We were in the middle of planning a home renovation. We labored over which type of flooring to…read moreinstall in our kitchen and great room. The two rooms adjoin at two different doorways, so the flooring had to flow into both rooms. After weighing the pros and cons of many types of flooring, we decided to go with hardwood. After shopping hardwood at all the big box stores, we were more confused than when we started. A couple years ago, my wife had read an article on Speed Hardwood Floors. She suggested we visit them to see what they had to offer. On our first visit, the office manager Chelsea walked us through different types of wood, stains, plank widths and finishes. Then she gave us the bad news. Since every floor they sell is a custom floor, it normally takes approximately four weeks from ordering to finished product. Additionally, the flooring has to be delivered into your home at least three days prior to install on so the flooring can acclimate to your home's temperature and humidity. So from order to installation, you're normally looking at approximately five weeks. Since our kitchen cabinets were already scheduled to be installed in three weeks we had a major problem. We explained our timing problem to Chelsea, and she told us she would make a couple calls to the mill and finisher to see if they could rush our order. Chelsea made it happen and had our floor milled and finished in two weeks. Also the owner, Reggie, lined up an installer on short notice. Reggie also personally delivered the floor to our house with the help of two young men that carried each bundle approximately 100 feet and up a few steps into my house. It's been about a month since we ordered the floor and we are now living on our new floors. They are beautiful! Both Chelsea and Reggie have been extremely accommodating and delivered everything as promised and more!

One day for drop-off of materials and the other day for installation. While the finished product is solid and I'm pleased, this experience lacked the polish of our first two installs. The "bummers" included the team arriving fairly late, almost 1-2 hrs than planned. Installation didn't finish in the one day we were scheduled. It took them 3 days and they weren't consecutive, so it took more like 3 weeks. The team didn't install pads on furniture, like the other installs, and it resulted in deeply scratched boards that had to be pulled up and replaced again. Thankfully we had extra material. The good that was appreciated included well cut corners for the kick board, took accountability for the scratches and fixed without a fight, and agreed to install a very small piece of footboard we didn't originally have in place. Note: pay by check to avoid any credit card fees. My husband paid the deposit with a credit card, which I asked him not to do, so they credited the card and let me pay the full amount by check. If you're considering flooring I do recommend you call them. We have gotten quotes easily and quickly, which is the first step in project planning. Knowing what to budget is half the battle.

Their employees were exactly on time, professional & courteous. There were 2 large rooms, a long hallway and 2 standard size rooms. They gave me a very reasonable quote and got my approval before beginning work. They were done in about an hour & fully cleaned up behind themselves.
