When you first walk in, it has the atmosphere of a bus terminal. The lighting, the size, the decor...all of it remind you of catching the 7:30 bus to Wichita. It's a counter service only restaurant, which is OK, they're everywhere these days. We ordered Orange Chicken, Pepper Steak and two egg rolls. Both meals had "fried rice." We attempted to order iced tea, but they only serve bottled and canned drinks from the cooler. That was my second clue this might have been a bad decision. She asked if we wanted our food for here or to go. We told here we were eating here and sat down. After a few short minutes (good), she brought us two Styrofoam clamshell containers and two tiny plastic forks (bad) with our food. The Pepper Steak was a goopy mess with a rubbery meat product. Literally the only thing I ate was the onions and green peppers. I guess the goop was MSG or some other hideous binding product for the sauce, which was as bland as dishwater....and also the same color. The Orange Chicken was only marginally better. Some of the pieces had hard centers like they'd been reheated for a couple of weeks, while others were a bit more fresh. The egg rolls were passable. They were crispy and had the taste and appearance of egg rolls at a much better place. The sauces they offered on the table were all from plastic to-go packets you had to tear open. It was all no-name brand stuff that tasted like plastic. The Soy Sauce was the weirdest I've ever seen or tasted. It came out the same color as Soy Sauce, but after a few minutes turned this weird color resembling ink from a pen. On the plus side, the plastic taste also disappeared after a few minutes, but so did the Soy Sauce taste. There were no other condiments available to spice up the bland food. The "fried rice" was literally brown rice from a box. There was enough in each styrofoam container to feed a family of four. Having not tasted their entire menu, I suppose I could be making a snap decision, but I doubt it. I find it almost unbelievable they have 4.2 stars on Yelp at this point. Something is very fishy with that.
