My family decided to order three different pizzas to try. We chose two margarita pizzas, cotta ham and mushroom, and a special pizza. The margarita pizzas were classic and delicious. The dough and mozzarella were outstanding, fresh, and perfectly chewy. The pizza sauce was definitely homemade. The cotta ham, mushroom, and special pizzas were simply amazing. They offered a unique twist on the traditional pizza, with the meat adding a salty flavour that complemented the green toppings. We also noticed a chilli olive oil on the side, and adding it to the pizzas took them to the next level. It added a whole new layer of flavour that made it the best pizza I've ever had. Overall, we were not disappointed and highly recommend trying out this hidden gem of a pizza place just south of Buchanan Street.

I had likely passed by it before but this is the time I really noticed it was there and made myself stop. Pizza Mafia is a very basic place. They have large slices of pizzas (or you can order a full pizza), hot dogs, and sodas. The place is small and the only seating is in the form of two wood bars on the sides at which you can stand. Neither the limited menu or the lack of furniture should put you off. The pizza is really good and very reasonably priced. I personally ordered two slices and a drink (margherita and one with bell peppers and salami). The slices are clearly off the 20" pizza and can easily make a full meal. I fully admit I actually had to get mine to go and by the time I ate it at the train station it was cold, but the slices were excellent. The margherita wasn't standout, but the they used a nice amount of toppings on the other without overwhelming the crust. The crust was nice and thin without being brittle and the sauce was good. It's not the best pizza I've ever had but it was very good when judged against anything. It was fantastic when compared to other pizzas at its price point. My entire meal cost £4 and to have a third slice would have only cost an additional £1. I don't often eat when I'm in proper Stirling but I'm tempted to drop by Pizza Mafia. Sometimes we just all need a cheap slice... or two, or three.

Either way, I considered these signs to be good ones. It's not a huge bar, but its got plenty of seating, it's comfy and it's got a definite aesthetic it's aiming for. We visited on a Friday night and it was surprisingly quiet but they were doing their best t entertain the ~15 or so customers with an unobnoxious DJ set to go with their pizzas and cocktails. The volume wasn't so high you couldn't sit and chat and the DJ was mostly playing 90s Britpop and kept abandoning his post to come and chat with people. Seemed like a friendly guy who just wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time. Anyway, we ordered a couple of pizzas. I chose the Breakfast at Eisenberg's that came with ham, mushrooms and pepperoni. My partner went for the Margarita with added ham. Turns out that 9" and 12" pizzas are two-for-one when you sit in, but they do also do 16" pizzas and they offer delivery. We ordered two pizzas and two pints and only paid £20. The pizzas bases were thin and crisp and the toppings were good. Only downside? I could probably have eaten an extra half pizza. Maybe I was just hungrier than I thought that day but it made me think of North Star as a better place for lunch than for dinner (although I'll definitely come back for cocktails).

This little takeaway literally popped up near my flat out of nowhere. Now I have to walk past a delicious pizza place every darn day and somehow try and stop myself from entering! This is going to be a real test of grit seeing as Lamora's pizzas are mighty fine. One of the key things about a good pizza (I reckon) is the dough and their dough is wonderfully soft and light, but with a slight crisp, just how I like it. They have a wide range of good quality toppings and even do my favourite pizza which consists of Tuna and onion. It may sound wrong but it's a total Italian classic, showing that these guys know their stuff. If pizza's not your thing (amazingly there are plenty of people who are averse to it, shock horror!), Lamora have daily soup specials, pastas and focaccias. I've tried their minestrone and it was really hearty, flavorsome and rammed full of delicious vegetables. This along with a garlic and rosemary focaccia for £5.50 this is a meal not to be sniffed at. Simply great value for money. Lamora is a wee breath of fresh air in this part of Charing Cross. Being the only real takeaway in the area it serves up fine pizzas from lunchtime until late and has a very cool and fresh vibe that means it would not look out of place in a hipster area like Finnieston. Although predominantly a takeaway, there are a good 4 or 5 tables which means you can sit in if you like. Most pizzas are priced around the £8 mark which again is excellent value considering the size and quality. This is definitely my favourite pizza takeaway in Glasgow and I'm pretty chuffed to have it soo nearby!
