I came in with three layers of color- dark roots about 2 inches long, bleached muddy blond through the middle and orange ends. It was a disaster grow out. I had a consult with Markie for blonde highlights and to blend in my roots but since Markie couldn't do highlights at the moment, she deferred me to Tomy. I didn't know I was in for a treat. I showed Tomy pics of what I wanted and he insisted that the color I wanted would wash me out and that I would not be happy with the maintenance since I wanted low maintenance. Initially, I was disheartened but I can appreciate his honesty and after he explained what he thought would work better for me yet achieve something close to what I was looking for. I thought I came in for a consult but he worked me in between his clients so that he could show me what he could achieve yet still make me happy. Mind you, the salon was super busy but the man is a multitasking genius! He did a toner and root scrape while Markie did my haircut and Yasleen did my blowout. Did I mention that my color was a disaster? Well, 2 hours later, what was flat and orange and 3 different colors was now bright, golden and well blended. My dark roots melted into the blond so seamlessly, you would think Michelangelo painted it himself. I absolutely love the results!

Today I visited 7 hair salons and 2 beauty supply stores (yeah, you read this right.. 7!) to find the best place for all my hair care needs. I live in Midtown Miami and I made a list of hair salons near me that work with hair extensions. You see, I'm looking to get clip extensions for the first time and I have many questions re: price for installation, cut, color, etc. It wasn't until I visited L.A.B. salon and met Peter (my new hair guru) who took the time to explain their services. He also specializes in helping people grow their natural hair (which for me has been the same length for years!!) by using a unique haircut technique. He then went to explain the different extensions they offer ( also demonstrated how it's done) and even went online with me to search for the best "clip" extensions (i.e., color, style, length) since they don't sell that type of extension there (FYI: No other stylist did this!). He gave me a great price to cut and install my extensions when they arrive too!! Now aside from the clip extensions, I plan to return for all my future hair care needs (i.e., cut, color, blowouts) because the customer service here is by far the best I have seen all day!! Peter and the rest of the team (including the salon Shitzu who is so quiet and cute! LOL) are very friendly. They care about how you look and the confidence you feel when you step out of the salon. I was so thrilled that I immediately called my sister and she is willing to drive an hour just to meet Peter and get her highlights done! Tonight I feel relieved because although I drove all over Miami to find the best hair salon, I managed to save the best for last. It's so close to my home... I can't wait to come back!! read more

Listen up ladies, LAB salon in Midtown is without a doubt the best salon I've EVER been to. Aside from the beautiful decor and fabulous location the hairdressers are masters in their art. My heart officially belongs to Peter, he is passionate about his art and his work is magic. For the past 8 years I've had the desire to go blonde, yet I always got the same response from "colorists" my hair is too dark and it would not look good on my complexion. That was until Peter got a hold of me. He took on the challenge and turned me out!!! I have never felt so good about my hair or myself. Peter is hands down the master of blondes and color in general. He also gave me a fierce haircut, the movement in my hair is unbeweaveable! He also is the master of extensions, precise color blending and texturizing. I have the tapes and I swim, paddle board, and sweat all the time and these bad boys stay put! Peter is an amazing person he has a heart of gold which is rare to find. If you're looking for a stylist that is innovative, creative, and extremely attentive, then Lorenzo is the stylist you have been seeking. When I first met Lorenzo, I had hair similar to Moe from "The Three Stooges". I lacked a stylist that was skilled enough to create something from nothing. I had no specifics of how I wanted my hair other than wanting a radical change that is with the latest trends. He took the "bowl" cut and transformed it into a haircut I constantly received compliments on. But then he went one step further. Every time he cut my hair he slowly molded the cut making minor modifications to keep it fresh and new. Eventually, over the course of a few haircuts a new style was gradually born. Robert and Peter are AMAZING!! I first met Robert through a friend who goes to him to get her hair done (her hair always looks fabulous!), and she told me he does makeup, so I made an appointment with him to get it done before a big event, and he did an incredible job. I met Peter a few months later, when I went to visit Robert. I had gone to another hair stylist for a year or two, and I knew my color wasn't that great, but it definitely "passed." Peter took one look at me, and said he could change my hair - and my life - forever! ;)...and he did! He was able to correct the color and gave me the best hair cut of my life! The cuts and color last longer than any hair stylist I've ever gone to (I don't know how he does that!), I've been going to Peter for the past 5 years now, and recommend him to everyone I can. I recently went in to get a complete hair makeover my girlfriends kept pushing me to get after I had my first baby. I didnt think I'd let myself go but it happened. I definitely wont let that happen again. My friend had referred me to check out this hairstylist named Lorenzo at LAB. Wasn't too sure to try out ANOTHER salon. I went in not having an idea what I should get. This was by far the best experience ever. Not only did I get my hair colored, highlighted, cut and conditioned...he taught me and educated me about my own hair. No one has ever taken their time to explain what would fit best to my face shape or given me tips on products I should use while styling at home! It was worth every penny. Im not the type to write out reviews, but this is somewhere I will continue to go to for as long as they're in business! Thanks to Lorenzo and LAB, I walked out of there feeling like a star! I have been going to Peter for six years. He does an amazing job. Before going to Peter no one really got my hair right. When I was 18 I wanted to do my hair red. The person I went to before did it horrible. When I first met Peter and he fixed my hair. He did an amazing job and I loved it. On their website they have advertised as $95+ for a woman's cut and dry and says service takes 1 hour. I got there at 605. The lady who did my hair started at about 615. I started with a wash and then she went on to cut (literally trim an inch) and blow dry my hair. I said I liked volume, not flat hair. She went on to do the most unorthodox blow dry I have ever gotten. I could tell it was not going to end well but I decided to trust the process. After she finished I had hair sticking up from all angles, the frizz was out of control. This has never happened to me anywhere!! Not only did she use excessive hair spray which caused the frizz to not cooperate, but then she proceeded to cover my head in oil to try to tame them. Then she wanted to put on dry shampoo to cover the oil. What?!? And the worst part was that I was charged $160 plus the $16 tip I left (I tipped because even though the actual job was horrible, she did do something) I wish I had never come here. I left with $176 less in my pocket and horribly frizzy hair. I have so much product in my hair I'm gonna have to go home and wash it and try to properly dry it and hope I don't look like a mop tomorrow. I should also mention in the time it took her to blow dry my hair, a lady finished getting foils put on, another had her head washed, blow dried AND curled, and the foil lady started to get them removed! Maybe I just got bad luck with the person who did my hair, again, everyone was super nice. But coming here was a huge mistake!

I've never been more disappointed the stylist Luis on 2/6, for a cut and highlights. I don't know…read moreif this guy is on drugs, but I do know he has a MAJOR listening problem. I have never in all of my years had a stylist completely ignore me. I was so disgusted by the color he turned my hair I left in the middle of my cut I couldn't be around him for another moment. My highlights that were supposed to be golden blonde but they are orange but the most disturbing part about the highlights is that they do not go all the way down to the end of my hair they are literally just in the middle of my head. I have never been so upset about my hair. I just moved here was hopeful that since i was referred to him he would be good, but he is horrible. To make matters worse I reached out to the salon they told me the owner was going to make time for me to come in to FIX the disaster, after weeks and weeks with NO response from their salon I gave up.

They gave me a straight bowl cut layering around my head at my ear. I can't look at myself without crying and I can't fix it because of how high up the layers are. I didn't even ask for layers, just thinning my hair because it was heavy at the ends. Save your money and elsewhere if you don't want to feel gut-wrenchingly ugly for the next 8 months before your botched haircut grows out.
