Firstly, I consider myself a donut expert. I have had donuts from many places in the United States. Lago Donuts products are delicious, service is great and prices are fair. I have been a customer for many years and they consistently produce excellent donuts & kolaches. There is nothing gimmicky about this shop. No Lattes, designer pastries or frilly products. First time she messed up I can understand, second was when I called... THIRD time there was no excuse when she also didn't give me a receipt so I had to see in my bank what was charged when Edgar HAD THE AUDACITY to ask me what the amount is on the phone call when I ordered ONE dozen HAM and cheese and a small apple juice. I simply ordered ONE dozen of HAM and cheese and she gave me sausage. Again. I absolutely hate sausage. I also work out in cedar Park and this being WHAT I GRABBED FOR MY OFFICE FRANSSS they didn't care and ate it regardless. Edgar really expected me to DRIVE back to Lago Vista from my job at 9 in the morning because SHE messed up....again. Absolutely out of the question. I will take my business elsewhere where they can get the orders correct and actually HOT like why even ask me to heat it up if you're just gonna give them to me cold?? Edgar and the other guy have never given me issues and have always gotten my order wrong but apparently whomever this crazy curly haired lady is doesn't know what she's doing in the drive thru. Do you like to support family-owned businesses in your small town? I can't think of a better place than this one. The donuts are perfect. The customer service is superb. It's wonderful to watch an entire family working together to serve their community. To previous reviewers: If all you have to complain about is styrofoam cups and Spanish speaking ownership, then you really don't have anything to complain about do you? We went so my sister who was visiting could get a donut... not much of a donut person I was pleasantly surprised they had kolaches too! The only thing was I noticed the only difference between small and large was the size of the sausage. Might as well get a large for better proportions. read more

The doughnuts and kolaches are quite tasty, however, the owners do not wear masks nor do they enforce masks. My brief experience here wasn't the greatest. I went here on a Saturday around 6:30am. (which might have been my first problem) And I was greeted by a woman who wouldn't even make eye contact with me when I said good morning. After she said good morning back to me she started mumbling things in Spanish to herself (who knows she could've been talking crap in another language or maybe not. I don't know because I only speak English) And to top my experience off, I ordered five breakfast tacos and they were all cold by the time I got home. I give it 3 stars for effort; Lago needs business and diversity, but this place could improve. Businessy-friendly-enough hispanic customer service. Gross styrofoam coffee cups (cant believe people still use these things). Donuts look disgusting (question if they are handmade or pre-bought frozen dough). If you speak spanish, im sure the customer service is better. They should catch up with the times and ditch styrofoam for eco resin recycled paper cups. They should go on vacation to bakeries around country and diversify their product line with elegant pastries. Everything here is so yummy and fresh. They have my favorite strawberry and vanilla glazed donuts, and large kolaches in Travis county.

Just have to share a disturbing encounter from this morning that I believe our community deserves to be aware of to make informed decisions. My husband and I went to Lago Donut to grab some donuts before heading with the kids to the lake. I waited in the car while my husband went into the store. Mind you they have a sign on the door requiring face masks. When he walked in masked, the girl behind the counter who was wearing a mask around her chin, quickly pulled it up when she saw him. He selected and paid for our donuts and then looked up and into the kitchen. He saw 2 kitchen staff handling food that were not wearing masks at all. My husband came out to the car to tell me what he saw. I told him to take it back in, I was not going to bring those donuts home to our family. So he went back in, expressed his discomfort with the situation and was told since he walked out the door he could not have his money back. I would like support our local businesses but this is simply irresponsible!! We will never go back. read more

I would never have gone here based on the current reviews. I'm glad we came across the store by accident! The donuts were very good. We all loved every one we tried, including the old fashioned plain, old fashioned with chocolate, chocolate glazed, the bear claw (sooooo fresh and sooooo good), and the cinnamon roll. I really liked the coffee I got after putting in only two sweeteners and a half-and-half cup, but I hate the taste of coffee so maybe it was weak. I would actually have given this place 5 stars, but I was charged double the $9 my order should have cost and paid it without really calculating (I'm still used to NYC prices apparently). When my family pointed it out, we went back in less than a minute later. The guy was irritated that I hadn't asked for my receipt. I think of myself as earth friendly and try not to take receipts on things I can't return. After his lecture (when he finally agreed I'd been overcharged), he rudely advised me "Next time I suggest you get a receipt." So my advice to you folks is come for the donuts, but calculate the price yourselves to make sure it's right. Then get a receipt. read more
