3-3-3
Alexander L.

Great staff. Amazing breakfast selections to choose from. 3-3-3 special with the infamous blueberry pancake stack. Wonderful background music and lighting too! Thank you so much.

Food was good, as expected and higher quality than a traditional diner. Fresh cut fries, fresh ingredients overall, quality bread/rolls. Service was quick and helpful. Small, but no wait...more seating than you might expect from the outside. Ample parking.

Cafe Freddo
Danielle P.

Went around 12 on a Sunday, there wasn't a wait though it was busy. There is a parking lot but it shared with the restaurant next door so not a lot of spots. The person I was with ordered a Cafe Freddo, there wasn't much of a description besides coffee but they were willing to try. They were not a fan of it, they usually drink regular coffee or fraps so it could just be the type. They ordered Double Chocolate Chip Pancakes and bacon. They expected the double to mean the batter had chocolate in it too, though there were just chocolate chips inside and chocolate syrup drizzled on top. Overall, they were fine, not the best but not the worst. The bacon was fine, a bit more cooked than we like, but good flavor. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which is one of my favorite breakfast item which came with home fries. With the Benedict there wasn't a lot hollandaise, which I do like a lot of. I asked for extra and was told there would be an additional 1$ charge. The issue here is the Eggs Benedict was already $17.95 which is about $3 more than the average Eggs Benedict in WNY. Overall, the hollandaise was good, just not a lot of it. The home fries were also good as they were crispy the way I like it. The feel of the diner is pretty neat, it's very retro inside and offers a different space to eat compared to typical restaurants. Overall, we would recommend Lake Effect Diner if you're into the diner experience as a one time visit. The food is fine, but not worth the higher prices. There are several other breakfast spots in WNY which are better priced and have better food. I talked with a few other peope after the visit and they all agreed in this sentiment.

Not for us. I was so excited to come here, but left really disappointed. Sitting inside of an authentic dining car is awesome, and the staff was friendly, however the food did not live up to Guy's interpretation of this diner. My utensils were dirty and our bagels were so stale and dried out that it was difficult to bite into them. The pancakes are really large, but are very dense and not fluffy at all. The prices were also high, $17 +/- each for entrees, which should deliver a quality breakfast! So sad it wasn't what we expected.

Freshly squeezed orange juice

We were seated immediately, although it was a holiday morning, and very busy everywhere. Our drinks came quickly: Two fresh orange juices that were tart enough to belie "from concentrate" status. The lox platter on a toasted bagel was amazing, but my husband's classic quiche was very cold in the middle. It took more than 15 minutes to get it back. I was nearly done with my breakfast by the time his arrived. Our waitress was energetic and kept checking on us; the bathrooms are very clean, and the people-watching is excellent: It's a downtown cross-section of people. If wheelchair access is needed, the ramp is in the rear of the restaurant, at the back of the parking lot.

We were seated immediately. Although the counter doesn't have coat hangers. Service was good, nothing to complain Food came out a bit slow but that was fine. There was a lot of food. The prices are a bit on the higher side in my opinion but the portion was huge My french toast had a few pieces of blueberries. I wish they added more. But the toast was good

Home fries

Service was great, waitress kept checking on our coffee etc. my French toast was delicious and so were the home fries. Coffee was good and they did have plant based milk!

We went here because it had been on Diners, DriveIn's, & Dive's. It is small but wasn't crowded when we went at 1:30pm on Thursday. Our waitress was happy & informative. They have different drinks I got a crème soda-yummy & my husband got a Mexican coke which was just a regular Coke made in Mexico. Anyway service was great food was excellent except for my friend's fish that was undercooked. She ate what she could & didn't want to return it. The smash burgers the guys got were fantastic. My husband got a bowl of chili that he said was spicy good!! My pulled pork with egg was great but I asked for the bbq sauce on the side & thank goodness I did because it was spicy I used mayo. All in all a good place to try.

Eggs Chesapeake - poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, seafood cakes - YES!!!

Delicious and friendly! Their seafood cakes are awesome and the sauce has a hot tangy bite that is the perfect complement. Their eggs Benedict was awesome - love the bread texture. If you are bougie get the Eggs Chesapeake - yum!!

Tempura Haddock fish fry
Joanne T.

The food here is fantastic. I had the Tempura Haddock fish fry. It was a nice tasty and light batter. I liked the Mac salad and coleslaw. Also had a cup of French onion soup. The whole meal was great. Hubby had straight hand cut fries with a broiled Cajun haddock. He was happy. He can't eat coleslaw or Mac salad due to allergies so they substituted roasted cauliflower. Service was good. It's not a big restaurant but it wasn't over crowded. They do let you rsvp.

My leftovers of my absolutely DELICIOUS meal! Canadian bacon, scrambled eggs and AMAZING French toast.

Everything could have been better. The wrap was filled with filler veggies and we had a drink that was horrendous.

(Also- the hours online and Yelp/Google Maps are different than what's posted on the door.) I decided to see if the door was open in case the sign just wasn't flipped to "open". It was UNLOCKED, and so was the second door! I was able to go INSIDE the cafe, even though it was clearly empty and no one was there...no food in the display case either. I even called out "hello??" a couple times to no response. Why were both doors unlocked if the cafe was clearly closed (even though according to the hours on the door it should be open...)

The first thing I appreciated was, the Owners and staff members. They are genuinely, a very happy group of people. They are super friendly and engaging. I also like the fact you can dine in or even do takeout. Today I decided on takeout.. the serving sizes are very decent, and the prices are more than fair. I strongly recommend checking them out. Breakfast sandwich- choice of bacon or sausage. Really nice satisfying sandwich. I really like the type of roll that was used. Plus the sandwich wasn't greasy or sloppy at all. Breakfast bowl- For me, I was able to share with my wife. The to-go container was pack. Every bite full had meat, cheese potatoes, and eggs. The ingredient ratio was spot on. You didn't have to much of this and not enough of that. Chicken and waffle- breast was moist and seasoned well for my liking. I loved the waffle flavor. Whatever waffle mix they are using. They need to keep using it and never change up.

I honestly can't remember the last time I was able to order breakfast at a restaurant. While visiting Buffalo with my boyfriend in November 2025, his college friend spent the morning taking us to several restaurants trying to find a place where I could safely eat. After striking out everywhere else, Betty's was our last stop--and what a blessing it was! Alice, our host, was warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure my food allergies were handled safely. I was able to order a bacon, "egg" and avocado sandwich made to accommodate my allergies, and it was incredible. I hadn't enjoyed a breakfast sandwich from a restaurant in over a decade! It was so delicious that I went back again before leaving Buffalo and even ordered another sandwich to take home. For anyone living with food allergies, you know how rare it is to find a restaurant that truly understands safe food preparation while still serving amazing food. I'm from New York City, and I still haven't found a place that compares. 1,000 stars! I can't recommend Betty's highly enough.

We were rewarded with two truly special brunch items ... a layered "French toast" that I stared at as a diner near me ate hers and an orange infused pair of delicious waffles. They were perfect and filling (This ended up as our only meal on this beautiful Sunday.). The quality of service matched the food ... we lingered soaking in the atmosphere just enjoying life at Betty's. When asked by neighbors where we went for brunch we said "Betty's" and they smiled knowingly. Once you're familiar with Betty's you've found a friend.

This appears it was because there is no hostess and the servers are doing it all themselves, so they continued to take orders and bring out items for those already seated before showing us to a table. Once at the table the initial ordering and bringing of the food was fine. We then proceeded to wait an excessive amount of time as our waitress went from table to table checking on everyone else but never even looked our way so we could flag her down to let her know we were ready for the check.
