La Veneta is a cozy spot in Gallatin's downtown, well worth the trip up 109 from Lebanon or Mt. Juliet to enjoy the delicious, homestyle Italian dishes the restaurant has become known for. With exposed brick walls and an open kitchen, the atmosphere is rustic, relaxed and informal while still being nice enough for a date night. The staff is friendly and don't rush guests out, allowing you to order multiple courses and savor each dish. Also - the price point for the quality of food is worth noting. It's Nashville-level food at suburb prices. Bravo and well done. The restaurant has a full bar with cocktails, tap beers, and a wine selection. But diners can also bring their own wine for a $10 corkage fee per table, making it a truly economical choice for larger parties. It deserves 5 stars for the delicious food. And the BYOB, is a rare option these days. Feedback for the management would be, either hire a dedicated busser or have servers clear tables, even if they aren't in their section. When we dined there, we were surrounded by tables piled high with dirty dishes and glasses. Even if you're backed up in the kitchen and can't clean them, surely there's a better place to stack them - anywhere but a dining area. It might have been a fluke the one night we were there, or perhaps one server who wasn't pulling their weight. But we saw plenty of servers who could have grabbed glasses and plates on their way back to the kitchen - but none of them did. It just made the room less enjoyable. So please take that as an opportunity to improve. Cleared tables would have made an already lovely evening far better! read more

They do not have their liquor license as of yet so you are able to bring your own wine and there is no corkage fee. Keep in mind that this may change as the business is just starting. A Pricey Disappointment It's best to let a negative dining experience go without comment, and simply not return to the same venue, but when you've spent well over $100 on a dinner, sometimes it's worthwhile to warn others so that they can avoid a bad night too. We dined at La Veneta on Thursday, February 13, 2025. I booked a table for four a week ahead of the dinner, but when we showed up, instead of seating us in the actual restaurant which was warm, brightly lit, and convivial, they seated us in the ice cream parlor next door. There was no warning as I booked the reservation indicating that I would not be dining in the restaurant. The ice cream parlor where we were seated was dark, cold, gloomy, and depressing because the ice cream place was closed for the day, and at 6 p.m., it was already dark out. I don't know why we were relegated to this other space, but we did not say anything and tried to make the best of it. We were not the only ones dining at La Veneta in the ice cream parlor. One older couple was really struggling with the uncomfortable chairs, and finally the husband got up and swapped his wife's hard metal chair for an upholstered one from the back of the room. No one noticed. No one cared, and that's a key point about this restaurant. The people who work there seem not to care about the guests, their comfort, or their satisfaction. They just don't care. We were a group of four as I mentioned, and we ordered an $18 Burrata appetizer that comes with 3 crostini. When Burrata arrived, I asked if we could have one more crostini so that each of us at the table could have one, and they said no. I'm not kidding. They said no. I had to order a basket of bread just so that all of the diners at the table could get a crostini. The bread was eaten and enjoyed, and the bread was good, but again, how does this make sense? Why didn't the server tell us when we ordered the appetizer that the app was designed for 3 diners, not 4. She could have told us up front as we were ordering. Anyway, back to the dining experience. Two of us got the chicken cutlet, one person ordered pasta, and the remaining member of our party ordered the pork chop. The pork chop was the best item of the three. The pasta was a huge disappointment. You could make better at home with a jarred sauce and store brand pasta. The chicken cutlet was the size of a shoe, extending beyond the edge of the plate. It was OK, but just OK. You could make a better chicken cutlet at home yourself and you wouldn't have to deal with receiving only one thin lemon wedge to squeeze on top of it. You could have the multiple lemon slices needed for the chicken. One recommendation for improvement would be to use the ice cream parlor as a pizza place. It already kind of gives pizza joint vibes. As for now though, if you like dining in an unheated, dimly lit, and closed ice cream parlor, then La Veneta is for you. (We had to wear our coats the entire meal and we weren't the only ones.) If you like being nickeled and dimed over a piece of bread, then La Veneta is for you. If you want to pay top dollar for mediocre Italian-style food, then again, this restaurant is for you. read more

We went to the annual fall festival on the square of downtown Gallatin today and come upon this restaurant. I don't know if they changed their regular business hours for this festival, but from what I have found they are only open for Dinner. Now to the review. I gave it a 5 star. The staff were awesome, the service was very good and the food was flavorful and came out in a timely manner. You can see the kitchen no matter where you sit in the dining area. I saw some beers on tap. I'm not sure about a wine menu. The menu is small and simple. Appetizers, salads, pasta and some dishes with meat and desserts. Moderately priced. One thing I noticed is that you can pick between 4 different pastas and top the pasta with your choice between 5 different sauces which I really liked. This business just opened around 10 weeks ago and has a coffee shop connected to it that does a Sunday brunch. I recommend it and I love supporting local businesses and communities. read more

I have visited La Veneta on 3 occasions now since they recently opened. I believe in waiting to review new restaurants after several visits because like every new business they deserve time to work the kinks out. During my first visit a week after opening I was solo as I wanted to focus on the food. I was after all hoping for a more authentic regional Italian experience. One centered on authenticity vs mass produced dishes based on the American idea of Italian Cuisine. I was fascinated that in less than two months time Sumner County was getting not just one, but two restaurants operated by actual Italian natives who learned their craft in their home country and from their Italian families. Like any foreign cultural establishment in the US, the operators must walk a fine line of authenticity vs ensuring that the business thrives in a market with different cultural norms. This should be seen more as an indictment of us consumers, unwilling to check our expectations at the door in order to explore a food and culture that had a pivotal role in the shaping of western society itself. Chef Laura walks this line perfectly, with respect to her heritage while bending ever so slightly where needed to thrive in a Suburban market not used to Authentic Italian fare. Her menu takes us on a journey through the heart of Rome in Lazio, through the country side to Florence and across the water to the shores of Sicily. During my second visit with friends I spoke with a neighbor at the bar who was confused when it was explained that the "sauce" of Cacio e Pepe was not built with cream but simply with Pecorino, pepper, and pasta water. A dish fantastically simple though surprisingly difficult to master. Simplicity, the heart of Italian cooking, flavor through the organic use of fresh unadulterated ingredients and balanced by the regional influences of cultural and economical survival. A previous reviewer left a negative review by decrying that the kitchen refused her and a friend's demands to alter the Chef's recipes by adding different proteins and seasoning. Her expectation of a good dining experience was predicated on forcing her own ideas and recipes onto the proprietor. I for one am glad she was refused such a ridiculous request. We just finished a very nice dinner at La Veneta The food was absolutely authentic as well as delicious. They also were very accommodating to my special requests. The desert selection was very attractive. We shared a crème brûlée and brought two other desserts home to enjoy later with a movie and coffee. Our server was very attentive and they had a great price point considering the quality of food. We definitely will return I did mention a glitch in their online reservations as there were none available between 4 PM and 6 PM when in fact, we were one of two tables only. The waitress did send somebody over that's in charge of that and he explained their reasoning for the way they do their online reservations. I understand what he was saying, but it's simply is not effective especially for people getting off of work who want to make a last-minute reservation. Also, a little ambience would be nice in the evening, perhaps a tablecloth or even white or brown paper on the tables. Glass water glass would have been more appropriate than the red plastic coke cups. I would also have enjoyed some Italian or dinner music in the background. This is the most embarrassing dinner I have ever had, from the time we walked in just to be walked into another room with no tables setting or atmosphere. It was valentines day..... the menu is in some serious trouble with no fish options no shellfish or imagination at all. I have been in food service for 50 years and have been retired for over a year, I love food and I'm easy to please but this was just bad. the service staff had no pride in their work, the owner should be embarrassed to be in this industry.lets just say three glasses of wine, one appetizer, one salad, grilled chicken thighs with nothing on the plate, one side of Brussels sprouts, one pork chop with green beans and one dessert for $150 lesson to be learned. We had a party of five for dinner and everybody enjoyed their meal from the appetizer through to dessert. Everything was very fresh. Three of us ordered the gluten free pasta and you couldn't even tell the difference from regular pasta. It was very good, not grainy. My wife had the gnocchi and said it was excellent. My husband and I ate here a little over a week ago. We were sat a minute or two after we walked in. We were sat on the side with the coffee bar. It took a little while for our server to get to us but we just figured that they could be short staffed. We weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a problem. I ordered the fettuccine and added the chicken for an extra charge of $14. I had the burrata appetizer so by the time my entree came, I wasn't as hungry so I decided to package the rest up and take it home. Today I brought it to work for my lunch. Half way through eating my grilled chicken breast, I bite into it and it is spongy. I take a closer look and it's raw in the middle. So now I'm immediately scared I'm going to get sick. I've taken a bite of chicken that this restaurant did not fully cook and has also been in my refrigerator for a couple days. I am so upset that I didn't catch this health hazard at the restaurant. I would have asked for my money back. I do intend to alert the health department. A mistake like this puts people's lives at risk. We went with another couple and had such high hopes for this new place! It's BYOB now, which stinks to not even have wine with your dinner and we didn't know ahead. They have beer, but it just doesn't hit the same when you are having Italian food. The room is very bright, giving a cafeteria feel, the furniture dated, beat up. If they lowered the lights, maybe added dimmers, it might help. Also adding music might be an idea. The menu is limited.... One friend ordered the chicken dish, which ended up being nothing but very basic breaded chicken with some Green Leaf lettuce leaves on the side without any kind of seasoning, dressing...nada. Pastas- we ordered the Rapini Pesto pasta, which was just ok, Cacio e pepe with spaghetti ( the pasta itself was good, well cooked) and Rapini side which was just steamed with garlic and butter. Our friend that is vegetarian likes some spice. She asked if she ordered a pasta dish could she have some spice added, maybe red pepper flakes or hot peppers. The poor waitress, who was very nice, Bri, said they did not have that. She ended up just ordered the just ROLLS for dinner! They came out stone cold. She said they tasted like they just came out of the bag of refrigerated rolls, hard as a rock. With little plastic containers with butter, balsamic and cheese. I asked could I have some sausage or shrimp added to my pasta or on the side, and she replied they don't offer that option. I do not understand how an Italian place can not have meatballs, shrimp, chicken, some sort of protein to add to pasta. Writing this while eating Burger King (little foreshadowing). This restaurant requires attention in many areas. While the server was polite, she was admittedly overwhelmed. Things started fine, orders were in and then time starts going by. Cracks started to show with the drink service. The person working the station is incredibly slow. We got our appetizer before we got 2 beers and a milk for my son. About 15 minutes for drinks. App was fine. The entrees come out, mine is missing. Bolognese and butter noodles for kiddo (they don't have a kid's menu, so this is a $15 bowl of buttered noodles) come out of the kitchen and they are both way under cooked. Not quite crunchy in the middle but hard. Both plates. Bolognese wasn't seasoned well, and it wasn't just us, salt was in high demand between the tables. They offered to bring my dish even though it was missed on the first go around, I denied. I figured I'd cut my losses rather than risk a $22 dish being like the others. Overall this was a $75 live and learn experience, which was sad considering this town needs more thriving restaurants. But not like this. This one felt like we were being taken. Prices are far too high for what they're serving, lack of awareness of their customer base, and general quality control that shows lack of caring. The menu is a single 8x12" piece of paper which had nothing I cared to eat on it and the prices were very expensive, e.g. $12 for a side of brussel sprouts. We ate at your establishment last night with friends. The food was good but WAAY overpriced. You get your entree with NO sides (they are extra) & no bread (that's also extra). The service was good. We enjoyed the ambience. Our bill for 2 (we had water) including tip was almost $85. This is Gallatin, not Nashville. Italian food isn't that expensive. Wow I saw a review on Facebook and I'm Italian so I thought I'd give it a shot. I drove from Nashville which was a 35 min drive. When we first walked in I was shocked to see all the miss match furniture. We were seated and given menus. I asked to see a wine list and was told that don't have their license to sell wine it's BYOB, disappointed to have heard that. But we ordered the appetizers which were the arancini balls and brochette with meat. The arancini came out and they were warm like they had been pre cooked and sat around with very little sauce on the plate. The brochette was toasted with a slice of mortadella on top, if it was my place I'd do sliced pancetta, pepperoni and salami thinly sliced, over all they were just ok. We ordered dinner, two plates of the gnocchi and a plate of the chicken thighs. I have to say the gnocchi I swear were the ones you can purchase from krogers, they were not home made. They were very dense and had ridges on them like they were store bought. The Bolognese sauce was disappointing. The kitchen thighs were just grilled with no flavor. I have cooked a lot better food at home. At the end I couldn't wait to leave the place and get back to Nashville, They advertise Italian food but don't cook like Italians. read more

This pains me to write this review, I'm not one who enjoys giving negative feedback, we wish the best to all new businesses and restaurants that are opening up, it really bummed all of us out that the food was so bad. We really wanted to enjoy it. we had a group of eight of us tonight and not one of us enjoyed our meal, I ordered a pork chop that was very salty and came with a side of broccolini that was very bitter and salty, I was unable to eat it, my husband ordered the Bolognese and the pasta was undercooked, and the sauce was watery and had no flavor, two of our friends ordered the pesto pasta and they were unable to eat it, they actually sent it back. I guess they make their pesto with the broccolin that is very bitter and salty , it did not taste like pesto, another one of our friends ordered the grilled chicken and they said it was too salty also, another one of our friends ordered the polenta that was flavorless and very dry and not creamy at all! The only positive thing I can say is the staff was very friendly and very helpful. hopefully they will be able to go over their recipes and perfect them because they need a lot of help. read more
