Such a beautiful gem locals said there's plenty of fishes from trouts to bass. The kids love the different species all around. There's even a nice little paved trail for the kiddos without much incline. Def a place to visit if you're here for vacation. read more

Lovely park in the middle of the Kent/Federal Way area. I've passed it so many times and had no idea! My son loves to go here to go "hiking." They've got trails here that are nice and shaded, so it's great for warmer days. Trail runs mostly in the woods, with big clearings that open up for you to check out the lake. There's some floating docks here that are awesome to walk across the lake on - be aware they don't have railings though, so you'll have to keep a close eye on little ones. You'll see several people fishing here. Not sure what they have for catching, but every time we've gone there have been people out. We've seen some tiny fish in the lake which my son loves. We've also seen RIVER OTTERS here which I never would've expected! They were so cute and it was so exciting for my son to see! Also expect lots of ducks. The only downside to this place is humans. LOL but literally. There's quite a bit of trash and litter throughout the park, on the trails, on the banks of the lake. It's really disappointing to see. The trailhead parking lot is also a little more secluded than the actual lake parking lot - I recommend parking in the lake lot. The first time we came here I parked at the trailhead and there was a man doing drugs in his car... So. Yeah. I swear it really is a nice park though. Worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for an hour or so to kill! read more

So, so much improved since my previous review! Back then the float dock was sinking and the park had kinda fallen in to disrepair (though I see that "the bicycle" is still there?!). Things have been cleaned up for quite awhile now and I'm finally getting around to updating my review! This is a pretty sizable park, complete with walking trails, fishing, a disc golf course, and other typical park "stuff" (picnicking, frolicking in the grass... you know the drill). One of my favourite parts has always been the floating walkway/dock thing that allows you to cross over the lake in the middle of all the lily pads. Come in the mornings or evenings and there's a good chance you'll find turtles and frogs!There's also plenty of fish in the water and this park is a popular fishing area. Trails are very compacted dirt and well maintained. Plenty of space to get a decent walk in, and there are some stairs if you feel like you haven't punished yourself enough recently. Parking can be tricky. Come early/late, or be prepared to cram in where you can! read more

We stumbled upon the partially frozen lake on an accident. It was quiet when we got here; we were the only people. The docks were frozen, the lake was partially frozen and the ducks were everywhere. Snow looked undisturbed and the ambiance was serene and meditative. Definitely a place to revisit every winter read more

Lake Fenwick is pretty peaceful and quaint. It's a decent sized lake in the neighborhood that great for a stroll on the trail or fishing in the waters. I haven't done the trail yet, but I read on the bulletin board that it is about 1-2 miles, depending on the trail you want to do. They have this beautiful dock that looks pretty new. I wish there were more benches on the dock or around the area. There's a bunch of lily pads around and ducks. The water is a little murky looking, so I'm not quite sure about swimming in here...Since 2018, I've read that it is safe to swim, however. Whenever I come here, there seems to be some teens that are smoking weed or not so great individuals that are hanging out in the parking lot. However, it the daytime, it's pretty safe, it appears. read more

A gorgeous park that encompasses a lake that in the fall season reflects the most breathtaking colors. There are a few hikes and trails you can follow but be sure to look for signs as markers aren't really visible. This park/ lake trail is pretty secluded so it's a great place to go for a brisk walk or if you're looking to clear your head. We followed a 1.5 one way and 3 mile all together hike and it wasn't intense at all, there were a few stairs that lended good cardio but aside from that; don't expect a mountainside hike! read more

I very much enjoy this park! I may be a little biased because it's close to me, but honestly it just perfect for what I need. Yes we all wish it was cleaner water that people were technically allowed to swim in but who cares. I have swam in it. It's actually nice to float around and tan (when there is sun! Hahaha when that rare occasion happens) or just stay cool. I take my dogs and walk them all the time. It's nice because in some parts are very dense. You know it's not a over populated park. You can get lost by yourself because it's kind of hidden. Don't have to get dressed up in your fancy jogging clothes or have your perfect dog (unlike green Lake) it a park. People come to fish. I come to walk me dogs. Some people I see come to literally smoke weed. But honestly. It's being used and I'm happy about that. Just like people have said. . . There is potential. And A LOT of people use the disk course across the street. I actually go to one parking lot because there is a Pokémon gym there. AhahaHahaha! Anyways. Check it out and be nice about rating it. I love it. And I think there a lot of good qualities about it and it is somewhat like a hidden gem. ***oh yeah. Last comment. They are redoing the dock/ floating bring thing soon in late February!!!! Huge improvement from last year!! The park has been cleaned up, new floating docks, and is much more inviting now. There's a 2 mile out and back trail, which has a lot of stairs. Plenty of parking in a couple different lots. No picnic tables, but there are benches for relaxing. There's always people fishing here too. read more

It's a nice park! The path to the dock they have was muddy, so be aware and bring appropriate shoes (nothing white or permeable with mesh). My boyfriend and I came across some white ducks and had a goose hiss at him! It was a great time and while it seems a bit out of the way, it's a great place to have a small picnic and spend an hour watching the ducks on the water during Spring. I only wish they had benches to sit on the dock! read more

OK, I've been here for the umpteenth time now and figured my lazy bum could muster up some energy to finally write a review. This is an OK park for a quick workout. It's beautiful to walk around in. It's smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood and a quick way to get away. There are a couple parking areas... take your pick. I usually head to the left of the trail from the parking lot. On the way up the hill, there are big dirt steps which can be a great workout. You also get an amazing view of the lake in between the trees. The trail then winds a few at the top until you get to the top of some metal steps. There are a total of 177 steps to go down. As you continue down the trail, it turns into a wooden boardwalk behind the Woodland Estates apartment complex. This is the not-so-pretty section but the boardwalk is very well maintained. As you continue down the trail, you basically come to the end and see the intersection of 516 and Reith Road. You pretty much have to turn back and go the same way you came. You go through some heavy wooded areas but there is a nice dirt path. For those that aren't as fit as you head back, you'll have to climb up that same 177 metal steps you went down earlier and it can be tougher because you've already expended your energy walking part of the trail up and back. Hey! It's a challenge and quite fun! Heading back and passing where you had just parked is more trail that takes you near the lakefront. There are frogs, etc in the water. Unfortunately the wood dock area is fenced off. I have gone around and walked on the wood dock area but you take your chances. Some of the wood is rotting and if you don't watch your step, you may find yourself in the water. There is also a big grassy area if one wants to sit and have a picnic. Unfortunately I did not notice any bathrooms around. read more

So yah I was quite impressed with Lake Fenwick park & trails. I was a little sketched out by the parking lot on Lake Fenwick Rd and was fully expecting by car to be vandalized and all my valuables (or lack thereof) to by jacked when I got back. Aside from that, there are two trails here. I started with the one that is on the left side of the lake. It had a good progression uphill and then you walk for a short distance and then go down the stairs that are in the picture. That was kind of odd, but it may be a good stair set if you're training for something like the Big Climb or just wanting a good workout. I was fully expecting the trail to loop around the lake but after getting to the bottom of the stairs and taking a left I walked and walked and walked until I got to the boardwalk behind some apartment complex. I assume if I had went right, it may have looped around the lake. Anyway, once you walk behind the apartment complex, you basically have to walk back around to Lake Fenwick Rd back down to the parking lot. So I'd say, once you reach the boardwalk, turn around and walk back the way you came if you don't want to walk on Lake Fenwick Rd where there is hardly a shoulder to walk on. Once I made it back to the parking lot, I took the right trail which provides better views of the lake itself and many photo ops. I really liked both trails due to the variety and the sharp inclines and declines and changes in gradation and traction. It was perfect for me. I think this may not be a challenge for an expert hiker but it would work pretty well for a novice to intermediate. There were doggie doo bags and both trails were good for all size dogs. I would say this park is good for kids as well if they're up for a little hike. People were also fishing as well and picking wild blackberries and sitting in their fold out chairs relaxing by the lake. It's a really nice place to chill and I will definitely be back. read more

This is a small, fairly nice park out in Kent. It was actually bigger than I expected when we first got there -- the lake is a good size and people actually take their boats out here and fish. There is also some hiking. There is some pretty cool flora and fauna as well. We saw some wood ducks, bufflehead ducks and geese, as well as some swamp lanterns. Good way to escape the world without going too far. read more

Love this hidden gem of a park. Lots of trees and easy gravel walking trails. The lake is quiet and pretty, hopefully they'll fix the boardwalk decks soon, they're really cool. It looks like there's a lot of random debris in the lake plus the water itself stays sort of stagnant so not sure this is a place I would swim. But for a quick walk and nature getaway, this is a nice little stop. My dogs enjoyed it! I also love that it's never very crowded. read more

Nature therapy at its finest! Lake fenewick is either a hit or miss. you can be bored of it since there isnt many things to see. for one, there is a vast lake and you can only walk 20 steps across it. however i learned to be enticed by its remarkable subtleties. im frequently here just to be alone and unpack my stresses. sometimes i just sit down on the pathway and gaze at the surroundings whether it is the sway of the trees or the flamboyance of the lily pads. im the lake's only visitor and therefore im not distracted by anything else other than forgetting that time is passing by so fast. i can spend hours here alone while the presence of the lake's idyllic spirit alleviates the tensions of my emotional disposition. prior to visiting the lake, ive been undergoing through heap loads of stress. and my way of coping with mental shortcomings is being alone in this quiet area. I would rather take a walk, than depend on shopping or get together with friends to take away what's bothering me. the problem will only go away for so long but itll eventually come back like a boomerang. whatever that derives someone to emotional strain is never going to be healed from the externals, but by the internal. it is our conscious decision whether we want to experience joy as well as it is a conscious decision whether we want to be swallowed up by self-inflicted emotions. a negative mind will never result in a positive life. and there is a fine line between despair and bliss to which we have to only be aware of not crossing its boundaries, and plummeting ourselves into a decision that we do not want to later regret. we need to realize that we do have an option to release ourselves from the fatal poison of infernal discord but take a shot at the silver lining that will set us free to a perpetual ease. ive learned to accept my struggles and trust in my gods that there is a blessing that comes after overcoming. to anyone, i highly recommend a tranquil and quiet place to contemplate and become vulnerable. and this lake is my way to gain my patience as well as my peace. it has accommodated me emotionally in many ways by giving me the time and silence to escape from civilization and loosen the strings of a heavy heart read more

Looks like this may have been a good hiking place in the past, but it is all closed off now due to "Unsafe Conditions." Unfortunately, it looks like maybe some maintenance needed to be done on the bridges that just never happened. There was a lot of trash and graffiti.. Not what I was expecting. Short walk. Only about a mile worth of trails. The boardwalk is mostly closed. Hopefully they are repairing it because it's very beautiful in the fall and spring. The lake itself is pretty, some people go swimming in it. I don't think I would go swimming in the lake, maybe take a raft or something. The best part about the walk around the lake it there is a little bit of a steep incline and there is a significant amount of stairs. You can make it more challenging and it's shaded. Definitely would recommend for a day walk. read more

This park has potential to be revived, back to its glory days. However more than a year later after closing paths because of rotting wood, the park was never fixed up. Only left for near dead. The one thing to note about this park is how pretty it is. Sadly the park is not maintained at all, but the beauty of this park makes you wish it was. This lake use to be a highlight of someone's enjoyable walk along the trails, walking on the dock or fishing. Now it is a dirty old path filled with fences telling you not to pass and docks you can no longer walk on in fears that you'll fall into the dangerous water. The main dock area is a walking path so it is quite pointless going to this lake to walk a trail when you only get about 5 minutes in and realize you have to turn around because of the danger signs and partially blocked areas. But of course people can always just take the warning and walk on past the fence but if you walk out on that dock, you'll see the main bridge is sinking into the water and the water warning signs say there is dangerous debris in the water and the water itself is not safe. So take your chances if you dare. I however did and most of those planks on that main dock are scary. The last time i went, there was 2 people fishing on it and 2 people walking their dogs. But sooner or later someone is bound to get hurt. There is two parking areas in this location and a loading dock for boats (i believe you can still take your boat out here) & three Pokemon Stops for Poke Fans but they're spaced 10 minutes apart from one another but you're welcome. The first parking lot that is farthest to the North is where the long stairs are. I don't recommend parking in the north parking lot if you're afraid of heights or can't do the stairs. The parking in the middle of the lake is the easiest to park at and is more family friendly because of the view of the lake & a little grassy area for picnics and activities. This is probably the only good experience you'll get at this park right now, otherwise the trails like i said before are pretty much blocked off. There is a second trail, one that isn't shown on a map but it will take you from the middle parking lot to the south side of the lake where the boat load/unload is. However the trail itself is nothing spectacular and was probably only made due to the docks being closed. Also it's really muddy so if you're walking your dog, make sure he/she doesn't step in the mud or still water. You never know. Overall, i am kind of disappointed with this park because there is no upkeep to it and it is just a dangerous park now. I would recommend trying out other lakes like Clarke Lake or Larsen Lake. Lovely walking areas in both of those locations. read more

It was late afternoon, early evening and my wife and I decided we need to take the boys on a little walk after getting done running some errands. We Google and Lake Fenwick was near. Small trails, calm lake, partly covered with lily pads, fishing, boat launch, swimming, and the occasional sound of a frog or two in the background. I thought it was just right for WAN early evening before heading home. Not an all day event, but the trails were small where Omar could walk along oppose to me carrying him. Brought back heavenly memories from my early childhood. Wife thought it was cool and relaxing. Jaidyn, the 11 year old Once again just thought is was like whatever.....I managed to get him a little into it by starting a little game by who can spot a frog in the lily pads. Omar, the 20 month year old was happy to just be out and living life. Overall, the park fitted the right time and moment for the occasion, it was towards the end of the day and a nice cool small relaxing walk in Lake Fenwick did the job. read more
