We ordered 10 dishes: Pan Con Tomate (bread with tomato and tomato sauce), Patatas Bravas (Spanish potatoes; not greasy, very tasty), Albondigas de la Yaya (meatballs with tomato sauce; very tender meat), Calamares a la Andaluza (fried squid; nicely cooked and not rubbery, like them alot), Bastoncitos de Pollo (homemade chicken nuggets with BB sauce; crispy and tender, tasty BB sauce), Empanada Compesina (not too crazy about this one), Empanada Picante (spicy meat; it is okay), Spaghetti Carbonara (very soft, lots of sauce; nice dish), Yakimeshi (rice with squid and shrimp; my favorite!), and Macareno (hamburger, doble cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and fried egg; very juicy, mouth watering and very American hamburger!) Water is a very pricey item in Europe. We ordered three bottles of water at 2.30 EUR or 2.60 USD each. We did get 30% off our bill! The server was friendly, patient, polite, and very warm. Then I ordered their grilled shrimp that was small but packed with flavor & freshness. My last order was Galician style octopus. We were very hesitant to stay, as it was a very cramped and hot bar, uncomfortable really. We came only for drinks and tapas to stave off hunger, but we quickly realized that this wasn't just any bar, it was Argentine. Right behind the bar is the oven, where the real magic happens (which also explains the extreme heat we felt). The two men who run the bar (one who's named Malevo), make authentic Argentine empandas and other treats. My friend and I, after noticing a large order of empanadas being expedited to the party behind us, asked for two spicy beef empanadas. That was the best decision of the night. Freshly out of the oven, flaky, and perfectly seasoned, I can assure that these were one the best empanadas of my life. My friend and I were so impressed, that we took two more to go, as well as an Alfajor. Jesus Christ, the Alfajor was beautiful. Yes, it was different, with two soft shortbread cookies that just disappeared into my taste buds, but the dulce de leche was just the same delicious nectar that paired so well with the coconut. Not to mention, the alfajor was a generous size. We discovered the bar wasn't cramped, but rather intimate, as we soon chatted up a storm with a lady seated right next to us. It's a real pity that we discovered this place on our last night in Barcelona, but really glad we were able to experience such great vibes and food. (Note: they play great reggae music)
