When my rapid strep throat…read moretest came back negative, the nurse practitioner immediately framed the situation as "it must be gonorrhea or chlamydia" and started me on STI treatment, presenting it as the only explanation. When I specifically asked if it could be something else, she essentially said no. This was not only inaccurate but also incredibly irresponsible. What should have been said was something like: "Because the rapid test is negative, I'll start you on antibiotics that cover different possibilities, including STIs, while we wait for the lab swab to come back. It may turn out to be another bacterial cause, such as tonsillitis, which won't show up on today's rapid test. Let's cover our bases until we know for sure." That would have been professional, accurate, and safe. Instead, I left the clinic believing I had an STI and accused my partner of giving it to me. This created serious and unnecessary distress and could have had lasting consequences for my relationship. Days later, I got my lab results back -- I do not have an STI. What I actually had was a severe case of tonsillitis caused by another bacterium. All of this happened while I was so ill that I hadn't eaten in two days and fainted in the exam room. For a provider to so confidently and incorrectly declare an STI, without caveats or confirmation, was not just careless -- it was unprofessional and potentially harmful. Clinicians have a responsibility to frame uncertain situations with caution and balance, especially when the social implications are so high. This experience fell far short of that standard.

This Center has always been so kind and accommodating. Spoke with the wonderful Miss Avelina on the phone to reschedule a last minute cancelation due to an illness ( I work at an RCH and this happens often yet sometimes certain facilities don't understand) and without hesitation she didn't reprimand, talk down, lecture she said "life happens" nearly brought me to tears. We exchanged a little more conversation, I was comfortable and felt like I was talking to a good friend. I wanted to reach through the phone and hug her. When I showed up the door was locked and they were have some sort of meeting. Unfortunately for me I showed up 45 minutes early. So by the time they sort through the 15 people standing out front and hand me the paperwork I was supposed to arrive early to fill out, it been an hour. I fill out the paperwork and hand to the lady. At this point I'm pissed but keeping my cool. I basically got told it was going to be another hour... which would make me late for another appointment. This happens every time at this place. I actually like the doctors they're really nice people. I just don't understand why I have to lecture my doctor about being on time. I can't help but feeling like they have no respect for their patients time.

How can a business that provides such a critical medical service be so dismissive? Never again! I will continue using LabCorp in Santa Cruz. They aren't perfect, but they are far better than Quest.

While I was walking to a Capitola restaurant, someone's pet pit bull lunged at and bit me through my shirt and ended up making two puncture wounds in my chest. I was alone and didn't know the area, so I looked up the nearest urgent care, which happened to be Dominican Urgent Care. I wasn't in a lot of pain, but I was in shock, and I had no idea how quickly it was necessary to see a doctor after a dog bite. I drove a little faster than I normally do, especially once I got to the parking lot. I quickly parked and walked into the urgent care with oozing blood still making the stain on my shirt bigger. There were two women at the front desk, and when I said that I had been bitten by a dog, one of them asked me for my insurance. I told her I had Kaiser and that I knew this place wasn't a Kaiser facility, but I was from out of town and didn't know where the closest Kaiser was. I also knew that Kaiser would reimburse for emergency healthcare until stabilization no matter where it is performed, plus I knew that if there wasn't a local Kaiser, they would reimburse me for the entire bill. The other woman told me that if I paid out of pocket, the bill might be more than $1000, depending on what treatment I received. In my head, I was ready to fill out the paperwork and be seen by the doctor. I told them that I understood, and then the first woman said that Kaiser might not pay for anything if I knowingly got treated here without going to the closest Kaiser. I was annoyed by the tone of both their voices. Wasn't this the most American experience ever? I had just had a terrifying experience that caused a potentially serious injury, and the two nurses at an urgent-care facility were clearly trying to get me to leave. Even if their financial advice was sound--and it was--they could have treated me more like a patient than an unwanted pest. Exasperated, I asked them if they knew where the closest Kaiser was. One of them told me there was a Kaiser urgent care in Scotts Valley, and when I asked how far away that was, she kind of rolled her eyes and said it wasn't that far and that I should try that place. Again, perfectly reasonable advice, but I could do without the attitude. Plus, I had no idea whether adding twenty more minutes to my waiting time could be detrimental to my health. I didn't think it was an emergency situation, but I also have no medical training. These two women had medical training, but they neither made me feel at ease, nor did they reassure me in any way that taking more time to drive to Kaiser was the *medically* preferable option. I ended up going to the Scotts Valley Kaiser, and everything turned out fine, but Dominican Urgent Care was the first healthcare facility I visited after a traumatic event that injured me, and people here didn't give me relief, not even any peace of mind.

My eustachian tube dysfunction has given me trouble a couple of times before. She was very good with suggestions on what to do to help resolve it. But it may take longer to resolve with this cold.

And God Forbid if you need a specialty doctore, you are doomed. They have hired Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) who are NOT Medical Doctors. You are mostly thrown to the NP or PA who know nothing. They are just bodies to fill appointments. I have been with PAMF for over 10 years and my experience was really good up until 2019 when it was taken over by Sutter Health ! Its run like a business. The CEO is an ACCOUNTANT and other leadership team members are too. They have NO Medical experience therefore its just a number game for them. Because of them I landed in ER with a heart condition. LEAVE PAMF AND JOIN KEISER OR ANY OTHER MEDICAL HEALTH FACILITY WOULD BE BETTER.

The doctor asked a few questions and seemed to really consider what I was saying. They gave advice and went over different things that might help, which was useful. I didn't feel like I was being pushed into anything. Everything was low key and professional. Could've been a little more engaging but overall I felt heard and understood. No major complaints and the place seemed well kept.
