A solid Ecuadorian restaurant with tasty food but a little pricy Randomly decided to come to this location. Remember when this place was a vegan place with donuts and black bean burgers. Never had Ecuadorian food, so wanted to try a new place. The server/owner was friendly, but was pulling double duty serving and managing his kid. The place was small but there was plenty of decor and it was clean. They don't offer water, but they sell bottled water. They also offer plantain chips for the table. One thing of note, Ecuadorian food has a Lot of plantains. Almost everything has plantains or some plantains in them. It's not a bad thing, but they are everywhere! I opt for the mixed grill platter and the empanadas. Also get a fried stuffed plantain with fish filling. The mixed grill was very good! Well cooked and seasoned, the shrimp were cooked perfect but the pork was a little overdone. The steak was grilled over charcoal and had that great little smoky bitter taste you get with a charcoal grill. The empanadas were different but seasoned well. They came with a very potent salsa which was both fresh, tasty, and very vinegar and onion fronted. Had a good about of salt to help counter balance the bite, but it was very good. The fried stuffed plantains were okay. Not spiced but cooked well. Not a great bite, but prepared well. The meal was expensive, ended up costing about 70 for everything. So it's not a good deal, but the flavors are solid. Overall, very good food. Not sure how it compares to other Ecuadorian fare, but it's tasty food at a high price point. We went there today and I came out very disappointed. I ordered a ceviche mixto and only had 5 shrimps and a couple pieces of octopus. Couldn't find the fish. Also my plate was the last one to come out. It was only one girl serving and two others tables that came in after us. We're served before us. Maybe they are regulars or family. Service was great. The woman in the front was super friendly and attentive. They say you eat with yours eyes first and this place didn't disappoint in the presentation, the food itself tasted great and the portions for the price is very reasonable. This is a very small family run place. I took out dinner from here. Chaulafan de pollo and moro con pechuga were my dinner items, and both were really good. The carrot sauce was extremely flavorful. Green sauce was good as well. Nice to see another Salvadorian restaurant in Manchester. read more

The food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced! Great portions! The service was a bit slow but the waitress was by herself waiting on 11 tables so if you're patient, you will love it! The restaurant is VERY simple! You can definitely tell it's a new start up, family owned restaurant and they are trying their best to provide the community with the best service and Ecuadorian food! Excellent ceviche! It's fresh, it's a really good size portion, and lots of options. My friend got the shrimp ceviche while I got the toquilla ceviche. I really enjoyed mine but I probably wouldn't get it again. I didn't enjoy having break crab legs. So, next time (and there most definitely will be a next time), I'll probably get the mixto ceviche. For now my task is figuring out when I go again. They have a lovely outdoor patio and the staff and wieners are super friendly and family oriented. Can't wait to visit again. read more

Make an effort to try something new and go to this Family run Ecuadorian restaurant in the old Cinnamon Shop location. Small and clean inside and looks like mostly take out. For those not familiar with this cuisine the friendly owners with walk you thru it. The house ceviche is as fresh, limey and delicious as anywhere and big enough to feed three, especially with the fried plantain chips served with it. The steak/chicken skillet rice will make you forget about pork fried rice. Add a cheese and banana empanada (u get two per order) and you have plenty for two and enough for three. Everything comes with a spicy pepper sauce and green mayo, all house made. Drag it over to the Urban Lodge patio for cold Coastal or Maui IPA or a Fruit sour and it's a good night. What a lovely restaurant, nestled on Oak Street in Manchester, with ample public parking (free) behind the building! Went with my adult son who has a great foodie palate to try out this Ecuadorian restaurant I've been wanting to check out since it opened. Upon entry, we were immediately greeted and seated by a gracious host even though we were a bit early for our reservation. A delicious bowl of fried plantains with a yummy dipping sauce appeared. And we made them disappear just as quick! For dinner my son ordered the Lomo and I ordered the Ceviche Mixto. We were served in less than 10 minutes. The lomo was deep in flavor and the beef was melt in your mouth good. Served with French fries and rice it was a large dinner plating. The ceviche was a very large portion as well - really an appetizer for 3. The shrimp and fish were extraordinary and the dish was a perfect blend of all ceviche goodness. Used some plantains to scoop the tomatoes, cilantro and red onions dredged in the brine. We were both so full with no room for dessert, which is now our excuse to return pronto. Trying empanadas and flan next time! Price was appropriate for quality and amount of food. If you are thinking about heading to La Toquilla, don't hesitate! Second time visiting. I stopped in at 4:30 Sunday taking a gamble in wouldn't be busy. Upon arrival outside dining had eight people a inside two customers. We were a part of four and proceeded to sit inside. We passed the waitress on the way in (who just looked at us) so we asked the cooks if we could sit inside, they said sure. The other couple inside didn't have any food yet. After we sat down the waitress came in and out two different occasions to talk to the cooks. Both times never acknowledging is. Finally after she headed outside the third time we left. Only then when she passed my wife she said she could take out order now. Too late. I don't mind waiting, I just want to be acknowledged. That way I know she cares enough to be a good waitress. Acknowledgement people. It means a lot when you're waiting. A simple hi be right with you would have kept us waiting longer. Lesson to be learned. Before you sit down here check out how many waitress are on, how many customers and did you get a greeting. Otherwise you may be in for a cold wait. It was Sunday afternoon after running some late minute errants and me and Mrs were starving and wanted something different so we stopped in. We didn't see any customers but the music was loud and whoever was in the kitchen was having a great time. So we walked all the way to the back of the place. It was bright and colorful but also very small. The waitress/cashier motioned us to sit down, she didn't speak English and we didn't speak Spanish. She gave us a couple of menus and silverware and walked away and said something to the guys in kitchen. We knew what we wanted and pointed to the Mixed Grille and Lomo Salta. She said "very good" and disappeared into kitchen. 4-6 minutes later she walked back with arms full of plates of food and a guy from the kitchen who was alway carrying more food. Everything was very good but it just overwhelmed our table and there was no way we could have eaten it all, so we asked the waitress/cashier for take out boxes. It's a little pricey for such a small place but it's good food, good service and a good place to eat but I suspect it would awesome to eat outside when the weather is nice. read more
