A WONDERFUL pediatrician's office…read more Once you're an established patient, it's very easy to get a hold of the staff. They always pick up the phone, and they are also quick to respond on the patient portal, Appointments are usually not difficult to come by (even if you might need one the same day). The entire team of nurses and staff are all personable and highly professional. They have several physicians, so it's best to read the doctors' bios and request the one who resonates best with you/your kiddo(s). We personally LOVE Dr. Hathaway. She is so sweet, friendly, and has a great rapport with our little one. She is straightforward but also empathic & relatable. She is attentive & always listens to us and explains things thoroughly. Pro-vaccine, but conservative & never pushy with medication. We never feel rushed, and we don't wait long to see her either. There is plenty of parking, the lobby is spacious, and the facility is very clean & well-maintained. We have absolutely no complaints and have always felt so well taken care of here. This office sets the bar high for amazing & reliable medical service.

She takes the time to clearly explain diagnoses and treatment options to parents. Dr. Hathaway genuinely cares about her patients as individuals. If you are looking for a pediatrician in The Woodlands who combines exceptional medical skills with true compassion, Dr. Hathaway at Hometown Pediatrics is an excellent choice. We feel fortunate to have found such an outstanding physician for our children.

I took my grandson in for what I thought would be a routine visit. The first thing I noticed about…read morethe Dr (PA?) was she was very young. She took the child's temperature & looked in his ears. As we were talking I mentioned that when I picked him up from his mother, he was unsteady on his feet (he's a toddler) and BOOM that simple phrases changed everything. Even though there was no bruising or other signs of a bone fracture or trauma or abuse she demanded that I immediately take him to the emergency wing for a skeletal XRay to check for fractures. I refused and left. She then notified CPS and a case worker appeared at my home. The case worker examined the child, determined no signs of fractures, bruising, abuse & the living conditions & food availability were not an issue. We thought that would be the end of things, but we were wrong The bluefish doctor had told CPS that a complete skeletal x-ray needed to be done to close the case. The problem is bluefish, never issued any orders for the x-rays Today when we called in to get the orders we are told that the Doctor is not on duty today and we will have to wait for another doctor to finish their rounds to take care of this. In the meantime, CPS is pressuring us as to why we haven't taken the child to get x-rays This is preposterous. We took a child in for a routine examiner examination because he was running a slight fever and vomiting. Apparent saying that the child appeared a little unsteady triggered some kind of institutionalized CPS response in the medical community. This is outrageous. CPS should never have been involved. As I write this, I am still waiting for bluefish to get back to me with orders for an x-ray or to call CPS and tell them that the x-rays are not necessary If you choose to take your child to this group, be careful what you say, it may trigger a call to CPS merely by conveying a valid concern.

I scheduled my daughter's annual wellness check with Dr. Purcell. She was very kind and friendly…read more Before the appointment, I confirmed multiple times with my insurance company that the annual wellness visit would be covered 100% with no copay. However, after the visit, I received a bill for a copay. When I contacted the billing department, they told me that if any concerns are brought up during the annual checkup and the doctor documents notes about them, the visit is then considered a regular office visit, which requires a copay. I carefully recalled what happened that day. I simply answered the questions asked by the medical staff and had the doctor perform the routine annual exam. We had some casual conversation during the visit, but I did not request any additional evaluation beyond the standard checkup. I was surprised to be told that this automatically resulted in a copay. We have visited many other pediatricians for annual checkups in the past and have never encountered this situation. The billing department repeatedly insisted that this is their policy and that their practice is different from other pediatric offices. They said the office manager would call me back to explain further, but I have not received any call or follow-up. It does not seem like they are interested in resolving this issue. I hope this clinic takes this matter seriously. Families should be aware that even if their insurance covers annual wellness visits at 100%, if the staff determines that "any concern" was brought up, they may reclassify the visit as a regular office visit and require a copay.

When we started here the facility was small and was ran great! There should have been a capping point. Any place that becomes overwhelmed will definitely struggle. That's common sense. Dr. Powellson was in NO way friendly, welcoming, comforting, or helpful. He was, instead;rude, argumentative, interrupting, judgemental, cold, and dismissive. He was entirely focused on my mental health diagnosis-which was NOT why I was there-and treated my physical health, as well as some important concerns I tried to communicate, as an afterthought. The room was cold, sterile, uncomfortable, and so is Dr. Powellson. I was immediately put off and defensive with his demeanor, and his lack of focus on my physical health rather than my mental- he seemed to form an opinion when I told him my diagnosis- was confusing and frustrating. I jave a lump in my abdomen and another in my pelvis that he NEVER EXAMINED, or asked about them after I mentioned it. I felt judged, as though Dr Powellson has a bias about people with BPD. The building and the lobby made me want to turn around as soon as I got there, and Dr. Powellson made me so uncomfortable; feeling judged and argued with, and frustrated, that I walked out of the appointment within 5 minutes of meeting and talking to him. At NO time did I feel like Dr Powellson cared about my physical concerns, or even HEARD them. This was just supposed to be a general physical and check-up, and Dr. Powellson made it the most uncomfortable, unpleasant, and awful appointments I have ever had.
