Salsa had no taste AT ALL it was missing everything, my girls omelet was missing sausage and bacon and still charged her the full amount, they forgot cheese on my surf and turf taco so I let the waiter know and he took my plate to correct it. I have been to the restaurant 1 time. Service was horribly slow. I walked in with my 2 young children as we noticed that there was only 1 other table being served. We took a seat and waited 44 minutes for our food to be served. We watched as the other table was served food and beer after beer. The waitress only came to our table 1 time. We ordered some fried seafood - calamari and I forget the other items. I mainly remembered the calamari because it was burnt to the crisp and a complete waste of my time and money. The local Mexican restaurant, I had to try it! My husband & I ordered: SMALL MOLCAJETE SINALOENSE - The small is more than enough to share for at least 2-3 people! It's super flavorful & filled with lots of seafood. We didn't care for the cactus itself but the flavor was all there. It was way too much cheese for my liking but if you're a cheese lover this has your name written all over it! It comes with your choice of corn or flour tortilla and rice. OCTOPUS TOSTADA - They definitely do not skimp on the octopus/ seafood! I couldn't even finish because there was so much. It was really fresh! It was my birthday and we were visiting San Diego. My gf and I wanted some mexican food and yelp recommended this place. It did not dissapoint. Slightly rainy day and cold weather, we arrived with plenty of seating available since it was a Monday late afternoon. Sat in the outside area, a wooden construct with a water fountain. Couple of curious birds flew in hoping for some nibbles. Pretty cute I would say. Gf ordered the Mojarra Frita and I got the Aguachile Appetizer. Also got a Michelada to go with the food. Less than 10 mins, food arrived, the waitress stated that because the tilapia was a bit small, they doubled it up for us. Wow! Thank you very much. The tilapia was extra crispy just like she likes it, the Aguachile was served in a molcajete and it was a very gracious portion. The tostada chips provided with the Aguachile was also extra crispy. No joke when I say that. I tried to break a piece and I punched a hole through it (picture proof). Now that is crispy and delicious complimenting the sourness of the shrimps. The waitress came by occasionally to check on us to make sure we were doing okay and if we needed anything else. Thumbs up for the great service! Very satisfied with the food and service. 4.5 this is really good Mexican, Sinaloense style!! The place is cute on the inside and kinda takes you to Mexico. The place gives you good chips & salsa to start things off. They also bring you this house soup which is delicious. My girlfriend & I ordered pozole & aquichiles. The pozole was really good, we both loved the rich flavors. The pozole bowls aren't as big as most restaurants but it is big enough. The aquichiles is huge, you can split it with multiple people. The aquichiles were also really good and definitely worth trying out if you like marinated shrimp with cucumbers & onions in a spicy green sauce. This vendor was at the Mariachi Festival I attended on Sunday. Since I wanted to try a variety of food items at this event, I decided to get some ceviche at this booth after having an arepa. The fish ceviche looked tasty, so I ordered that. It came with two tostadas and some spicy sauce (if preferred). The ceviche tasted great since I was still hungry, but after a while, the fish tasted weird. There wasn't much flavor after the sauce was gone and I ended up not finishing the rest. I'm a big fan of ceviche, so it was pretty disappointing for me. However, I loved the perfectly ripened avocado they added on top and the tostada was also fresh and crunchy. One party in particular was so loud and boisterous But it seems the staff and other patrons are used to this kind of action because most every other person in the room was staring stone-faced into their shrimp tacos. And this went over for the entire duration of a long dinner. On top of that, our server was quite attentive and kind at the start, but became quite absent after taking beer after beer with an adjacent table. The kicker was was going up front to pay and her saying she would, instead, come for the checks. We were already running late for another appointment, largely because we were having a difficult time getting her attention at that point in the evening. Verdict: I like what La Sinaloense has going. Mostly chill ambiance (thought the music and music videos playing are entirely too loud) with a covered patio and faux fire pit. And most of the team members are attentive and helpful. Also the tostadas are Off the charts with the aguachile which is a shrimp ceviche that is Mexican Raw shrimp in a flavorful cilantro Chile sauce but I wish the shrimp was chopped like at Karina's bc the whole Raw shrimp is tough To mentally process.. haha. Also the mixed seafood tostada was delicious with octopus, shrimp,scallops and unfortunately some surimi fake crab which we are not fans of but overall excellent and I think only 8 bucks :.. a ridiculous steal!! Once we opened the take out box the portion seems way to small for $30 worth. As I started digging in we found a hair. I called the place and I had to drive back to get my refund. My third time having authentic mariscos ... and this little place with the big patio was very traditional. I love shrimp and I wish I knew all the preparations so I could've ordered something more interesting. I was too shy to keep asking questions of our server. Definitely will study up for next time. Some items don't have prices, and if it's only 2 people it's important because the mocajete was giant. I've never had one and I loved the grilled shrimp and flour tortillas, however the carne was a bit fatty and chicken not very flavorful. The fresh avocado and rice and beans were very nice accompaniment, fresh salsa was spicy but not overly hot. I wish the happy hour stuff was listed on the menu, so I could check out the specials. Music was super loud and fun, but hard to carry a conversation for me. Our tacos were great, shrimp and fish classics at a very reasonable price. I was expecting more because of the great reviews. Or not sure if the Chula Vista location is better. Found this place on Yelp & decided to drive out to it. I had the mojarra frita plate. Looked great but was dry so I asked for side of butter, it made it better. My flour tortilla on the side for the plate was toasted & stale. The beans were salty not sure if they are always like that & honestly tasted like they were canned beans or sitting in the fridge for at least 3 days. The tortilla bowl the beans are served in was very stale as well. Husband had the shrimp molcajete agua chile. Our bill came out to $51. It was an early lunch, We ordered two sodas, 1 mojarra frita which was just $12 & 1 molcajete. So assuming molcajete must have been $28+. If the food only tasted as great as it looked maybe that's why I think Molcajete definitely not worth $28+ for quality of food we got. The service was nice which is why I give them 3 stars. This location is a hole in a wall place but we don't mind going out of our comfort zone to get great traditional yummy food. We were willing to try because usually it is the holes in the wall places that will serve you great home cook quality traditional dishes. But this wasn't it. Pro: I will start off with pros because I've had their food in the past. It was good so I decided to come back, BUT after this last time I'm not so sure I will. Cons: We ordered TWO tacos and 1 Birria consume at 12:52.....we got our food at 1:40. Basically took almost an hour for two tacos, when they told us it would only take 30 MINUTES!! I wouldn't have been too upset because hey things happen. But they basically threw some tortillas and shrimp in a box and gave it to us. Save your time and eat somewhere else. For starters the waitress was just not happy to be working there ( tallest girl with dark hair). Second the reviews say there have been several mystery charges on their cards. Now let's get to the food. The food was average for the most part. Aguachiles were NOT good. They tasted raw, hot, and chewy. I ordered TWO $28 each! I was not happy with a $56 crappy meal. I told the waitress and she argued back that that is what aguachiles are. You apply lemon and they are instantly made... not true. It's just like ceviche. It needs to sit a little in the lemon juice to cook. I am a big seafood eater. She said she would only remove 1 only so here I am paying $28 for something I didn't even eat. I never post reviews but felt the need to because of the waitress.
