I had to switch to this office from my previous provider due to bad service, this place was a complete 180 from what I had dealt with for over 3 years. They were extremely thorough with everything, they explained every step of the way, the doctor took about 30 mins with me just explaining my options and my conditions. I received my glasses less than 2 weeks after my visit and had no issues with them. I referred my husband and my mom to this location as well just because of how awesome everyone is here. 10/10 would recommend and this is now my preferred optometrist location. read more

We love Dr. Liao. My mom has been seeing here for many years (so glad that she relocated her practice from downtown next to grand central market to Chinatown (easier to deal with parking). The clinic is lovely. The staff is expedient, professional and friendly. I also like that I can text with them vs making multiple phone calls; if they are super busy, might not be able to get to the messages right away (1 star deduction for this; otherwise, really a 5). My mom suffered a massive stroke 4 hrs ago; I was a little concerned how the eye exam would go since she is unable to speak or walk as a result. Dr. Liao was very understanding and patient; is professional but jovial and personable, like family. She was able to communicate and get my mom to respond using thumbs up or down. I recently saw Dr. Zhang for an eye exam and contact lens prescription evaluation. I'm a long-time contact lens user, so was essentially just going in for the prescription since I have vision insurance an no other eye complaints. The office is very nice, the front desk employees are very nice and helpful, and I felt like Dr. Zhang was very thorough and professional. I also contacted him a few times as a follow up because I've been considering Lasik -- I really appreciated his office's reliable communication, especially since I kept missing their calls. He left a very detailed message answering my question and when I called back to discuss further, he was happy to talk more, no feeling of being rushed or anyone trying to sell me anything. From the moment I called the office to schedule an appointment (got an appointment right away!), to the point I walked through the door g(at the gate of Chinatown , I had a pleasant experience. The front desk assistants were very helpful and greeted me with a smile. The space is clean, bright, organized, well staffed, and there is convenient garage parking located on premise with complimentary validation. Dr. Patel was great. Knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, she was understanding of my concerns and was able to answer all of my questions confidently without ever feeling pushy (unlike so many other eye doctors I've seen over the course of my "four eyes" history!). End result: I feel great with my prescription. There were no issues with my insurance (VSP). Awesome selection of name brand/fashion frames abound, and I even got a small discount off of my out-of-pocket lens purchase. Cherry on top: the doctor's assistants helped my husband sort through his (many) insurance questions with patience while he waited for me and they were even able to accommodate an eye exam for him on the spot! I don't remember the name of the optometrist I met, but he was really friendly and made me feel comfortable during the eye examination. My first time here was back in 2016. It's now 2020. I was recommended here under medi-cal. They had me pay $130 for the frames. I needed new ones after those had broke so I went to another office in Culver City in 2018. I loooved it and they only charged me $100 flat. Here we are a in 2020 and my new doctor sent me back to this ghetto place. I must admit I immediately began to cry because I knew they were going to be full of bullshit all over again. They let me know at the end of the appointment how long it will take. I was upset again because the location in Culver City takes one to four hours to be ready. This location said, 2 to 3 weeks. Come to find out, it took one week and they never called me to pick them up. It's now the 3rd week and I called for them to tell me a lie that they text me. How professional is that?????!!!!! You leave voicemails and emails if you really gave a damn. Do not come here. I will never ever everrrrrrr again. My eye glasses are the most essential to me and it's not a joke. I've been a patient with LA Vision Optometry for 3 years. I had scheduled an appointment with them online and someone called me to tell me that my insurance doesn't cover exams and that I had to pay. I corrected them and told them that VSP should cover. They insisted that they didn't so I cancelled the appointment. They called me less than 5 minutes after to let me know that it covers and so I kept the appointment knowing that VSP covers my eye exam. I'm here at the optometrist right now and one of the receptionist tells me that I am responsible for paying for the whole exam. I explained to her that VSP should cover and that I was informed by her coworker that it covers the exam. The coworker comes out and blames VSP for the mistake. It indeed is covered. The optometrist asked me if it was my first time there. Told her I was there last year. And the year before. Total of 3 years counting today. Informed me that my record was not on file. Asked me for the spelling of my last name. Told her. Said she had to make corrections. What was the last name they had me under and WTF happened to my medical record?! The ladies at the reception aren't really friendly and has a nasty attitude. Don't know if they even abide by HIPPA since I see them gossiping the whole time. Anyways, don't think I'll be back anymore even though the location is by where I live and work. Will take my business elsewhere cuz they obviously don't need mine. read more

Dr. Judy Liao is both professional and very knowledgeable. In such a short amount of examination time she was able to tell me more about my eyes than any previous optometrist I have seen. All optometrists are not created equal as I have been fitted with contact lenses that have caused me to have painful corneal ulcers in the last, but Dr. Liao is a cut above the rest. Dr. Liao was also very thorough in checking my eyes as she discovered that my eyes were inflamed from a cold before fitting me with a pair of contacts, which undoubtedly would have irritated them. read more

She is super sweet, very smart, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. She definitely knew what she was doing! Really bad costumer service!! We got a couple of glasses from this place, but so disappointed for the treatment from the workers in this place. When you spent more than $300 the least that you expect is a good service. They do not know how to take care of the costumers. More over, when you are not satisfied with the product and try to speak with these people, instead of helping you with this issue, they make you feel uncomfortable and on top of that they give you a really bad treatment. Make sure to check your merchandise before you leave this place or you will be so disappointed for the quality that this place offers. It doesn't really matter whether your paying for your glasses or you are getting them through medical. They need to make sure that the product it is in good condition. They gave us the worst glasses i ever seen and when ask for another one, their excuse was, that that's what medical provides. So medical provides only trash and you instead of try to fix this made this worst by giving away to the costumer this worthless product. read more

My insurance didn't cover the type of transition lenses that I wanted, but the staff member assisting me was able to get me a very generous discount for the out of pocket portion and offered a "half now, half later" payment plan. If you try to select glasses from the basic section which is automatically covered through most commercial insurance they have a limited amount of glasses selection approximately less than 10-15, not the brightest. Before at old location in dtown la, they had variety for my insurance to cover glasses. I paid the difference on brand glasses. I will prob search for other optometrist offices that have broader selections for glasses covered through my insurance since as a consumer I still paid $ 117 total. (co-pay$10, price of glasses subtracted by (-)$130 allowance given,lense fee base off of vision. They need to give flat rates like that other company on ads that gives eye exam and 2 pairs of glasses for under $150 total. read more
