The tables have been separated quite well so you don't feel you are eating with your neighbours. Customer service was excellent, they were swift in preparing a table for us, taking our orders and bringing over coffee. I love how extensive the menu is with so many options to choose from, suiting nearly every type of diet. There are plenty of vegan/vegetarian options and also gluten-free ones, also with customizable options for plates such as replacing potatoes with arugula salad etc. Prices are reasonable and the portions were quite generous, I really enjoyed the onion mashed potatoes and my husband loved the beyond-meat sausages. Lovely experience, highly recommend!

We are visiting from Toronto and have never experienced such an unpleasant situation at a restaurant before. We were looking forward to enjoying a nice family breakfast, but unfortunately this turned into one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had. We arrived around 10:30 AM, placed our order promptly, and received our drinks fairly quickly -- but then waited over an hour for our food. The restaurant only started getting busy closer to 11 AM, long after our order had already been placed, so blaming the delay entirely on the rush is unacceptable. When the food finally arrived, the plate my meal was served on was visibly dirty. At that point, after already waiting so long, I chose not to complain and just tried to enjoy the meal. Our server was kind, apologetic, and clearly doing her best. She even offered to remove three $7 juices from our bill because of the excessive wait. However, when the manager came to the table, instead of handling the situation professionally, he approached us aggressively and immediately asked, "What's the problem?" in a rude and confrontational tone -- despite the fact that I had never asked to speak to a manager. The situation became even more uncomfortable when the server explained that SHE was the one who offered the discount, and the manager proceeded to argue with her in front of us and the entire restaurant. It was incredibly unprofessional, embarrassing for the employee, and extremely uncomfortable as a customer to witness. No employee deserves to be spoken to that way publicly, especially by management. To make matters worse, after humiliating his own staff member in front of customers, he only removed two drinks from the bill instead of the three that had originally been promised. At that point, we were so uncomfortable we just paid and left without arguing further. For such a large and well-known restaurant chain, this level of disrespect, poor management, and lack of professionalism is shocking. The only positive part of the experience was the server, who genuinely tried her best in an obviously stressful environment. Unfortunately, the manager completely ruined what was supposed to be a special Mother's Day breakfast with family. I do not recommend this place at all and will definitely not be returning.

Soggy french fries drowning in a mess of metallic-tasting gravy and cheesy bits that don't seem to belong. Not here. These were pretty good. Thick-cut steak fries with a crust prevented any sogginess. As did the gravy: a proper amount so it didn't resemble french fry soup. Perhaps not made from scratch but at least from a decent stock base so it had actual flavor, wasn't pasty-thick from flour, and the quantity was reasonable. The cheese curds had very little flavor of their own but I liked their texture: just slightly chewy and beginning to melt from the heat but not completely. Overall the dish was rather salty, much of which came from the smoked meat add-on. (Montreal) smoked meat is similar to what is called pastrami or corned beef in the USA. It was in the form of cut-up squares of deli slices liberally sprinkled on top. I think I'd prefer small diced cubes, the size and shape of bagged frozen carrots. Interesting, though I think I'd try one of their many other add-ons next time. I'd probably be bored with plain poutine. The best poutine anywhere? I'm still too new to this dish to say for sure. Probably not the best but good, fun to eat, and filling. I think we shared a small and it was enough for both of us for a light lunch. We also had coffee which was above average and came with free refills. Being a nice day we sat outside in the sidewalk dining area and watched the activity on the Bedford main street. There is table service outside but you go in to pay. Our waitress was great, spoke pretty good English, and helped me connect my phone to their wifi. Inside looked nice too. There was a main cafe area and a back room filled with pool tables, foosball, dartboards, and the like. It's mostly a breakfast and brunch place. There are many standard breakfast items but I'm more intrigued by the breakfast poutine and crepes. The desserts looked great too but I didn't try any. Definitely worth a visit. I'd try it again for sure.

While it's logo and interior design is a bit "quétaine", Au Ciel confidently offers a fairly populated menu that includes many sandwiches, soups, salads and breakfast options for early risers. We had a vegetarian sandwich and French toast, accompanied by an almond milk latte and a double espresso. The food was good and fresh; nothing worth going crazy over but certainly demonstrating a sustained level of care and quality. The latte was fine; not the best I've ever had, but definitely better than average. In this semi-ghostly part of town, I consider myself lucky already to have been offered almond milk, so I'm not inclined to be too judgmental about the beans, which were very okay. The staff, which I assume was composed that day of the bistro's two co-owners, was courteous and efficient. They seemed very focused on their work whenever they were not chatting with a customer, awaiting future orders. Overall Au Ciel Cafe Bistro is a nice little place, and from what I've seen one of the few establishments in the borough of Lachine that serves coffee and breakfast before noon. Worth stopping by if you are in the area.

The decor is very homie and modern, yet simple. It's like your grandmother's house, minus the old people smell. Prices are very affordable, and it's all fresh and healthy. I had a chicken panini combo, which came with a salad and a bottle of water (12$ total). The salad had diced apples, yellow and red peppers, raisins, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and small pieces of walnuts too. It came with a side of olive oil based dressing that was delicious. The panini was amazing! The chicken was one of the most tender ones i've had, and it's cut into small pieces so that you don't have to rip it every bite (which also allows you to keep the panini together). The cheese was the same kind of cheese you'd have in a poutine, so you already know it was The little bit of spinach in the panini was the cherry on top. I definitely recommend this place! Good for a quick lunch, a nice afternoon date, or just pretending you're retired and you got nothing to do.
