I love dining at Trattoria when visiting Moon Palace resorts. It's one of the restaurants you need a reservation for and has a dress code but oh, so totally worth it. It's located in the golf course. We were welcomed with a house cocktail and a mocktail for our young one, as well as a delicate tomato dip with breadsticks. Next we received a visit from the cheese cart, and got a sample of each cheese... so delicious! The food was outstanding and fresh and the dessert was so amazing: table-side tiramisu. This is new for this year and an amazing experience. This place is also great for celebrations and big groups. Love the decor and the views to the golf course (or the pool). 3 stars solely based on ambiance and service. Beautiful restaurant with live cello player. However food was terrible. Servers were quick and kind. But Olive Garden seems like a Michelin star restaurant compared to this. Eggplant parm was okay and couldn't even be cut. Salad was the best part of the meal. The gnocchi and spinach pasta were terrible. Only edible pasta was Alfredo penne and tomato spaghetti (but grocery store pasta and sauce are better). They made the tiramisu live which was nice but the bread was disgusting. The chocolate stratiacella was okay and the pistachio cannoli wasn't good. When we arrived for our reservation time, they stated that they don't have us in the system. This was a little frustrating because our whole visit was full of things like this frequently happening. I don't think that anyone was on the same page. However, the staff made it right and was able to seat us. we were celebrating our anniversary, and that was stated in the original reservation. They sat us next to several families with children, which would have been OK if the children wanted to be at the restaurant. Our waiter was very attentive and his assistant was very attentive as well. The food was a lot, and if we would have been hungrier, it would have been very filling the manager of the restaurant came out and made us affogato with a special machine which was nice. They also brought us a special anniversary dessert to share. read more

Delicious! We've been to Moon Palace several times and never managed to visit this restaurant. Man were we missing out! It's out on the golf course and has beautiful views of the course. The service is phenomenal, just like all their service is at the Moon Palace. I had the catch of the day, which was a white fish, tomato and arugula salad, four cheese gnocchi and eggplant parmigiana. To end the delightful food fest, I had their chocolate mousse sphere. This is one of the few restaurants of Moon Palace resorts that's not located in the main building. It's located at the top of a hill of a golf course. To get here from the Sunrise, go to the main entrance and there's a waiting area for shuttles to bring diners back and forth. The ride itself is about 10 minutes and gives a peak of the course and offsite areas. La Trattoria is located next to a Mayan restaurant (I'll have a review of that too) inside, the decor and vibe is a bit on the upscale side. Even though there are dress code suggestions, some still arrive very casually dressed. The service is very attentive. When we went, it was around 6 and not yet packed. So whenever I looked around for made eye contact with our server, he'd come by to check up on us. With so many things that looked appealing on the menu, we had to narrow things down and try the strong contenders. I'll briefly highlight a few as their menu may change over time. (See my photos for reference) The risotto was very average. The dish was mild and needed a bit of salt and pepper to bring out more flavor. The ravioli was good, but also on the mild side. I prefer a deeper flavor. The glazed beef had a great flavor but was incredibly tough. I hate wasting food and tried to eat a 2nd bite, but it was just too tough to chew. A total waste. They also never asked how I prefer it to be cooked. The spaghetti was awesome. Great flavor, perfectly seasoned, and we even asked for a big portion to replace the tough steak. All 3 desserts were played nicely and had us wanting more. Though the steak was a big letdown, I can't overlook how great everything else was. For our experience, it's a 5. Reservations are required and they're only open for dinner. Try to follow the dress code. Though I doubt they'll turn guests away, Trattoria does have a nice ambiance that can make dining here a special experience. Check out my photos! read more

Love the live music performance. The violinist was so talented. Lots of choices to choose from, but I recommend order more than 1 dish, because they plate size is big but the portion is very small. I highly recommend the tiramisu, which the chef makes it from scratch in front of you. read more

Oh my golly golly gem. This place was so wonderful. High end food and cooking. The picania, cauliflower soup and everything else we ate here, were just perfect. My 5 yrs old still says we should go back to eat the picania steak . We were in an all inclusive hotel Nextdoor and this restaurant was part of the deal. Now, I don't know if they also cater walk ins and such. From the 5 days in the all inclusive hotel, we came here twice in a row. And we would have again if we didn't " find it " at the end of our vacation. We also celebrated my 5 yrs old birthday and got balloons and a bottle of wine, which we left but appreciated the thought. Service was hmmm... strange at time. They really tried to do their best but often you never received a tablespoon with your soup and needed to wait a while until you reached someone. You would ask for a tablespoon and the server would nod but probably didn't understand English so... stuff like that. I would still go in a heartbeat. But with bug spray since we thought it'll be a good idea to walk from the hotel. It was NOT! We were eaten alive by their super power mosquitos that left marks on our bodies for two weeks!! Use bug spray for anywhere around the golf course and pathways! read more

The venue was recently renovated and it's beautiful! Fabulous food. Excellent service. We were serenaded by a violinist while the manager talked to the guests. The sommelier suggested a very nice Tucson wine to pair with our dinner. The server suggested several entrees. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. We enjoyed watching the Mayan coffee being made. Attire is slacks for men. Nice clothes for women. Highly recommend. read more

Emilio and Victoria were fantastic! The new Cello player was also wonderful. Background music that you could Comfortably speak with others at your table. Victoria came by several times, checking that everything was going well. When one of our party requested limoncello she retrieved a special flask of handmade product. I've never tasted better! Fun ride on the golf cart from our room to this restaurant at the Moon Palace! Saw an alligator at the golf course as well (yikes, be careful)! Unique restaurant! We were told it was very fancy, yet, we saw people dressed in shorts, sandals and tank tops (hmmm emoji). Any-hoo, the food was authentic, fresh, tasty and all around different! Far from anything else we had at this hotel. The spaghetti was plain old ordinary, but the meat was grade A! If you are looking for some of the best food at Moon Palace, this is it. Great Italian food with a twist, super cute for a date night but maybe a little more casual than what they state on their page :) read more

Been going to Palace Resorts for years. One the most continuously improved aspect is the quality of the food at their higher end, jacket required, restaurants. There are also food and beverage tastings that have been thoroughly enjoyable when you've had enough sun. read more

After a five star evaluation, we returned yesterday to celebrate my wife's birthday. Total disaster. This is a "Dr. Jackill and Mr. Hyde" kind of restaurant. The food was lousy and the service confused, to say the least. We left the "risotto zafferano" and the "fish of the day" untouched and nobody even cared about it. We opened a 110 dollars bottle of wine highly recommended by the sommelier the day before and did not like it at all and ordered a different wine. Again they did not care even to ask why, but yes they cared to charge it. By the way, the sommelier had mysteriously disappeared. To conclude the bad experience, they forgot the sweets. read more

The service was spectacular! Our waiter Emilio took care of our group of five like we were his closest friends. The food was delicious. I can recommend the mushroom pasta and the super tender steak. Then the food and beverage manager Victoria brought us her homemade small batch Limoncello to put a nightcap on our evening.... all the while we were being entertained by a cello player who was very talented. This place had some of the best Italian food I have ever had. We had the lamb chops, filet mignon, lamb shank, seafood pasta, tortellini, raw beef and tuna appetizer, molten chocolate cake and cheesecake. All the items were to die for. If I ever come back, I think I will have dinner here every night. Highly recommended A+++ remember to ask for the Mayan coffee at the end of your meal. Very disappointing to say the least. My husband and I have had dinner here on previous trips to Moon Palace and have been extremely happy, but sadly, that was in the past. They recently closed the restaurant to renovate ... the menu has changed dramatically... simply horrible menu selections. This restaurant was MUCH better PRIOR to the renovations and changes. The only edible portion of our meal was the Caprese Salad, other than that the bread had absolutely no flavor and was stale... the Sea Bass was horrible, couldn't take more than one bite. The "Special" Meat Lasagna was not good at all, Chef Boyardee tastes better so you can see what I mean by Disappointing. Thank goodness this was the only restaurant that gets such a dismal rating at the resort! read more

Very decent Italian place. You need to make reservations in advance, so plan ahead since they get booked easily. Service is excellent, 10/10, always coming to the table and refilling water, asking us questions, and helping us. I got baked lasagna and a capris salad that was spectacular. 100% recommend read more

This experience was terrible, we were misinformed to start off that men have to wear pants to even be allowed in the restaurant, then to follow that, because we did not want to eat there because we were misinformed and our plans did not work out, they were going to charge us a few for not eating. They also made us make a reservation for the place but when we walked in, there were only 2 other families in the whole place!! I will definitely not be coming here again. read more
