Took advantage of La Rosa's anniversary sale and purchased some butter cookies with Jelly. Good cookie. Service was great Nice store with a tremendous selection of pastries, cookies, and cakes. The store is clean and they had samples on the day I visited. Parking available in front of the store. Worst case there is a supermarket across the street with a large parking lot. Having lived here all my life it has been crazy to see the downside. They were always known as a mid but ok in a pinch bakery, not great but not terrible, but the last time I went, the cookies were actually STALE and a pastry had a hair in it. The girl at the counter was so unbelievably rude, and she actually seemed afraid of something? This bakery was recommended to us from friends in Colorado and I was so excited to visit when we were on vacation. It is huge with SO MANY options! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. My husband loved his cannoli and I was beyond happy with my Italian butter cookies with sprinkles- wow! They have every New Jersey and New York specialty you could be looking for. We were given a free loaf of bread which was a pleasant surprise and we actually ate that instead of the breakfast provided by our hotel each morning! the young woman working didn't know answers to some of our questions but that was ok. With the addition of new counter staff, this full line bakery has improved even more. I love the huge selection of items. Shops like this are gone from the NYC region mostly. The wholesale operation supports the big counter. Not a french bakery fancy place, nor a too sweet mexican style place, this old school bakery makes solid stuff and lots of italian specialities. This is got to be the most egregious establishment in the area. My wife went in on this past Saturday 8/2/25 at about 13:00 to buy some Italian pastries and brownies. She ended up spending $105.00 which was awfully high, considering the amount of items she ended up with. To get to the point the woman there was obnoxiously rude. My wife who is always pleasant to everyone, asked could you please cut the brownies again, because we are going to a party where small children would be. Cutting them would make it a lot easier for them to handle. The woman looked at her as if she had 2 heads and said absolutely NOT, in those words. How abhorrent of her to say that to her. First of all that woman should not be in a Customer Service establishment if she's gonna have an attitude like that, my wife swore as she'll never go in there again, and I also will concur. I hope the owner of the establishment gets to read this and correct the problem as needed. Besides their pastries are not half as good as another establishment in Long branch. My wife should've went there instead spending the extra half hour travel, but she was in a hurry to get back to the party. We stopped by the bakery, for the second time to date. When we walked in it smelled delicious, as if you could eat everything in site. We ordered a few different types of cookies and a couple small pastry cakes. When we got in our car, we tried a sprinkle cookie - it tasted like poison. As if we took a bite of chemically enhanced sprinkles. After dinner at our friends house, we crossed our fingers about the rest of the desserts we had purchased, and to what a disappointment. The seven layers were OLD and stale, the S cookies were hard as a rock, and the pastry cakes were dry. Our friend then took out seven layer cookies from livotis that they had froze a few weeks ago.. and wow, the difference was incredible. But What a disappointment with La Rosa. Shrewsbury, red bank and lincroft are in desperate need of a great Italian bakery, and this place is far from it. Don't waste your money or time! read more

Today my boxes from LaRosa's arrived. I opened the first one which was a beautiful green tin with a pine sprig on it. Inside the tin were the most delicious, freshest italian christmas cookies! I grabbed the one topped with shaved almonds and with one bite I was in marzipan heaven! The cookie was moist, chewy and delicious! I saw a broken end of a cookie with chocolate and green sprinkles on it and ate that mighty quick. It too was fresh and crisp and scrumptious! There were what I thought were the candy coated jordan almonds and grabbed a blue one to find it was like a licorice but with a fainter taste. I am a fan! My second tin was cheery and red! Inside this cherry bomb was a tin FULL of struffoli!!! The same struffoli I grew up eating and remembering! It is a fried dough thats hard but not so hard you cant eat it or chew it. The texture is crispy and drizzled with honey and topped with the tiny candy balls that represent christmas to me! I personally couldnt stop eating them they were THAT fresh and good!!! They melted on my tongue! I live in florida and all my italian relatives are deceased so for me to order italian christmas cookies and struffoli from New Jersey was something I am so glad I did! Its funny I take weight off over the holidays but I dont know if thats going to be the case with these delicious cookies and that tempting struffoli all calling my name. Come eat us they hearken. First time here & it was highly recommended. I have to say I'm extremely disappointed not by the pastry's but by the young woman employee who assisted me. She was extremely rude and not trying to help me. She even asked me "if I could read" the signs that are displayed. Extremely rude and unprofessional. As a business, this is a hot mess. This story is a sample of several experiences I've had with them in recent years. A year ago I ordered cookies to be delivered to relatives down south for Thanksgiving over the phone, and it was a painfully awkward process. At the end of the call, the woman I talked to said it's better to come into the store to place such orders. But I placed the order, the cookies were delivered, and they were good. Fast forward to this year. Today I visited the store to place an order for delivery for this Thanksgiving. Although I was the only customer in the store, rather than taking my order, the woman behind the counter suggested that the best way to do that was online on their web site! Odd. So I drove home and went online to their web site to try to place an order. Although it was a clearly outdated and poorly built web site, I went as far as I could in the order process but was unable to complete it, since their web site would not allow me to enter the date I want the order delivered. So I gave up and Googled other bakeries that deliver, found several in NYC, and ordered the cookies from a big famous NYC bakery with a fantastic easy to use web site. The cost including shipping was about the same as LaRosa's. La Rosa's would do well to ask Marcus Lemonis to take a hard look at how they run their business. Until then, they won't be seeing any more business from me. read more

One of the worst bakeries I have been to - and NY/NJ has no shortage! The stale, gross ass key lime pie is bright green and tastes just like the food coloring. Even the "carpuccino" (dumbass owner can't even spell correctly) was cold by the time I got it. Do yourself a favor and go to Alfonso's instead! my family and I have been going there for decades. They have delicious cookies and FRESH cakes (especially the cheesecake)!!! read more

This past weekend my husband purchased several pastries from LaRosa. One was a chocolate custard filled lobster tail. I got a chance to try it this morning and, like another reviewer from a four months ago stated, it tasted like poison... I couldn't place the taste; I wasn't sure if it was ammonia or bug spray, or if a rubber spatula melted when they were cooking the pudding or If it was a preservative, they added intentionally... I even decided I was going to save the other half that I didn't throw away and bring it to them and ask them what the chemical was and is it safe. I came onto Yelp To see if anyone else had the same issue and lo and behold I found that when I sorted by the newest review first, the second review mentioned the same issue. So I'm in the bakery today wanting to buy cookies. Realized they had a sign posted that says Credit Card minimum $10. Fine,I get that. Didn't want $10 worth of cookies so I checked my wallet for cash. Had $2 in there. I stopped in here last Friday morning to grab a few pastries to bring to a friends house and to taste test as I was looking for a good local bakery to help me design my daughter's engagement party cake. The girl behind the counter literally went out of her way to treat me like she was bothered that I was there (I was the ONLY one there) and could not have been more rude. She was flippant and combative. Sadly for the owner, the pastries were lovely and enjoyed by all, BUT, the employee ensured I will never return. I've been to this bakery a couple of times, and unfortunately most of the items have such a refrigerated taste they couldn't be enjoyed. I'm not sure if they were stale or so refrigerated that it made them taste stale. The last purchase I was really excited to purchase the St Joseph's pastry because the lady behind the counter said it was just made that day, but it was so refrigerated tasting it made taste tough and dried out. The same thing with the eclair it was so refrigerated that the whole top layer of icing just fell off after taking one bite. I asked my mom who is an expert in Italian pastries preparation, and she said it could of been made that day, but the pastry dough they use to make the pastry is being made long ago, and that it is being refrigerated way too long prior to baking. Another item I was disappointed in was the two cookies with peanut butter in between. The peanut butter was delicious, but the cookies were bland, tasteless, and hard. The brownie I had was ok, but the best item which I did enjoy was the peanut butter layer cake. That was delicious. It's a really nice bakery inside, and the people that work there are really nice. My mom feels the same way I do about their Italian pastries that they are too refrigerated tasting making them taste stale because they are getting dried out from refrigerating the pastry dough way too long. Hopefully, they can improve this, and maybe down the line I'll give them another chance. For now my recommendation is to skip this place! read more

Fantastic 4+ generation bakery my daughter and I stopped at during our trip to Atlantic city for a sporting event. I had the Tiramisu cup an espresso and my daughter had an Elmo cookie and a milk. It was the perfect spot to stop after driving for over 5 yrs. They were very busy and well staffed enough to talk with us at our table. Judging from the people that came in they have a high return rate and their pastries were to die for! I wish I had an emptier stomach as I wanted to try everything! Everything was very fresh and the bakery was impeccably clean and organized! I would absolutely become back if I m in the area again. Thanks for the fun and delicious food! read more

We custom ordered a birthday cake for my birthday, and it was excellent. Super moist, the French buttercream was like a cloud, and the cake actually tastes like chocolate! Rude and disrespectful owner... just lost a customer of many years! I came this afternoon with my newly turned 4 and 6 year olds to pick out a treat for their birthdays. I grew up in the area and have bought cakes and pastries here for years, cookies as favors for showers I've hosted, teacher gifts, cannoli platters, and more plastic ducks than I care to count. Well, today I had the pleasure of having a face-to-face with the owner and have decided that I am NEVER going back. After a painful ordering experience with the girl behind the counter that I won't even get into here, I sat down with my mom and two kids to eat some of our $30 worth of purchases. As we finished and I was bent over wiping the floor and table of my son's cupcake crumbs (already having wiped his hands and face I might add ) I hear, "EXCUUUUSE ME! EXCUSE ME! UMM EXCUSE ME!!!" coming from the man at the table next to us that was sitting with two women. My mom and I realized after the last EXCUSE ME that this man was not actually joking, that he was yelling at my kid. My literally just turned 4 year old was looking at the end of the cake display and rubbing his hands on the glass. He was not yelling, not running, just looking happily at cakes. No icing was left on the display from the cupcake we had just purchased- it was just fingerprints - not like that even matters. My mom went over to grab my son's hand to which we got a rude "Thank you, Mom" as in "Control your brats, lady". I was shocked to learn upon asking what my son did that was so wrong that this man was the OWNER. I just spent $30 at your bakery and my preschooler gets yelled at about fingerprints on one section of the glass. I explained that I was cleaning the table as this all happened to which he replied "as you should!", continuing to add how that is the respectful thing to do in someone's place and how my son's actions were not. The owner stated that he would clean up after himself in my place too. I replied that I am not an octopus and reminded him that we are paying customers. My son literally just got up from eating a cupcake purchased in his bakery and he's upset with us over touching the glass. This place serves Sesame Street cupcakes but obviously does not like kids. They just lost an extended family of customers over a loud mouth and a couple sprays of Windex. read more

I didn't see the businesses pop up the first time on my first yelp search for a bakery by Red Bank, so I added it, but apparently there was one already! Can't say anything bad about about this place. Seems like a bakery that's been in business for years serving up Italian pastries, breads, and cookies. I only came in to pick up cookies for work and the place was pretty busy! Instead of picking cookies behind the counter, I decided to get the pre-made baskets for convenience. They have a huge variety of cookies, breakfast pastries, cakes, breads, cupcakes, & Italian pastries. Employees were very friendly and chatty with the customers. I tried a couple of cookies I purchased and they were very delicious! Only negative was the basket of cookies were expensive, but no more than other places.
