Bill: Pre-Snack Meal (poppadoms - and tray) Quite a different selection of "Pops" - £5.89 - Realy enjoyed. 3 x Kozhi Kurumulagu - £15.89 each - £47.67 Boneless chicken, cooked in a black pepper based sauce with onion, ginger, garlic and turmeric. Everyone enjoyed. 1 x Seafood Biriyani - £19.95 Rice, prawns (only 3), king fish (2 small pieces), Mussels (none) and Squid (none). Really tasty sauce with a bit of spicy kick. This had been recommended to me by a work colleague. I didn't mention the missing items at the time as I was with my grandchildren. In hindsight, I should have done. 1 x bottle Viognier - £31.75 - Good wine and well chilled, with a proper ice bucket. Bill Total - £113.51 All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Nice ambiance. There evening service starts at 18:00, but we arrived just before that time and they were open and other customers were already eating. I would return, but I'd mention the missing items about the seafood biriyani. Apart from that I'd order it again as I loved the flavours.

I'm not a fan of chili and Indian restaurants are often my worst nightmare but this place is a real exception because the chef can tailor to your taste buds. We also tried the new lunch buffet last week and I was quite impressed - they had a decent variety including my favourite veggie dishes (panir tikka masala an saag aloo). This is a traditional Indian restaurant and they have authentic and delicious Indian food. The staff are always really nice - looking forward to going again!

Wish I could cook spinach like that! I always like to try the chili paneer if I see it on the menu, this one was according to my liking - the spices and sauce and firmness of the paneer, mmm! It's a nice option for dinner as well as lunch. The staff were nice people and very accommodating with my allergy requests and took precaution with cooking methods. The ambiance is low key, but nice. My wife decided to go for a Blue Hawaiian drink, for some reason she seemed to think that would compliment a veggie south Indian lentil dish, as you do....I'm all for fusion and experimenting, it just looked too funny with all the traditional food and a tall blue glass umbrella drink next to a pot of brown dal. The brother in law said it looked like drinking half a bottle of toilet bowl cleaner.

A tiny take-away that does big food!…read more This little take-away is barely there, but it has a huge customer base. You can find customers often queuing on the pavement to be served. They serve traditional and wholsome bengali/indian food. You can buy a meal for two for about £5. The servings are very generous and will definitely fill you up. The staff are friendly too and often add a complimentary extra to the order.
This place is excellent if you want a hot box of delicious curry and you're in a hurry. Friendly…read moreservice from people who know their Indian cuisine combined with reasonable prices and a selection of wonderful flavours is hard to beat! If you're new to this they're usually pretty helpful in guiding you to the right solution, and they're also quick. The way it works is fairly simple; you ask for what you want in your box (up to two types of curry, two types of filler and chutney). For example, you might want chicken tandoori and lamb rogan josh with rice and naan bread and the sweet chutney. They put it into a box, stratifying the contents (so it goes rice then lamb then naan then chicken then chutney, usually) and you go home and eat it. You can get any one of three sizes for £4 to £6, and there are other combos and options too. As a bonus, if you live out near Evington they've just opened a branch that opens late!

It was a Wednesday…read moreevening when we went and I'd say half the restaurant was full, which is a good sign given that it is located on a prime spot in the city centre alongside plenty of other restaurants. The food was a tad bland but presentation and the general taste were good. We also ordered a mango lassi which was nice. The thali was ok.. I would recommend trying that if you are unsure of which curries to order but if you can make a decision I'd just go with the separate ones as we only really enjoyed about half of the curries given to us in our thali. The spinach dosa was a slightly different taste to your usual masala dosa worth trying at least once. The only thing about this place is the staff don't recommend any dishes even when you ask their opinion several times! "Everything is nice" which kinda doesn't help narrow it down but fair okay to them!

We checked it out online first and saw that the set menu (described as a feast) looked pretty varied and great value. Unfortunately, we arrived and found the price was about £5 more (to be fair, they honoured the web price), but ordered anyway. There was nothing wrong with the food itself, although it wasn't anything better than any other curry place in Leicester, but it just took sooo long to arrive. I think we were waiting 1 3/4 hours for our mains and when we did get them it wasn't particularly 'feast like'. The feast is replenished as an when required, according to the menu, but the waiters looked pretty shocked when we asked for more. What of, they asked. Everything! was our reply. The waiting staff were pretty friendly, though, and the food itself was alright, so maybe 2 stars is harsh. But when you consider that the list price is around £22 just for the food in a city that has some of the best curry in the country, they'll have to try a lot harder to survive.
