I've gone to Pat, the owner, for color, twice and both times I had to go back to have him "fix" my hair. I say "fix" in quotations because once he messed up there was really no fix. Both times I didn't get what I asked for, wanted or paid a lot of money for. The first time he did a root touch-up and I chose a semi-permanent, dark-brown color. The only reason I color my hair is to hide the few, and I do mean very few grays I have. I'm a very dark brunette and I feel like the gray hair stands out. I asked the rude, receptionist/stylist that did my blow-dry if she could see any gray. She said no, but wasn't convincing. I should have inspected it myself before leaving. As stated, I already found her to be rude; I didn't appreciate being lied to by her as well. Needless to say, I left with gray hair. Remember, I don't even have that much gray to begin with, so covering it shouldn't have been all that hard! When I went back he put an almost black color on my roots. NOT what I wanted, asked for or paid for. It did however cover the gray. I have very fair skin; the black roots looked very harsh on me (very Goth, so not my look!). I'm not sure what's uglier, a few grays or nasty black roots. I traded one ugly look for another, except at a very high price ($), a lot of frustration and a lot of time wasted. Unfortunately I made the mistake of going back for all over color (from roots to ends). I showed Pat a picture of the color I wanted (a chocolate brown) and made him do a strand test (This shows my level of trust for him. I should have trusted my gut and walked away!). It was too dark, so I asked him to do it lighter all over. I ended up with light roots, dark hair, gray, once again and my old highlights were still showing, so it was COMPLETELY uneven! When I went back he wasn't even there AGAIN (he did this to me on my first visit, which I had forgotten about), and yes, I went back at the time he told me to! Once he finally showed up, he did cover my gray and almost all of my old highlights, but my roots are still really light compared to the rest of my hair AND the rest of my hair is very, very dark. It's not close to what I asked for, wanted or paid a lot of money for. I showed him a picture of the color. There was NO room for misunderstanding! The fact that my roots are still light after the second time he "fixed" it is unacceptable! I could not stay any longer to have him fix my roots yet again; I had to come home to watch my kids. To add insult to injury, when I got to the register I was charged for my blow-dry, which no one ever told me about. On my first visit I also got a blow-dry, but wasn't charged. Well, I guess you get a "complimentary" blow-dry only when you get a haircut. Could that be any more classless?! What lady wants to go to a salon to supposedly look better, only to walk out looking worse, like a wet rat? On top of it ALL, Erin didn't blow-dry my hair like I asked. I asked for a lot of volume and curls. She even interrupted me and said: "Oh, wavy?" I called it curls, she called it wavy, whatever....Point is, my hair is flat and ONLY the ends are curled in. Normally I would not have complained about my blow-dry, but if I'm going to pay for it, it better be done exactly the way I ask! Remember this was the second time I went in for color; my fourth visit because Pat messed up my color both times. How on earth was I supposed to see if he got my color right or wrong that time, unless it was dried? I could not believe he had the nerve to charge me for that! Do you think I got even a dollar off for HIS multiple mistakes? The total hours WASTED at the salon were 4 and 1/2 hours! The more time I spent there, the more I had to pay for parking! Regardless, no one wants to waste their time. If you think I'm just a bitter person; the only one complaining amongst all these great reviews, think again. Pat would not have redone my color for free if he hadn't messed it up both times, and Erin, his own employee, agreed with me and so did my husband, and no, my husband doesn't always agree with me. He will tell me when I'm not being rational. In this case, he's not blind. He saw the picture of the color I showed Pat and he also saw the end result. He's also upset because it cost us a lot of money, $100! The fact that I gave this salon and Pat himself, a second chance shows the kind of person I am, because I am sure at least some of you have questioned yourself as to why I would have gone back if this place is as bad as I am making it out to be. I really did try to overlook things (rude receptionist, dirty salon, bad location where you have to pay for parking, bad haircut by Pat - too short and different style), not to nick pick and I tried not to make things into a bigger deal then what they were, and I try to see the best in all situations and people, but enough is enough with this place!!! read more
