    Heaven!
    Bill S.

I just had dinner and I'm driving back to my hotel. As I was driving I said to myself I could go for a little somethin' somethin'. Ice Cream? Nah. Something... then like a vision of light I see La Rosa's Bakery. I said to myself, see? Santa hears all and I've been good all year! Walking it, the Italian bakery smell is intoxicating. So many items to choose but I keep it simple: single espresso and one cannoli. First bite, the shell is a little soft. I accept it because it's almost 7pm and they're just about to close. The ricotta sweet filling is really really good. A man comes from the back and we start talking. I tell him I'm just passing thru everything was really good. If you're in the area, stop by La Rosa's bakery for some amazing Italian pastries.

    So many choices!!

This bakery was recommended to us from friends in Colorado and I was so excited to visit when we were on vacation. It is huge with SO MANY options! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. My husband loved his cannoli and I was beyond happy with my Italian butter cookies with sprinkles- wow! They have every New Jersey and New York specialty you could be looking for. We were given a free loaf of bread which was a pleasant surprise and we actually ate that instead of the breakfast provided by our hotel each morning! the young woman working didn't know answers to some of our questions but that was ok. We loved this place.

My italian christmas goodies are here

Today my boxes from LaRosa's arrived. I opened the first one which was a beautiful green tin with a pine sprig on it. Inside the tin were the most delicious, freshest italian christmas cookies! I grabbed the one topped with shaved almonds and with one bite I was in marzipan heaven! The cookie was moist, chewy and delicious! I saw a broken end of a cookie with chocolate and green sprinkles on it and ate that mighty quick. It too was fresh and crisp and scrumptious! There were what I thought were the candy coated jordan almonds and grabbed a blue one to find it was like a licorice but with a fainter taste. I am a fan! My second tin was cheery and red! Inside this cherry bomb was a tin FULL of struffoli!!! The same struffoli I grew up eating and remembering! It is a fried dough thats hard but not so hard you cant eat it or chew it. The texture is crispy and drizzled with honey and topped with the tiny candy balls that represent christmas to me! I personally couldnt stop eating them they were THAT fresh and good!!! They melted on my tongue! I live in florida and all my italian relatives are deceased so for me to order italian christmas cookies and struffoli from New Jersey was something I am so glad I did! Its funny I take weight off over the holidays but I dont know if thats going to be the case with these delicious cookies and that tempting struffoli all calling my name. Come eat us they hearken. I follow like the rat behind the pied piper. Thanks so much for bringing my italian roots and memories of christmas pasts back to me LaRosa's. Buon Natale from little Nancy! Happy Holidays to all! and to all a good BITE! These cookies are the best!! and so is the struffoli!

    A little white box - I wonder what's inside?

Horrible! Tried it a year ago and their Pignoli cookies and other cookies tasted like chemicals! Never went back.

Delicious! We enjoyed cappuccinos and mini cannolis. They hit the spot. We will definitely be back.

I was like a kid in a candy store. I love this store. I never been here before and my wife took me. They had a huge display of goodies.

During my first visit, they had a pop up from Mirah's Sweet Shoppe. During my second visit, there was a pop up from J. Bakes. Out the gate, I love that they give other local small businesses an opportunity to shine and generate revenue. If you follow The Baker's Grove on social media, you see that they post pictures of these beautiful pastries and pastry cakes weekly. If that's not enough to get you in your car and over to their bakery, I don't know what is. Not only are the pastries beautiful, they are delicious! They make a coconut cream doughnut that I am currently addicted to. Their key lime tart is delicious. One thing I will say is that if you get anything chocolate of theirs, make sure you're a true chocolate lover. I got a slice of the s'mores tart for myself and a slice of chocolate cake for my mom and one thing we agreed on is that both treats were very, very rich. On top of all this deliciousness, the service is usually friendly and efficient. Even with a line, they get you in and out swiftly. There's not much room to dine in, but it's definitely worth a stop by.

That spoke volumes to the quality and the success they are having!!! I was hoping to try the chocolate cake but the chocolate cake was actually sold out so I opted for the S'mores tart and the Ube cheesecake. Let's dive into the details: the crust on both of these desserts are delicious and seemingly identical but they shine differently as they pair with the other ingredients in their recipe. The S'mores tart was rich in chocolate, with a toasted marshmallow topping. The cheesecake was big enough to share and also had some beautiful elements such as the toasted coconut, and the creamy whipped topping. Their service was fast and the line moved quickly. I loved the big display window giving a visual to the hard work happening in their kitchen too, a nice personal touch indeed! The location is perfect, there is a private parking lot shared with other surrounding businesses and there's patio seating.

I received friendly and lighthearted service from the man who took my order. One thing that I thought was pretty cool and have never seen before was a "color wheel" for coffee. It was a visual way to show your preferences on what your preferences are on coffee appearance once the milk is added. My chicken salad sandwich was delicious, not too filling and made on very soft enjoyable bread. Room for improvement: Maybe because I stopped in at 1 pm on a Wednesday I felt like the seating area was poorly maintained. The floor really needed to be swept so it actually felt like of dirty sitting there eatting. There were a handful of people spread out with their laptops etc. One person was actively taking a call so it felt like you at work with them. Another had a small dog that she was carrying around people eatting while the leash/harness laid on the floor near her table. I'm all for dogs being allowed to be in eateries but the whole sit in experience felt dirty for me (especially based on the price I paid) and wouldn't be something I'd repeat. Long story short, the customer service while ordering is great but take your order to go.
