The counselors are enthusiastic, supportive, and clearly care about creating a safe and memorable experience for every camper. My child came home each day full of stories about the outdoor adventures, new friends, and exciting activities like archery, canoeing, and campfire songs. One of the things I appreciate most is how the camp helps kids grow in independence. Away from their usual routines and screens, campers learn to make decisions for themselves--whether it's choosing a new activity to try, solving small challenges, or managing their time during the day. That sense of ownership builds confidence and resilience. Camp Seymour also does a great job of encouraging goal setting. Each camper is guided to set personal goals--big or small--and work toward achieving them. It might be something like trying the climbing wall for the first time or learning how to paddle a canoe. These goals help kids feel accomplished and proud of what they can do, especially when they step out of their comfort zones and succeed. The camp's values of community, respect, and personal growth really shine through in everything they do. It's a place where kids can be themselves, try new things, and build skills that stick with them long after camp is over. We're already looking forward to next summer!

She was excited when we signed up, but a little apprehensive when I dropped her off. I was nervous that she was a bit too young, but this was definitely not the case. She came home wanting to go right back, already talking about next summer, and how she wants to work with her when she is older. The staff are wonderful, they have great food, including a vegetarian option for her (so important), and it's a beautiful place. Definitely recommend!

Curriculum: the organized activities don't seem to be age-appropriate or really have any true STEM…read morecomponent to it. Lot of "play" time in which they were restricted to a few areas outside- basketball court and some grassy areas -without any balls/equipment. They went indoors once the weather was too hot but apparently it was kind of dark and everything was covered in plastic for some reason. My kid did love the water play they had one day and that was the highlight. Operations: kids are required to be escorted to the bathroom in groups and when they ask to go outside of those designated times, there was a bit of pushback- either in the form of requiring to find additional students to go to the bathroom with or simply saying no, and they'd have to wait. Upon inquiry, we were told because of an incident where kids were misbehaving in the bathroom in a previous week, they instituted this rule. In a camp with hundreds of kids and only so many teachers this seems ridiculous. Teachers: teachers were sometimes on their phones and there was lots yelling at the kids (sometimes one kid would misbehave and the entire group would get yelled at). I understand it's hard to wrangle kids' attention but my kid said it was uncomfortable and she felt she was getting in trouble for things she didn't do. Some of the teachers you could tell didn't want to be there. Someone mentioned they were mostly first time instructors/staff. My child liked most summer camps this year but really disliked this one. I did speak with the director and to be fair she was very nice and willing to listen but nothing was quite what was advertised from the website or what the director said. And it's not cheap!! Would not recommend unless things drastically change.

5th grade camp was a hit! From the moment of bus drop offs to bus pick ups, Cedar Springs had every…read moreminute accounted for and planned out. Their system of organization and scheduling of daily events was impressive. Staff was incredibly gracious, especially while containing a hundred 10 year old boys and girls. Daily routine began with reveille at 0700 hours and ended at 10p with lights out. Survival classes were informative and included sessions like fire building, archery, stream studies, rock climbing, and forestry to name a few. Breakfast, lunch, and dinners were definitely elevated from a 'camp' menu with dishes like pork tenderloin, brisket, hot breakfasts, 24/7 coffee and tea for chaperones, side salads and dessert with every meal. I. Was. Im. PRESSED. They flip schools midweek, so if you're there from Wed-Fri, the previous school will be wrapping up lunch as you arrive and they depart. Schools never crossed paths and the transition was seamless. The cabins were 4 groups of 3 bunks with extra cots if needed. Working heaters and windows on every wall to air out during the day (highly recommended). It def got humid at night in the fall. Bathroom rotations were 10 mins per cabin which sounded like an impossible amount of time but worked out well. There were 11 showers in the main restroom with one being ADA accessible. 3 separate showers in the shared chaperone and employee restroom (which only had one working toilet). I preferred the main restroom but used it after lights out for my showers. No problems running out of stalls or showers. The bunks were rough for chaperone bones... wish I had brought extra padding to ease the sleepless nights after long days of trail walking, back to back events from 7a-9p, and dealing with a ton of 5th graders for 3 days straight! The bottomless coffee and tea helped keep us all upright! Overall, impressive meals, even more impressive staff, and impeccable scheduling!

To be fair, the last time we rode with Misti was 5 years ago and things may have changed. I…read moregenuinely hope they have. The only reason I am posting is because I'm seeing her advertise a lot, and I think this is important information to have as a prospective riding student or parent of one.  When we rode with Misti, I was initially impressed. She was present, involved, knowledgeable/experienced, and had some incredible young helpers, some of whom she'd worked with for years. After the first lesson, I stopped seeing Misti at the barn aside from one-off's. She was not involved. She hired on various trainers. Notable: most only lasted for 6 months to a year.  Also notable, multiple horses were in unhealthy states: elderly (well beyond retirement due to age or injury), battling unaddressed health issues, missing a shoe, etc. I watched her tell a rider to "go ahead" and ride an elderly horse recovering from an injury after discovering he'd thrown a shoe. Multiple horses were also not young/green-rider appropriate, and yet used with young/green riders. This resulted in multiple falls and injuries.  Having grown up with horses, I knew this was not okay and left. Shortly after we left, I learned all of her teen and pre-teen helpers had left as well and gone to other barns. The hired trainers followed suit. It wasn't safe or healthy for rider or horse.  Yes, she is affordable and promises the moon in her adverts and social media posts, but there are far better facilities out there for riding lessons. Facilities that prioritize not only the safety of their rider, but that of the horse. Many offer more contact time, and one-on-one, higher quality instruction at a comparable price.  As a side note, I am posting this anonymously because I've noticed that she "goes on the attack" when people provide constructive feedback. I watched her lose it on a 12yo helper one time, and her responses to negative/constructive reviews on the various sites are biting (she's always right, never the customer). I left on good terms with her. I simply saw that this was not where we wanted to be and moved elsewhere.

What a great park! Excellent river side hang out and spot to go swimming. Today was no exception…read more Slightly more crowded on this visit than a year ago. But still a very enjoyable experience. No walk today just hanging out water side with my bestie. A short walk down to the all rock beach. Be sure to bring a thick towel, a chair, or a pillow. There is small rapids here that is fun to float down. Water shoes highly recommended! And please pack out your trash. There is a bathroom next to the parking lot along with plenty of picnic benches of waterside isn't your style. The beach area has shaded areas which are perfect to avoid the sunshine. The water is very cold as well. Be careful and mentally prepared for it! Discovery Pass needed. Enjoy your life! SYOY!

There will never be a place I love more than this place. On the planet. But I come from the angle…read moreof having grown up here. My grandmother still lives within walking distance so when I say my childhood is in this water, it's no joke. I can still walk up the rock in the middle of my favorite swimming hole (at 43) like an easy set of steps and cannonball people with great enthusiasm. This park is a standalone experience. The Green River is ideal for fishing, kayaking, floating, swimming, and generally anything you'd like to do with a river except drinking. Don't do that, they pull a lot of bodies out of every year. I'd hazard a guess nearly all of those bodies made bad life choices with no respect for moving water. There is an excess of swimming holes along the stretch of river the park encompasses. This might lead you to think the fishing is also great. It is, but if it's swimming season, stick to early and late fishing because people will not respect your ill-timed line in the middle of the day. (This feud is as old as time). The camping in the park is limited although the implementation of yurts is adorable and fun, and they do accommodate RVs and tents as well. It's a great place to have an event, the availability of bathrooms and faucets has always been the standard I judge other parks by. Parking is limited, get there early or access it by taking the Long Walk. The rangers these days are young and friendly, and they deserve respect for the idiots they often have to put up with. I suggest getting the year pass for entry, you'll want to return. The park is exceptionally clean and well maintained, it hasn't changed much in the 40+ years I've known it because it's a solid setup. This is a beloved area. If you want to get drunk and stupid go upstream to the bridge or up the headworks road or downstream to Flaming Geyser area or Auburn. It's not a rowdy place, it's families doing family things. Whatever your swimming skill, there are beautiful places to put your body in the water either carefully and gently, with momentum aboard flotation apparatus, or from tall places. Respect the class IV rapids, they're easy to avoid. You can chase the sun around to all the different spots if you're apt to sunbathe, or avoid it entirely. The simple trail from one end to the other is a faerieland walk under beautiful canopy all year round. The water is pristine, the critters are adorable, and it attracts a nice style of people from many different places. Please respect it and enjoy, we're proud of this little jewel.
