3.5 stars. The restaurant has an inviting environment: a big open dining space with a small window to see the kitchen in action, lots of large windows for great lighting and a separate indoor play area for children. An ideal place for families or big groups.
The food there is alright, nothing spectacular. Their colorful Pizza Verdura (veggie pizza with eggplant, zucchini and peppers) was a highlight. The Vongole (clams) with tomato sauces and herbs served with garlic bread was offered as a special of the week when we went there recently. As tasty as the clams were, I felt like it would be better served with spaghetti instead of bread. The Italian classics panna cotta and tiramisu along with some homemade cakes and tarts are some of the options for dessert. We tried the mango cheesecake, which was surprisingly light but slightly stale especially with the mango sauce. The prices are on the higher end but not unreasonable.
Unfortunately for us, we had not-so-good services at La Sophia. One time we had a waiter on the first day on the job (slow albeit friendly), and another time, we had a waiter who was blasé. We asked some questions, and the waiter gave us very short responses that really didn't help us.
Overall, a nice location for families with decent food but mixed service. FYI Yelpers, a mobile check-in gets you a free espresso, but be prepared to explain what Yelp is to the staff (we had to do that both times when we were there). read more
