After we had made our choices and I paid, the young woman working that drizzly afternoon offered a piece each on the house. Lol. That was a bit backwards if she was trying to get more sales! The chocolate we bought was great. This time? Completely different story. We walked in--me and my 88-year-old father--and not a word. No "hello," no acknowledgment, nothing. Just silence. There was one other mother and daughter in the store, so it's not like they were slammed. We start looking around, trying to figure things out on our own. I noticed the sample tray under the glass dome and walked over. All that was left were crumbs. I joked, "Wow, those are really small samples," before realizing there weren't any samples left at all. The employee hears me, walks over, takes the entire tray away... and still says nothing. No "sorry about that," no offer to bring out more, no attempt to engage. Just removes it and goes back to ignoring us. At that point, we walked out. I'm not going to spend premium prices in a place that can't even manage basic customer service. If you want to charge premium prices, you need to provide premium service. That starts with something as simple as acknowledging customers when they walk in the door. I likely won't be back.
