Friendly fast service by Raymond and Kari. After waiting at a 76 station with multiple pumps out of service and no human service, we went to the Chevron in Ladd's Addition. Ray came right away to serve us. He was friendly and made a connection to us remembering the 1989 earthquake that hit the SF Bay Area. Attendants have always been pleasant and oftentimes clean my windshield. I like their small discount from scanning my Fred Meyer rewards card. Even though I could probably just drive another mile and get cheaper gas, the point is I needed gas in the first place and Ladd's Shell is usually on my way to wherever I'm going. read more

Amazing people at this Chevron that used to be a Shell. I've lived in the neighborhood for years and they are a wonderful part of the community. The owner and staff are so great! Especially the counter staff who are super friendly and go out of their way. They are generous and protective of us in the neighborhood. Kari, Raymond and Matt are outstanding humans. Raymond just gave me his own bottle of lens cleaner when they didn't have some for sale and is happy to clean people's cars for free when he's hosing down the lot. I consider them friends. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAS STATION! THEY TOTALED MY CAR, HAVE REFUSED TO PROVIDE INSURANCE INFORMATION, AND MAY BE OPERATING ILLEGALLY. Please! Drive to the other Shell at SE Grand and Alder, near the base of the Morrison Bridge, to refuel your vehicle safely. On the evening of April 2nd, an attendant at this gas station put 10 gallons of regular gas in my DIESEL '05 VW Beetle and caused extensive damage to the fuel system. The station attendant who filled my car admitted fault after I tried to pull the car out of the station and had to pull over before I reached the Safeway up the street as my car's engine stalled over and over again. However, his manager refused to give me the station's insurance information, although I was able to get the phone number for the owner. Since that day, the gas station owner has refused to take responsibility for or repair my vehicle through official channels, instead trying to coerce and threaten me into letting his employees perform the necessary repairs on my car (this location is not a garage and even after considering my pocketbook I refused). The owner has now hung up on me and my Geico insurance team repeatedly, has threatened and yelled at my insurance claims team, and has taken no responsibility whatsoever for the damage to my vehicle. I have contacted Shell and they've filed a complain against the franchise location, but nothing has come of it. Shell also gave me the information for a company in Salem that supposedly owns and manages the gas station, which I passed along to my Geico claims team. However, my agent has informed me that the company in question, when served with papers related to the insurance claim stemming from the damage to my car, claimed they had not been affiliated with the Ladd's Shell in some time. This business does not, from what I can tell, appear to carry a current insurance policy. They have hidden how they are owned and operated, and refused at every point to take responsibility for their actions or even to treat my Geico team or myself with basic courtesy. I have been waiting for months for my insurance company, which has advised me against attempting to contact the owner directly due to his conduct, to gain some traction on this case. And we have gotten nothing. I will probably have to pursue this through a police report, contact with the BBB (although they are not BBB accredited, maybe I can help warn other consumers), and see if I can get the local media involved. I lost my car in the middle of job hunting, and cannot emphasis what a tremendous inconvenience this entire stressful situation has been. If it were possible to give this station negative stars, I would. Months after the incident, I remain extremely angry over the entire situation. I can only post my story in hopes of saving others similar frustration. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS SHELL STATION. DO NOT RISK LOSING YOUR CAR TO A SHADY BUSINESS THAT DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE CURRENT INSURANCE OR BUSINESS REGISTRATION. Today I sputtered in on fumes, in a rush and running late, and they got me in and out faster than pretty much any other station in town. What else do you want from me? It's a gas station. Amazing employees! Every time I go here to get gas I'm always greeted by the nicest people! When I pulled in I was greeted by this one teenage boy and he was the sweetest person I've ever met. He cleaned my windshield and gave me a rundown of all the best food locations in the area like I asked. Great service and the owner is nice as well. read more

Rude A friend of mine, a young woman, on a bike Saturday night, blew a tire on a around 10 PM. The attendant asked her to wait just one second and he would turn on the compressed air. He proceeded to shut all the lights off inside and after waiting a reasonable amount of time, she realized that this person had no intention of coming back out. She called me, completely perplexed. She was forced to walk her bike all the way to Powell to find a gas station to fill the tire. This is not only ridiculous service, it shows a lack of basic human courtesy. Portland is quickly losing the friendly small town feel that we were once so esteemed for. This behavior is a perfect example. Steer clear of this gas station if you still appreciate common sense and basic etiquette. read more

The lads at Ladd's generally are quicker on the pump draw than most of the service stations I've been to in Portland. I have yet to see any of them smoking near the pumps either, which is something I really wish I could say for some of the other service stations I've been around. read more

I will avoid this gas station. Gas prices are high. The attendant was polite but seemed to go out of his way to be unhelpful. He only put $20 in, instead of filling it like I asked (and we discussed). After the transaction (and I received the Fred Meyer discount) he said he didn't hear me say to fill it (even though we discussed it). But of course to fill it after the transaction would require a second transaction that the Fred Meyer discount would not apply to. I called him on it and was told there was nothing he could do. I attempted to get the phone number (one of the numbers on the station window was scratched off) to call the manager, the attendant told me I'd have to look on yelp. Yelp? really? yep. He said the number on the window wasn't correct and he didn't know it. Really? the number that was scratched off looked like a four (but I wasn't sure), well, here on yelp the phone number matches (even the scratched out four). Very disappointing. read more
