Love in a cup. Cafe de ollla
John A.

Always a great experience, the food is amazing very flavorful. The staff is attentive and helpful if you are unsure of what you want. The salsa is always fresh. The vibe is always like home. Definitely want to come by on a Saturday take part in Karaoke at 7pm. Best to have reservations as we were in luck and beat the Sunday rush.

Shrimp cocktail
Emmanuel P.

If you want a spicy cocktail or one that has at least some lemon flavor to it. This is not the one. Very bland taste. I asked the girl who gave it to me if it came with chile or salsas and she said it had everything packed already. I opened it and it's just ketchup and mayonnaise lol. Don't recommend this place to go, maybe dining in is a better experience.

Chicken fajita plate

The chicken fajita plate is really good, it was very tasty, and filling. No complaints on the service, food or the atmosphere.

Bomb steak platter.

Rating is solely due to SERVICE that we received. This was my first time coming here. We came here for a birthday celebration & I believe it was karaoke night. Amazing live singers, but it was SO obnoxiously loud I couldn't even hear my husband who was sitting right NEXT to me. They have their own private lot which was great because I try avoiding anywhere that has bad parking situations or overly crowded. It was somewhat a full house. Our party being the biggest group. I ordered a steak platter. Don't get me wrong, my food was great! I ordered it medium well & it was cooked to perfection. Flavorful, just chef's kiss. It also came with nopal, tortillas, a spoon of guac (literally 1 spoon), hella pico, panela, frijoles, & some fire papas. The papas had cheese & bacon. Soooo delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better dish. & honestly, wished our experience was better so I could continue to support this local business. THE DOWNFALL - To begin, again, the music... Couldn't even hear my own thoughts. When the waiter was asking for my order I told her, "I can't hear you." She had the NASTIEST attitude & it showed. It was an older blondish curly haired lady. Not my goddamn fault you guys have everything on volume 100. She proceeded to point to her electronic ordering system while rolling her eyes. I literally ordered it on the system myself. When we went in, we asked if the bill could be split PRIOR to ordering anything & they said YES. Cool, easier for everyone. After they were so unorganized & obviously did NOT know how to handle a large party, they got orders confused & ended up putting everything on ONE bill. They proceeded to later tell us we could not pay separately making it even more complicated when they already seemed to be flustered. Keep in mind, this was AFTER they told us we could split the bill by parties. While looking at the receipt, there were items that no one ordered being charged. We spent 30mins trying to figure out the bill. Had they done what they originally said they were, it would've been a breeze. They ended up willing to split everyone's bill per party, therefore making things even WORSE. Because they did not know who ordered what. My husband & I shared the steak platter, a jamiaca, & two micheladas. Our bill came out to no more than $70. We were first in line to pay; my husband gave them cash & they did not tender any change. IT IS NOT UP TO YOU TO DECIDE HOW MUCH WE WANT TO TIP BY KEEPING OUR CHANGE. If they were concerned about tip, they should have their own policies about large parties, gratuities, & enforcing split bills. My husband didn't say anything & I was outside because everything was giving me a headache. Had I been inside I would've asked for it back myself. But my husband let it go. Whatever, if they need it more than us. Lol. That's why you get paid hourly & it's not a requirement to tip. Although we always do, even if service is SHITTY. But again, not up to a waiter to decide. If you don't like your job or rely solely on tips, find a different job paying more! Once we paid, we stood outside in the parking lot waiting for the rest of our party. I'm not sure what happened after we went outside since we were the first to pay - but the other black-haired waitress, also older shouted profanities outside to us while inside the restaurant & we were standing in parking lot. Couldn't hear her clearly to make out what she said. Loved the food but not somewhere I'd be willing to spend money at after the horrible experience. BAD SERVICE, RUDE WAITERS, NASTY ATTITUDES, UNORGANIZED. DO NOT RECOMMEND & WOULD NEVER COME BACK.

Costa azul is super delicious
Marcos N.

From the moment you walk into this place the customer service is amazing. The chips and salsa are delicious I ordered the costa azul because I haven't found a place here In San Diego with good ones. Well I found the right place. This place is super good and the restaurant is super clean and a really nice family feel. Great job and I'll definitely be back.

Taco and enchilada combination plate.
Patti F.

Guests are greeted as they step into restaurant, and seated with menus, chips and delicious salsa. My mom an I shared a taco and enchilada combination plate. Bothe of us were served a noodle and tomato based soup to start. When entree arrived, extra plates and utensils were brought too. Our plate included beans, rice, nopales, guacamole and large taco and enchilada. Taco had at least 6 shrimp and enchilada was loaded with cheese and had a delicious sauce.

Shrimp with bacon
Asilem C.

Very good food. Thank you for the great experience. The food was delicious. I have only tried that dish at home and not quite trusted outside restaurants to make shrimp with bacon. But this wasn't the exception I had to try it. And it was worth it! Thank you!!

El viejon tostada
Angelica R.

First time here and I gotta say the seafood we ordered was delicious! The tostada el viejon, campechana and mojara frita was very good! Restaurant is clean. Waitresses were kind, great service.

Filete a La Veracruzana

Food was very good. Their menu is mostly seafood which we enjoyed. Service was okay, one young man seemed confused by our questions however a more experienced server was extremely helpful. Overall, our experience was lovely and we will return.

Molcajete
Albert C.

Nice little spot located on Broadway in Chula Vista serving authentic Sinaloa style food. We had the molcajete for 2 people and it was enough food for 3+. Server was very nice and fast.

Just be more patient and mindful that they're doing the best they can Food 5/5 -mixed(surtido) and cheek(cachete) tacos, meat is TENDER. I honestly can't taste the difference between the two, I just knew I wanted to keep eating them(even after eating 3). Sturdy tortillas so the tacos weren't falling apart as I was eating, I also really liked that each table had two squeeze bottles of salsa, so convenient -orden/order, if you come here, you have to order this soup with the head meat. It's the essence that sums up the restaurant, it's a little peppery with the sweetness from the diced onions and meaty goodness. It comes with about 4 tortillas and there's a lot of meat in the soup to be made into more tacos Ambiance 5/5 -restaurant was full of people eating food happily(obviously the food was delicious) and there was a guy that sang for donations and vendors that came through selling trinkets, just a mixing pot of life and happy place to eat

You have to try this place!…read more It's one of my family's favorite seafood spots. I've had the pulpo tostada and taco multiple times and they're always amazing, super fresh and never overcooked. I usually get the macho sauce on the side so I can spice it up to my level lol. My family has also tried the tuna tostada, micheladas, chilaquiles, and even Dino nuggets for the kids, everything has been consistently great every time we go. The service is always on point, the ambiance is nice, and it's in a great central location. We usually stop by Wood Market afterward to grab a few things. Highly recommend! definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to. Also, shoutout to the Convoy location, it's just as good!

Even though we were a bit late for the breakfast menu, they still let us order the Smoked fish, Gobernador, and Pork Belly-quiles. I loved the flavors, and it had just the right amount of spice I prefer. I also had a Mango-rita that snuck up on me in a good way. We each tried all three plates, and all agreed they were sumptuous. Everyone running the restaurant was super friendly and accommodating to special diet needs as well. I'm glad we tried this establishment. It was quite busy that day, but there was still plenty of parking, and they had booths to sit and enjoy the experience. Portions were large - we all had leftovers to take home. I would love to come back and try more of the menu!

And I'm not kidding when I say that the fish is HUGE! I usually order it on a flour tortilla and the fish practically fills up the length of the tortilla. We chose El Pueblo to celebrate my husband's birthday and were really looking forward to trying it…read more- but unfortunately, it ended up being a stressful experience for us. From the moment we walked in, the environment felt chaotic. There were long lines everywhere just to place an order, and no hostess or server to help seat you or explain how things worked. You order at a kiosk, which might work in some settings, but it didn't feel organized here. Two out of our three meals came out completely wrong. My daughter ordered a very simple taco (beef and cheese only, no onion or tomatoes), and the first one was incorrect. After waiting in another long line to fix it, the replacement came out as potatoes and lettuce only. At that point, it just felt exhausting. My husband's protein bowl also included ingredients he specifically asked to leave off. We also had to stand in separate lines for drinks... and then realized we had to get back in line again just to order water. For a family dinner -- especially a birthday -- it felt unnecessarily complicated and frustrating. My enchiladas were cooked correctly but much spicier than expected for my mild taste buds (hence all the water runs). That said, I will give credit where it's due -- the drinks were excellent. If you're going just to grab cocktails and sit at the bar, I could see this being a fun spot. The bar vibe seemed lively, and the drinks were genuinely well made. Overall, the food might work for some, but the disorganized setup and repeated order mistakes made it a birthday bust for us.
