous reviews saying the cabins needed updated but it nice inside. It was clean, the bathroom looked updated and the kitchen was a perfect size with a table, stove, fridge. The also had a flat screen TV with cable! It was like staying in a hotel! Of course, you will need to bring your own plates, cooking supplies and food... but they supplied towels, blankets, pillows, etc. Our cabin was across the street from the Pool and splash pad! Which was a perfect location! They had a really cool area in the lake with floating climbing and jumping things. There is such much here.. and I don't feel like writing much more but this was all walking distance from our cabin: snow cones, boat tours,pool, splash pad, restaurant, pool, etc. read more

Friendly staff, nice modern lodge with spacious seating and overlook of the lake, we was able to check in early, that was awesome. The rooms are spacious, 36 TV, pull out sofa, mini fridge and microwave, we love view of the lake from our room, able to sit on your private patio and watch the boaters. Be mindful you're on cement floors so if have wet feet, be aware it's a bit slippery. Our only complaint is wifi is spotty (they block Fox News app,SMH) We would stay here again, wish they had a tiki bar nearby for adults, that would be kewl. read more

This review is solely based on the new lodge, but wow is it beautiful! I had never visited Lake Murray before, and a recent work trip brought me to the area. All of the locals said I must stay at the new lodge. I could tell it was a big deal, but I didn't want to go in with too high of expectations either. I was blown away by the gorgeous facility which overlooks the lake. The rooms are nicer than many expensive hotels I've stayed at. They also have a balcony/patio with chairs that face the lake which lends to the peaceful atmosphere. I don't know what it was like before, but the renovation is amazing. I would love to come back and spend a weekend here as I only got to stay one night. read more

The kids were off for a few days this week for Fall Break, and so we decided this would be the perfect opportunity to do some camping. We had camped earlier in the summer and had fun but the weather was scorching and the bathrooms were a fail. So coming here, those two things were fresh in our minds. Here's three big things that we liked and were important to us: 1) Park Staff was monitoring and driving through the park and camping area on a very regular basis. Any potential issues could be eliminated or quickly resolved as a result. 2) we tent camped at Marietta Landing and it was amazing. Electric and water were available (if you took an RV site), but still had trees and nature rather than just a parking pad. 3) Tucker Tower and the Lake Murray Nature Center were a great place to visit and learn about this Lake & State Park's history. A 'must visit' if you come to the lake! Next time, we want to come back and try the floating cabins, and the water sports area! Note: we did discover that some Lake activities were closed for the summer season unfortunately. The water sports area, and mini golf are open April-September. read more

I come here almost every day, swimming, hiking, fishing, boating, off roadin, etc., it's no secret that southern Oklahoma has some of the best weather in the country like 300 days a year plus !!! of pure sunshine, and that makes for great lake weather! Lake Texoma, the more popular lake is 45 mins away and most people frequent that lake it's so much bigger but our little lake Murray is somewhat of a secret and what a great secret it is! I been coming to this lake for the last 12 years, walking my great Danes down by the lake or on Buckhorn trail. I always see deer, fox, road runners, ducks, geese, etc., the trails are quite beautiful and recently have been better marked with new signage hurray for that!!! I got lost one day and I live near by & know the area lol The marina area has a free swim beach, a cafe, kids playground and BBQ areas. A great area for a day trip. For overnighters, there is cabins, a lodge, RV hookups, tent camping and the new floating cabins are sweet!!! Prices are reasonable too :) In the fall, pecan grove is the best place to hang out as the sun shifts in the sky. Tips point is great with spectacular views of the lake it has BBQ's, firepits & a very cool old stone outbuilding for large parties. Elephant rock is also a great place to camp & have a fire :) There is also a castle on this lake called Tucker tower. It was build for the Govonor back in the day who never lived there. It has since been turned into a museum and recently a whole brand new building for the museum has opened. There is hidden swim areas all around this lake that only the locals know about. Sunset beach on the other side of the lake is a fantastic spot for watching the sunsets, there is no better place :) Jason Aldean says it best about the "Oklahoma sunsets in your eyes like a water colored painted sky, you think heavens doors have opened" and it's always just that stunning. Swimming off the cliffs is kinda frowned upon but we do it anyway bc you can jump off them just dont go too close to the water tower. Cops will make you leave lol. Lake Murray is a limestone lake, so the water is so clear you can see the bottom most places...there is also a couple islands in the middle and a secret beach called "bitch beach" but you might have to swim over there lol sometimes, depending on the water levels, you can off road on the ATV trails, there is also a area to fly your remote aircraft :) Some of the best times of my life with my friends, my family, and with my hubby have been spent on and around this lake, recently my 10th anniversary and our Independence day, 4th of July. It's a part of me. Quoting Aldean again... "there's still black marks on that county road where we drag raced our pick ups & weathered the summer rain, there's still a rope burn on that branch that hangs over the lake, still got the scar, from swinging out a little too far. There ain't a corner of this hollowed ground that we ain't laughed and cried on. It's where we loved, lived, & learned life's stuff, it's everything we are made of....I take a ride, look around & there's no doubt. It sure left it's mark on us, we sure left our mark on it. Let the world know we were here with everything we did, I've laid a lot of memories down, and we will always be hanging round!" Bluest, clearest water of all the state lakes in Oklahoma. I grew up camping and swimming near Tucker Tower and Group Camp 3, and can't imagine any state lake that I like better than good old Lake Murray. (And yes, Republicans, you may swim here even though you wouldn't have this beautiful reservoir were it not for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his Works Progress Administration. This was our second year going to Lake Murray, and we will be back again next year. First of all, you can't beat the price on a state park. We got a large cabin with a kitchen for only $88 a night. They also have Lodge rooms, but I would definitely recommend the cabin. The lodge is a little dark and has a weird smell to it. They are building a new lodge so I'm sure that will be really nice when it's built. The cabins are very nice, and pretty spacious. They have refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, and comfy beds. The only negative on the rooms are the bathrooms. The showers are open and not an actual tub. Other than that, we loved the cabins. They have lots of trails for you to go hiking on. Some are nicely paved, and some are nature trails. The park is always very clean, with lots of families, couples, boaters, and all kinds of people. There is a large swimming pool that we used quite a bit. There is a huge shallow end, and the deep end gets all the way to 11 feet deep. On site there is a putt putt golf place, a beach that's really close, and lots of other things to do. We really love it here. Lots of trees and nature. This has become a yearly outing for us! read more

ZERO amenities! No restaurant, bar ir food/drink period! Told us we have to drive to Ardmore (10 miles away). No transportation available. We are the ONLY ones staying here, and they put us in Pod B, furthest from the main lodge. Nice room, but nothing to do! All of the water toys are done for the season (even though they are all out there in the water). No breakfast, no compensation. Simple suggestion, take care of your guests! read more

The last two years they stopped making the homemade dishes and started serving food that tastes like it came from Sam's Club. Well head somewhere else next year. Stayed in a 1 bedroom cabin that was nicely updated. The living area had a pullout sofa bed. The full kitchen was enticing. However our 3-day stay didn't warrant us buying/bringing our own dishes and cooking utensils. At least the linens were provided. The shower could have been cleaned better, but we just wore flip flops and enjoyed the fact that we had hot running water. There was a stench of dead animal wafting from the woods at the back of our cabin, but we were out and about most of the time. The price was a little lower than cabins in the Davis area. Unfortunately the lake levels were down, so we didn't get to do everything we had hoped. And the rental place inside the park was way overpriced for their water vessel rentals. Not to mention, the kayak permitted area is so tiny it's almost laughable; the saving grace was the tree trunks and rocks emerging from beneath the water which provided an obstacle for the boys to maneuver. Nature hikes and Tucker tower afforded beautiful views of the surrounding flora & fauna. Overall, I think everyone enjoyed the trip. But we'll probably check into lake level before our next trip here. read more

This is a very clean and nice park. My wife and I stopped by here briefly and played mini-golf beside the lake. The area is very pretty!!

I escorted my father here for his college reunion. The hotel is very clean and new. Our room had two double beds and a nice balcony onto the lake. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of hot water. WiFi worked well. We were in one of the outer building and not part of the main hotel. The only issue for us was that the outer building have no elevators, only stairs. We were on the second floor. Hence, you will have to carry your bags up the stairs. Probably not a big deal for most people but when you are in your 80s it can be an issue. There also doesn't appears to be in housekeeping. We were only there for two nights but housekeeping never came. The AC worked well but it always ran. It never turned off in 48 hours. The hallway was 85+ degrees and our room was in the 70s. No matter what we turned it to it ran and stayed at the same temperature. The only way to turn it off was to actually turn it off. In a short period of time it would get warm and we would have to turn it back on. It was a tad loud but we adjusted quickly. The reunion was held primarily in one of their conference rooms. The food was provided by the resorts in those conference rooms was decent. The resort is a bit away from anything else so your only option for food is the hotel restaurant. It was fine but a tad understaffed. It was difficult for them to manage when the reunion was going on and everyone was in the restaurant. Check out was easy. Overall a decent stay and nice reunion. Next time I will be sure to get a room within the actual hotel and not in one of the out buildings. It would also be nice if you could book online in some fashion. read more

The winter time hiking is great. We only saw one other human on the trails, but a variety of beautiful birds. The wild geese were beautiful on the lake. We stayed in a little cabin with a fireplace and roasted marshmallows indoors since is was 27 degrees outside. The cabin was pet friendly and clean. The kitchen had appliances, but as advertised, pans and dinnerware is not provided. I came prepared with my electric griddle! The towels were much nicer than expected. We had a great time hiking and relaxing. read more

Stayed at a cabin at Lake Murray. It was small but nice. State of Oklahoma has rebuilt the Lodge and worked on the cabins. The restaurant the Blue Heron was good for breakfast buffet. Plenty of southern food on the line. Coffee was great and it was $9.00 a person. View was fantastic. Saw 24 geese in the water. The staff is very friendly. The are short a few people but it just reopened. Give them time to get all organized. It is peaceful and law enforcement is present all the time. Went to ATV trails and had a blast with Can-Am. The gate entrance is 71". If you are to wide you will not get in. Controls the ATV beast groups. Plenty of things to do in the area. Campers here are friendly. Bring your on firewood and save a little money. Be sure to have your own eating utensils at the cabin, there are none. The furnish bedding and towels. Showers are large. Kitchen is small in two person cabin but Okay. Grill outside cooks a mean steak with good charcoal. Come here and have a good time resting and relaxing under the trees. Metal detectors require a $25.00 permit good for 1 calendar year. read more

Stay here if you would like to be kept up all night by a rattling heater that breaks the second after the repair men pretend to fix it. The repair men who also stole my expensive supplement out of my dresser drawer and the hotel did nothing to compensate me. But that's okay I only drove across the state to stay here and not get any sleep or feel safe. read more

We recently stayed at Lake Murray Resort as a part of a large family reunion. We had been dealing with staff for a year leading up to this event - and everyone we spoke with couldn't have been more helpful and kind. The best customer service we've ever had at an Oklahoma State Park facility (we've been having this reunion since 1991, four different state parks, first time at Lake Murray). This location was PERFECT for our event. Something for everyone - miniature golf, lake boating/jetski/water amusement activity, a terrific pool with children's water slide area. The lodge is beautiful with large, comfortable rooms. The ballrooms, in which our group activity and meals were held, was well staffed for every activity. Someone was always around cleaning up after us (even though we didn't expect them to) - the room was always cleaned between meals with fresh linen on the tables. The catered meals, snacks and desserts were absolutely delicious and plentiful! Also in the ballroom/meeting rooms - state of the art/modern audio visual equipment. It was very easy to use. Those attending with large families and pets stayed in the air conditioned cabins, and all were happy with their accommodations as well. We hope to secure a reservation for our next reunion. We drove up from Dallas for two nights with boat in tow to experience this incredibly beautiful lake and this new property. Neither disappointed. Know that we are admitted lake "snobs." We take our boat everywhere in Texas - Lake Austin, Travis, Possum Kingdom, LBJ & Texoma. We love to experience different spots with our boat. So, I have lofty expectations and just any lake experience isn't often good enough. This place is magical. The resort is just phenomenal. The rooms were gorgeous, big and the air conditioning was ice cold. We loved the concrete floors in the rooms. The restaurant had received some not-so-favorable reviews on Yelp so I was worried about that. But it (The Blue Heron) was fantastic. The service was so good, nice people and the chicken-friend-steak was one of the best I have ever had. The lake is the bluest color of any lake I've ever been on. Only in the Caribbean have I seen clearer prettier water. The ONLY thing to fix at this resort? Incredibly... it's the COFFEE! The auto Keurig-style coffee maker in the room worked as one would expect. But the coffee at the Blue Heron was just terrible. I mean - like instant coffee almost. But it's such an easy fix right? Get a decent coffee source and this place is damn near perfect. Only other watch out is that you only get access to an elevator in the main attached hotel. The separate pods do NOT have an elevator which is unacceptable when you have kids. Other than these two issues - I highly recommend. read more

As others have said, the lake itself is absolutely gorgeous and offers a wealth of outdoor activities, including hiking, swimming, and boating, as well as bike trails and scuba spots. The lodge has its pros and cons. On one hand, the staff is impossibly friendly and accommodating, the restaurant is quite good and reasonably priced, and the location is perfect. On the other hand, the rooms are outdated and not very clean. They're in desperate need of renovation. Lots and lots of bugs. We wore bug spray to bed! No screen door. Dirty carpets, dilapidated furniture, loud AC and footsteps overhead, no wi-fi in the rooms (lobby only). We stayed in a two-bedroom lakefront suite with fridge, microwave, and coffee pot for $150, but had we seen the room first, we wouldn't have paid more than $100. Overall, this is good for families doing a lot of outdoor activities if you pay $75/night or less. Don't expect luxury. Do expect a warm, inviting staff and a great location. Overall read more
