Searched this place after the Diplo 5k. We loved the food and the service here. Pretty affordable for LA prices. The ambiance was a calm setting. We arrived here around 1pm. The food was very filling and delicious. It had a lot of flavor for just a few ingredients in the breakfast burrito. Definitely worth it! Vegetarian Breakfast Burrito: 4.5/5 Iced Horchata Latte: 3.5/5 (missed some flavor, lack of sweetness)
Big fan of this spot! The outside is rather unassuming, but the interior is very welcoming and sets a nice mood. Plenty of seating, free water, clean bathrooms, lovely artwork on the walls, and even some jewelry on display (and for sale). Love the aesthetic at this place! The staff are always very kind, welcoming, and helpful. I've ordered their breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich in the past, both hit the spot and the portions are generous. When paired with a delicious coffee (hot mocha is my go-to), you'll be leaving sufficiently full and either with plenty of energy for the day or in need of a fat nap depending on what you ordered. This place is a must visit and I'm excited to stop by when I'm in the area, go check them out and you'll be glad you did!!
Every coffee shop works hard to be unique and have some sort of standout quality, sadly many times it does not work out as intended. I can say that La Terraza cracked the code! The team really put their all into making the coffee shop feel like a unique space dedicated to their people and home while also giving a quality, minimalist presentation throughout the shop. Great space that provides a calming but colorful atmosphere. Now for the main thing: the food and coffee. The coffee was delicious, fresh, and had more options than I've seen at most coffee shops, many of which were Mexican specialty coffee drinks like the cafe de Olla (which was truly perfection in a cup). We ordered a lox bagel, side salad, and a breakfast parfait bowl, all of which were as fresh as could possibly be and prepped to perfection. Truly no notes, except that I need another Cafe de Olla.
The Cubano sandwich is sooooooo good! It does take them a while to make, but absolutely worth it. Their Nutella Latte is AMAZING!

Found parking right across the street but heads up Thursdays there's a farmer's market so can't park directly in front of La Terraza. I had the brioche sandwich fried egg, bacon and cheese, very deli!! And I loved the unexpected side of fresh salad, greens and cherry tomatoes. And I got a side of freshly grated hash browns, alil to much pepper for my taste and still palatable. And to drink I had a cafe de olla latte with almond milk, it hit the spot with a cheese and berry Danish. My friend had the same sandwich and wished they had a turkey sausage or bacon cause she doesn't eat pork, other than that, I recommend this spot! Ooohhh and the chipotle aioli was spicy thank goodness I got it on the side, no spicy for me :) for all you spicy lovers out there.

All of the staff at the counter were very helpful and made the service really smooth. I had the buttermilk waffles with berries and maple syrup. It tasted very fresh and delicious and it was just enough to feel full. I also got a side of scrambled eggs and they were nicely cooked and fluffy. They were even nice enough to give me a side of complimentary salsa for the eggs on the side upon my request. My man got the bagel and lox but substituted the bagel for brioche and it tasted very fresh and savory and was flavor bomb to his taste buds. We will definitely be coming back!
Tried out Barrio for Valentines Day and it was a bit underwhelming. Throughout the night we had like three different servers it felt they just forgot about us lol. Luckily the lady who checked us in came through and carried the ebtire service team on her back. She offered us free dessert to compensate for the wait on our food orders. Once we finally got our food, it was actually very good. You could kind of tell that the team was not very experienced with busy service, so I think my experience would've been better with a more experienced team

First time here. Had a quick lunch with my sister. Ordered the waffle with strawberries and Nutella. She got a breakfast sandwich I forgot what it was called. The iced coffees were yummy. Lots of options to choose from. I like the ambiance of the cafe. Dim lighting. Open space. I'll be sure to return! read more
Large neighborhood cafe near Cal State LA with breakfast sandwiches and burritos, tea selections and coffee. I enjoyed their brioche b'fast sandwich with bacon ($12.99) I added an extra egg for $2 and for the eggs to be scrambled, but they can cook them over easy as well. The bacon was thick and crispy and the eggs soft scrambled perfectly. It comes with a side salad, tossed in a light vinegrette. The service staff are welcoming and attentive. Music plays gently in the background, enough to hear and enjoy if alone, but not so loud that it interferes with conversation. Lots of tables and bar seating. And 2 tables in front on the sidewalk. I would've sat outside to get more light, but it's adjacent to a busy street so I chose to stay inside. As far the interior my only "least favorite" aspect is that it is pretty dark inside. Which sometimes that's a good think - cozy. But in the morning, I'd much rather lots of sunlight so I sat close to the window to grab some. read more
This is a great place for brunch and breakfast in City Terrace! Street parking. Excellent service. Plenty of indoor tables and a couple outdoors. Food and drink: The dolce de Leche iced latte was amazing. It had the perfect amount of creaminess and sweetness. The food was also pretty good. I got the sausage breakfast burrito. It was flavorful and the hashbrowns were crunchy inside. My daughter got the strawberry waffle and Nutella. She really liked it. My friend got the brioche breakfast sandwich and she said it was decent. She wished there was a thicker sauce to it. Overall this is a great place to brunch with family and friends. read more

We were able to walk in and order right away, the inside was really clean and spacious with lots of tables. Outdoor seating not available. Photographs and paintings cover the walls inside. There are some items for sale-mugs, coffee, woven mats. The food came out pretty quickly, I had a brioche bacon egg sandwich with chipotle aioli. The texture and flavor along with the sweetness from the brioche buns made for an amazing combo. I also had a cold brew, very good coffee. Great experience! read more

This little hole in the wall popped up in places I should try in this area and it didn't disappoint. This place is family owned, the place has cultural photographs, mugs and coffee. The coffee comes directly from Guatemala and is women owned plantations. It's like a little coffee shop you grab some food and do some work or just have a small meet up. The service was pretty good, you pay and then pick a spot to sit. They girls will Come around to ask if everything is okay. We got a Cesar chicken wrap, and a matcha ginger scone I believe it was. It was honestly pretty good! The wrap was pretty big, I had half Togo home. They do close a little early though which is a little bit of a bummer but honestly over all recommend. Also, I found it a little hard to find parking, but on the weekends there's a lot to park in. read more
La Terraza Cafe is a cute little local coffee house specializing in a variety of coffee, cold drinks, pastries, sandwiches, etc. This coffee shop is located in East LA near a public library. I like their interior decor particularly the art paintings hanging throughout the cafe. Similarly, the cafe's layout was spacious. Atmosphere was relaxing with good background music. I arrived early Friday morning to grab breakfast. I was perfunctorily greeted by a female server at the counter. She was patient enough to wait while I perused their menu as a first time customer. I ordered a buttermilk waffle with assorted berries and a café au lait. Breakfast was modest in taste and flavor; serving was of average size. Coffee was perfectly brewed. Service was impeccable. Prices were economically expensive. Street parking only. Overall, I had a good dine-in experience and had a good breakfast. read more

It had been a while since my last visit to Barrio, but I was so pleased to find that the consistency of the food remains excellent. This gem of a spot, which I believe is Latino family-owned, continues to serve the Grand Terrace community with pride, passion, and seriously impressive cuisine. We started with the Crispy Prosciutto with Fresh Mozzarella & Arugula along with two specialty cocktails. The salad was incredibly fresh--perfectly balanced and definitely a must-try if you're new to the restaurant. For my main, I went with the special: Guanciale-Texas Raised Wild Boar, finished with a Barbera wine reduction infused with rosemary. It was absolutely delicious--bold, rich, and thoughtfully prepared. A truly standout dish you can't go wrong with. The ambiance of the restaurant is just as memorable. It's beautiful inside, and don't skip a stop in the restroom--the wallpaper and overall aesthetic are a fun surprise and really showcase the attention to detail throughout the space. Overall, Barrio is a fantastic dining experience--great food, beautiful atmosphere, and a business that truly seems to care about the community it serves. Can't wait to back. read more

Cozy Italian restaurant serving authentic Italian cuisine. Located in the heat of City Terrace. Made reservations and were seated immediately. The service was great. Friendly attentive staff. For starters we shared a Caesar salad and bread. Amazing salad with homemade croutons. The bread was decent. For the main course I tried their short rib with mashed potatoes. Absolutely delicious. My wife loved her vodka rigatoni with shrimp. All in all a good family dinner. Come with patience as their dishes take a while to come out. My two children were hangry. Also forgot to mention that they don't serve wine or beer. read more

Really delicious French toast and a great shareable portion. The bagel was a little spicy, but good. Being that it was cold outside inside the restaurant was just as cold. Idk why it's so cold in there The food was great, but my only complaint was the tables:. We moved three times because the tables were wobbly and was kind of uncomfortable. We ended up just staying at the third table even though it kept moving. I didn't want to move and go looking for a good table. Each time I put my drink down the table would move. That was a little annoying. The food was great and the service was also great. read more

I found this place after researching a place to get some Cacio e Pepe. I will never end my hunt to try this dish at different restaurants. I stumbled upon Barrio and found it interesting based on its location. The reviews for this dish were good so I decided to give it a try. I should have looked at what other places the people who reviewed this dish so highly frequented. I did that post my visit and it all makes sense now. If you have ever been to Italy and had this dish, you know this dish is not properly prepared. Props for using pecorino and not Parmesan like other LA restaurants and for getting down the correct ratio of pepper, but the creamy element was missing. See my review for Met Him At A Bar for how this dish should look (the pasta used is irrelevant, I have had it with different noods). This dish was prepared as if the pecorino was just sprinkled over the noodles, which were cooked just right in my opinion. Was it edible? Yes, because I love cheese and carbs. However, it was not what the dish should have been. This dish can likely be perfected with some practice, namely perfecting a creamy sauce. The crispy prosciutto was great - think bacon with mozzarella and tomatoes. I was a little confused because as much as I love bread, I didn't care for the bread in this dish. I think this Keto diet I do during the wks is making me insane in the membrane. The combo was perfect with just the prosciutto, mozzarella, tomatoes and arugula. The desserts aren't made in-house but I figured let's see if the sweets at least redeem this place. I had the chocolate hazelnut cake and it was one of those ok, I've had it and I don't ever need to have it again dishes. As you can see, the inside is cute. A+ for effort in bringing a place like this to City Terrace to gentrify this area. The highlight of my dinner was Debra, the waitress who was very pleasant and attentive. While this does not get a yummy in my tummy rating, I am willing to try their vodka sauce dish, which is a more common dish. Perhaps more mainstream dishes are tastier. Stay tuned for perhaps another review in the future. Parking tip: I went early enough and found parking on Hazard, which is directly across the street with a crosswalk conveniently leading you right to the restaurant. read more

I've been wanting to come here for a while but today I finally pushed myself to try something new since I get a lot of social anxiety but the place made me feel like home. I love that it's a Guatemalan restaurant because I'm from Guatemala and there not a lot of Guatemalan places I know that are this close not only from my school but also from my house. The place is really pretty and the art work and pictures put a smile on my face. The salsa they gave me for my burrito and chips tasted just like my mom's salsa and the burrito was so good. Also the people that work there are really nice I had forgotten my box of leftovers and I called to see if it was there and the lady who was working there did me the favor to keep it safe and when I went back she handed me my box it was so sweet! Also it's student friendly I showed a picture of my schedule and I got my matcha drink for free! Anyways thanks to this cafe and the art work and the service I will be coming back :) read more

No outdoor seating, the outside is a small strip of sidewalk - not big enough for tables!
Do you have a corkage fee? Also, is outside liquor welcomed?

Good evening! From what I know, the bread isn't gluten free but I believe they do have a gluten free pasta upon request.
