Jenny is the best!…read more The most important thing to me in this type of interaction is communication. Of the FIVE Astoria realtors I called, emailed, and filled out forms for, Jenny is the only one who reached out to me. I know the dead of winter isn't the best time to look for a place but... She showed me a couple places I wasn't wild about but then we walked to the other end of the neighborhood to check out one that wasn't on the market yet due to renovations. We met the building owner that day. I signed a lease soon after, and she was there helping throughout the entire process! Highly recommended!

I'm surprised to see the glowing reviews on here of Jenny. It feels like we're almost talking about…read moretwo different people. I met with Jenny during a recent apartment search, which was in the first week of the month (specifically, we met on the 3rd). I was seeking an apartment for the following month. After showing me one apartment that I didn't love, I felt like she pressured me to like it more -- telling me how perfect the landlords were, how I wouldn't find anything else like it, harping on features that ultimately didn't matter to me. It was incredibly awkward, and I found myself repeating that it's simply a matter of preference. It turned out that this was one of two apartments she had available at the time; the other was in a completely different location than where I had wanted. After this, she told me that I had started my search for an apartment too late, and that most apartments for the following month were already rented by now. As someone that was needing to find an apartment during the busy summer season, this was a stressful thing to hear. I ended up quickly finding an apartment with the next broker I met with. More importantly, though, were the vast number of apartments that became available throughout the week and the month. (Of course it wasn't too late to find a place on the 3rd, how could I have believed this?) While I don't like writing negative reviews of people in the neighborhood, I'm posting this in hopes that anyone with a similar experience will take it with a grain of salt. There are so many apartments in Astoria and in NYC overall. Don't let anyone rush your search. An apartment is a personal and important decision. And most importantly: your options are not constrained, regardless of what you're told.

Zach immediately picked up the call when I reached out the first time and even though he was on paternity leave, he still took the time to get a list of all the things we were looking for in an apartment and scheduled a few showings around our busy schedules. There were instances where he couldn't make it and he would even send another agent out to show us some apartments. He was honest, personable, extremely flexible and is sincerely looking out for his clients and their needs. We had a great experience working with him and will be recommending him to anyone who is looking to move to the Astoria area.

This is a challenging review to write because i was working with an agent on a set of particular…read moreapartments of interest, and things just didn't get off to a smooth start. I decided to be patient and thought maybe the person just needed a few moments to collect themselves and get it together. We all have those days and sometimes we just need some fresh air or a cup of coffee to really get back in the "professional zone". So I was really giving this person the benefit of the doubt, and didn't voice my concerns out of common courtesy. It was so hard when my original review was going to be 3/4 stars prior to all the hiccups i experienced, but I decided it was best to be honest with my experience and go with a 1 star rating/review. It wouldn't be fair to me, and it wouldn't be fair to any future potential prospects to go through a similar experience. To be clear about my experiences, the agent i was working with came off extremely unprofessional and even after providing the additional time and my stance on exactly what i was looking for, the person still failed to deliver. I am not sure if someone like this could ever be saved because it is apparent this person has been operating like this for some time now (over a decade), and we all know people seldom ever change. I don't think the bad habits this agent exhibits will ever change. At the end of the day, i was just in shock the person wanted 50% of the security deposit (their commission) for work that was barely performed. I understand the agent's primary client is the owner/developer who owns the empty unit that has to be filled. I totally get that, and that makes me a secondary client, but i am paying you tons of money (50% of the security deposit) to do something so basic as being a tour guide, i expect nothing but a stellar performance. In addition, with what i am paying out of pocket, i expect the agent to treat me as a competing primary client. The person failed to deliver on something so basic. It is similar to an Amazon employee delivering groceries and messing that up. How basic can it be to take grocery items from location A and drop it off at location B? Anyone with a junior high school diploma can do it. No one is asking anyone for their college thesis, or to write a dissertation, or to find a cure for cancer. Just asking for someone to be a simple tour guide and get 50% commission off of something so simple. I would have so much respect for the agent if they were upfront and said: Look, I don't want to do any work but I want 50% commission. I want to do the least amount of work humanly possible. I totally get it. I understand brutal honesty and respect that. It is appreciated, but it didn't even get that far. The picture the agent posted on Yelp that has the caption: THE SKYS THE LIMIT truly kills me. Clearly, the agent's customer service skills didn't have the same outlook because it was the furthest thing from reaching the sky. It was just below F grade level customer service. Just disappointing to see someone screw up on the basics, and i won't be utilizing their services again. The agent must be closing tons of sales in this pandemic and cashing in on 25K plus a month for me to receive unprofessional treatment. A word of advice: PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

Vickie is the shadiest "business woman" I have ever encountered. Despite her being over 30 mins…read morelate to the showing we'd scheduled, I quickly forgot when she showed me an apartment that was exactly what we wanted. We applied for the apartment and were approved within 24 hours. I even gave up a non-refundable deposit on another apartment because this one was worth it. Unfortunately, I was completely fooled by her facade -- she is a bonafide LIAR. A few days later (two days before lease signing) I received a text from Vickie that the tenant and his wife were supposedly getting a divorce and that he wasn't leaving until July (I needed a June 1st start date). She promised an interim move to an apartment across the street, but every time I tried to meet with her to finalize things there was some excuse, and it got to the point where she would only answer texts (sometimes) but never answer calls. She continued to lead me on for three weeks and left me in a very vulnerable situation (pretended she was going to show me another property, only to never respond about an appointment time) and even got to the point where July turned into August for the current tenant's move out date. Days before I needed to move I found another broker who was absolutely awesome and ended up finding us an even better apartment ASAP! To top it off, a few days later I saw that the apartment was posted on streateasy (for a higher price then Vickie told us it was...hmmm) and asked her for the application fee back, and let her know that we were not happy with her dishonesty -- she should have never showed us an apartment that wasn't available. She then tried to accuse me of "vanishing" when I had proof of all of our text conversations (since she wouldn't answer the phone), and even tried an excuse about her phone being broken. I had seen other reviews about Vickie's questionable (to put it nicely) practices, but her reply to them made it seem like they were just unreasonable or disgruntled customers. I should have believed what I read in the first place. I hope Vickie learns that it is not okay to treat people like this. STAY FAR AWAY!

After all this she tried to get us to sign a liability release form but by then we had learned about the bedbug disclosure act and used it to take them and the management company, Allioni, to court. She and this company are completely dishonest. Our ordeal with her was traumatic and expensive and I advise everyone to avoid this company entirely.
