For those of you who have never tasted a pastele this is the epitomy of comfort food. They are sold as combo with Spanish rice, or separately 2/$5.00. I usually buy them separately...they re-heat well. They've also begun selling smoked meat, and you can buy it by the bag or as a small plate: 1 scoop rice, smoked meat (and I think mac salad?) I am loving this food truck trend…read more Wife and I were starving after a hard workout and needed some quick grinds. Luckily for us we rolled upon this event at Enchanted Lake Elementary. Wife went to the 5-0 Ribs truck and got, well, the ribs. Tasty and tender. She also gave me a sample of the brisket which tasted like some kinda meat heaven. The guys at the 5-0 Ribs truck were sooo friendly with great service. I went to the We're Cooking Fresh For You Truck and got the steak with pesto on brown rice and salad plate. It was actually quite healthy and had a nice side of fresh apple and pineapple slices. Fun events aside from food. Drag racing cars revving their engines. Live music. Dancing. Basket hoop games. Great place for kids. Then our demons came out. We went to the Aloha on Wheels Truck and got the dreaded...The breaded..... DEEP FRIED SNICKERS WITH BACON on a stick So much for working out. I can't finish this review without commentary on the name. Perhaps my mind is more twisted than most, but why name an event that sounds like you made it to 3rd base on your date with a woman named Kailua? The only thing that I can review of their food is the beef gyro. It was the first thing I tried and I'm hooked! It's that good! They use Cattle Company beef with a tzatziki sauce that makes the gyro. They are generous with the beef. It's served with a small side of salad greens with balsalmic(?) dressing....all for $10.00. On their regular menu they also serve: Greek marinated chicken pita sandwich w/tzattziki and salad greens for $9.00. Hummus and toasted ptia for $8.00. Greek Salad for $7.00 They also usually have specials including a lamb gyro for $12.00, and a marinated fish dish. They do catering, and also go to the Mililani Market (and sometimes the KCC Market) where they do breakfast under the name G's Breakfast...and they tell me they make the best eggs benedict! Needless to say, I tried the Lilikoi Cheesecake and "The Golden Lion Milk" which consisted of macadamia nut milk, ginger, turmeric, local honey and lions mane mushrooms. OMG! I was blown away by the flavors. The Lilikoi Cheesecake was creamy, rich, and tasted like Lilikoi; it didn't have an artificial flavor. The Golden Lion Milk was absolutely delicious! It was perfectly sweetened, but not too sweet. The ginger and turmeric were present, but not overpowering. I will definitely come back to buy more macadamia nut milks and try the other cheesecakes and food items. Before I forget, they also make their own Kombucha drinks and their special non-alcoholic beer for today is Guava.
