Laguna Beach is probably the closest beach for a casual afternoon leisure time. I picked an area that's off the beaten path today. Less people, just the sound of crashing waves and me. As I walked on the beach taking in all those houses along the way, I found myself reasonably happy to be a short driving distance away so I can enjoy the beach when I feel like it, but not having to deal with prices and taxes of beach front properties and traffic of the canyon. read more

What a nice little getaway from LA. This place is so clean and feels like a really nice community. Plenty of shops, restaurants, coffee spots and beautiful Ocean views. The traffic here can be intense and prices for hotels are pretty high. It can get really packed on the weekends but can be a nice day trip. Beaches are clean too! Very nice beach with usually very clear water. We love coming here especially to take a walk down Forest Avenue and PCH. They all meet up near the lifeguard station. This beach has quite the charm and a good variety of shops and restaurants. We usually eat at 230 Forest Avenue restaurant or at Alessa. Both are great, but they have lots of other nice places, and almost all of the restaurants have outdoor seating. The area is very beautiful as well and well decorated. The beach is gorgeous, however we like shopping there :) this review is more about the downtown area in Laguna Beach than the beach itself. I mean, what can you say about all these breathtaking beaches along our coast! They also have some art galleries, ice cream shops, really nice clothing shops like Attu and 2bella, and just a lot of fun walking around.. Also don't forget about the Festival of the Arts which is epic, and i believe runs through summer in the beginning of July. Love coming here. I am going to make a suggestion as well. If you want to avoid the toll roads, and we all know we have ended up on one by mistake, please take highway 133 off of the 5. This is toll free. The main highway 73 I believe is a toll road, and you have to pay electronically. Just wanted to pass that info on. Come to Laguna Beach and enjoy the shopping, eating, and great weather. read more

One of the most beautiful beaches out there. I've never checked this beach out until only last year, and so glad we went... twice! Loved watching the sunset and the colors in the sky were just so magical. The seagulls were adorable, and also savage at the same time, ready for their next meal. It's very nice for a peaceful picnic, to bring your family to, and to just chill while listening to the waters gently crash at your feet. We arrived on a weekday so luckily it was not very busy, and we easily found a parking spot next to the Urth cafe. We did catch some tourists visiting from around the world just to capture the view. I'm ready to go back and visit again! read more

There's the main beach with restrooms and volleyball nets, but then there are a few smaller beaches all along PCH, like Moss Point, and Victoria Beach. So many great restaurants and shops too. This is the most beautiful beach, my family and I came with our friend's because in a couple weeks they are moving really far away so we wanted our girls to be able to spend as much time together as possible before they move. They wanted to do Laguna, we wanted to go to Montage like usual but we decided to try a new area. It was pretty busy but I was able to get photos without people in the photos which was nice. It was the perfect beach day. The kids and all of us had so much fun playing in the water and sand. It was a little gloomy out but the beautiful sunshine peaked out a little and there was a gentle breeze flowing through. The water felt cool yet warm on the skin. The ocean air helped take the undying anxiety I feel everyday from my health and life. Being by the ocean helps to forget all the troubles, to get lost in the sea just listening the sound of the waves is the best thing in the world to reset your soul and heal. The lifeguards were so on it, the tide was getting higher, so they were making sure all the kids and adults were safe. Plenty of paid parking and handicap as well. Perfect beach to spend the day with family and friends. The seagulls are ruthless though, they are not scared of people at all haha, when you're not looking they will snatch your food, I saw one of them do that to this family in front of us haha I tried to stop them but they took it and flew away lol. Thank you for keeping this beach always so magically beautiful for us all and clean. This is my favorite beach to visit in Orange County. Out of all of the beaches in Southern California, Laguna is by far my favorite. The water is pristine, and as a dedicated marine preserve, there is a ton of wildlife in the water just waiting for those who love swimming and snorkeling. Laguna is, and has always been... my therapy. I come back here, every 5-8 years... and I just spend as much time as I can here. I hike the trails and bag up any trash (STOP THROWING STIIZY BOTTLES AND VARIOUS TRASH OUT THERE EVERYONE!) I see along the pathways, and I just enjoy the weather. Usually near Alta Laguna Park, the trails are pretty easy to get to (park OUTSIDE of the Park if you're just hiking -- parking is limited!) from the little end of the road near Alta Laguna, and you can then hit SO many trails from that spot. It's just... where my soul feels at ease. If I were to ever be given the opportunity to live in or even just... near enough, and work in or NEAR, Laguna... I could stop paying for therapy. Truly. I don't think there's quite as beautiful a place in all of Orange County, as what you see in Laguna. Anyway... if you read this far... and you're unsure if you're going to enjoy Laguna... don't hesitate. It's beautiful. The nightlife isn't far away in L.A. either, so... it's like the most chill place ever. I wish that... I could have grown up as a kid here. It's a special place that... I don't think sometimes even the locals know what it is that they really have. I heard a lot of sad stories and people upset about things... and I thought... how could you be upset or angry here? Hundreds of harmless creepy sand sharks in the shallow waters on the Main Beach . (Average size is 2 feet long) Unusually warm in February, I decided to take a swim at the huge beach across from the central town . Was in about 2 feet of water and looked into the approaching wave to see hundreds of mini sharks in the waves. Never again , tho they're not dangerous, they will brush up against you , if you're in their space . Just thought I'd give you a heads up if this creeps you out too .They congregate in the shallows for protection from large sharks & predators. read more

Laguna Beaches are so beautiful and filled with locals and tourists. I'm lucky enough to live not far away from here . So I came often. Amazing place with gorgeous views.Incredible sunsets and , Wonderful sunrises.Sometimes I came here It was a gloomy day but we were able to still enjoy the beach. We saw a lot of wild and marine life. The tide was pretty dangerous so no one was too far off the sand to be honest. But there were some interesting rocks that had mussels and I think sea urchins. It was fun to explore. I would definitely recommend coming when the weather is a bit more pleasant though. The water was just as cold . But still beautiful. The downtown is filled with interesting shops, restaurants, and filled with beautiful art work. Loved every minute and the views of the mountains is amazing . I miss going to this beach. I Aliso born and raised. Sent so much time at this beach since I can remember. Great bars, restaurants, and entertainment such as free art museums and hiking trail all around. Summer is the busiest with tourist from across the globe! Summer is to take an uber or the tram which are FREE all summer! Check the months but they are free trust me, plus there rarely any parking in the summer unless your an early bird or a spot hunter. Despite the heavy seaweed/kelp, this is one of my favorite southern Californian beaches. The sand can be scorching midday, recommend beach umbrella and walk with sandals. Busy on weekends of course but manageable and enough room to find good seating. Don't bring huge tents, and always pick up all trash before leaving. The waters are pretty clear and clean. You'll definitely see aquatic life such as sandbar sharks (swam right next to me, yet harmless) crabs, starfish, etc... don't feed the birds. The waves can get intense but fun to ride once you're 19-20 feet from shore. You can stand in between tides. The views are spectacular. Take a gander along the beach. There's restrooms available at entrance and sand showers at multiple exit/entrance areas. Wear sunscreen and have safe fun! read more

Hands down, the most picturesque and beautiful beach in all of SoCal. Laguna is absolutely breathtaking. It's a must if you're visiting from out of town. Parking is tricky on the weekends, but don't be discouraged. You will eventually find parking. We suggest downloading the parking app and paying on there to save some time. We usually park up at Heisler Park or at Downtown Laguna. Some of the best times to visit here is off season or weekdays. We love coming here late fall or early spring. The beaches here are almost empty and the sunsets are stunning. The boardwalk is a lot of fun and downtown is filled with cute shops and yummy eateries. Laguna is the perfect little weekend getaway! The good: What a beautiful beach! It reminds me of Malibu. The sand is very fine and soft. It's the perfect beach if you want to build a sandcastle. There isn't a lot of debris or ocean matter washed ashore (rocks, kelp, seaweed, etc.). It's flat and accessible though there are other parts of the beaches where the access is from a higher cliff but the main beach is flat and in line with the downtown area. It's very walkable. It's dog friendly. It's my favorite beach in SoCal now. My daughter enjoyed the small beach playground here that had a few slides, a dolphin statue and some climbable areas. The plants here are probably my favorite part about this area. There are colorful orange and pink plants as well as a lot of local green succulents. The bad: I'm a California native and yesterday was finally my first time here. How? The interesting: It's hard for me to think of this place without thinking of the 2000s MTV show Laguna Beach and hearing Hilary Duff's "Come Clean" song in my head. It feels surreal to be here because I get nostalgic about the show. The horizon seems lower here (more sky and prettier sunset) than Redondo beach area. read more

Definitely a must add to your list if you're visiting from out of the area and/or are a local. So many different beaches to check out (not just main) and very walkable with many shops, eateries, places in general to stroll and check out. Parking is a hit or miss but know that once you're parked it's pretty walkable. The view getting into and out of the city is so memorable and special. read more

Gotta love Laguna Beach. Me and my girl spent half the day here since 10 am. We played volleyball with some strangers, and I also played a little basketball with the fellas here. They have nice basketball courts and all. Nice spots to workout at too. Its also a artsy city of art. We did lots of window shopping and checking out art displays too. 4/9/23 After lunch at Number 3, we walked over Bird Rock & enjoy med the views. Ahhhhh! Busy day at a lovely Spring day at the beach in Laguna. Trailed down the steps & explored a few sandy walkways & got acquainted with sone tide pools too. It feels like summer as we felt overly dressed passing by beach goers wearing bikinis & shorts, basking under the sun. Children were soaking it up & getting wet on the shore. Screams of laughter were heard as they were running away from the waves that it about to nip at their toes. It was fun to watch & to just gaze at blue skies & the palm trees sway against the wind. I was at Aliso Beach for an Ascend Orange County (OC) Beach Clean-Up Volunteer and sOCial Fun Meet-Up event recently. It was in collaboration between Surfrider Foundation and Ascend OC. Someone at the event told me that Aliso Beach is actually a small beach within the Laguna Beach vicinity. I didn't know Laguna Beach comprises of smaller beaches that has its own name. Cool! I enjoyed my drive on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) 1 and the beautiful views of Laguna Beach. Did you know there are about 26 beaches within the City of Laguna Beach? Wow, that's amazing! I barely hit the surface with Aliso Beach and Laguna Beach. Actually, I may have hit some of the other beaches and not know that I did because they are all connected one beach after another LOL. Thought I share here... I don't go to the beach to lay on the beach because I don't care for the bathing suit thing and sunbathing LOL. But I do like the ambiance of the beach... sitting on my chair in peace, watching the seagulls, listening to the waves, feeling the wind, smelling the fresh ocean air (hopefully fresh LOL), enjoying a nice cold drink and eating some great foods, walking barefoot on the sand and holding hands with the one I love (alright, the latter is a future outlook LOL), and so much more. Anyway, any chance you get, go get yourself some sun and fun at the beach either by yourself or with your significant other or family and friends... near or far, just go! Happy Beaching! read more

La Rue Du Chocolat: Our first stop was this chocolate store tucked in between this little alleyway. No photos allowed inside but a very adorable and sweet shop for treats. There are eccentric figures, trinkets, and decor that makes this place one of a kind. The chocolate prices have a range but the ones we got were around $3 each. The chocolate band-aid though was around $8. They were all very rich in flavor and memorable~ Art Galleries: Our next stop were several art galleries but one contained artworks that really caught our eye. We unfortugyattly can't remember the name of the gallery as there were many. However the one that stuck with us had really fun, unique, and silly pieces such as one piece that reminded us of the Winx Club characters (Bloom, Stella, and Flora), a 2000s emo reminiscent work, and yassified cunty fruits. Ryan's Art for the Soul: To our surprise and delight we ran into this cool store that contained artistic antiques. There were so many trinkets and knick knacks to fawn over that we couldn't help but be immersed in. Urth Cafe: We were searching for a nearby and affordable place to dine in. After several searches, we were fortunate to find "Urth Cafe" which we recognized and were somewhat already planning to go to. Once arrived we order pizzas and matcha lattes to fulfill our hunger. The prices were decent for what we got and we left satisfied. Laguna Beach Itself: The cherry on top to our day was strolling along the beach as the sun was setting. The weather was purrfect and the mood was so peaceful. It was pretty clean too, which we appreciated. Laguna Beach and its shopping and entertainment areas can be a little pricey but it's beary much worth your day! read more

I live in Fullerton and love to get out to the beach any chance I get. My husband and I spent Memorial weekend in Laguna, and the fresh air felt beautiful. Unfortunately, we are having a very slow start to summer, so there was no sunshine, but it was still a wonderful time. It got quite busy despite it not being sunny and warm. I suggest arriving early as parking can get sparse. There are plenty of benches to relax after walking miles along the beach. Can't wait till my next beach day. read more
