We stopped in here while passing through town and found it through yelp reviews. Thank you yelpers! This place did not disappoint. Great food! My husband ordered one of their signature platters and I ordered the chicken fajitas. Everything was seasoned and cooked amazingly! It was all served hot and steaming to the table. The sides of bean and rice were even flavorful and yummy. Nothing on our plates was disappointing. Our server was friendly and attentive. We received extra tortillas quickly when requested and had our drinks refilled promptly during our meal. The staff is wearing masks while serving and they are somewhat spacing guest out in each area. We love Mexican food and this place topped the list of good spots! We'll definitely stop in here again someday when we pass through. read more

Been here a few times hoping it would improve but it never does. This time there was a pretty big piece of broken porcelain in the salsa they brought out. I addressed with server and not even an apology! They have never been friendly and food has just been ok. Wouldn't waste your time. There are so many better Mexican restaurants in Albany. read more

Still my favorite in Albany. Tonight I had the enchilada camaron, enchilada's with yummy flavorful shrimp with green sauce and delicious rice and beans. Service was great. Also enjoyed a mangonada margarita, was very good. They were pretty busy for a Monday night. My Husband and I like to try other mexican restaurants in the area but they don't really compare, except mexican food trucks they are comparable. Made a high risk drop-in visit last night for nachos and margaritas. There were some sketchy reviews but we had a good experience. We had the Super nachos and a Mexican pizza. Very good and respectable portions. The drinks were excellent. The wife had a spicy mango margarita and I had the waitress recommended red neck margarita. It's basically a house margarita but larger. I was pleasantly surprised to see the mix wasn't some store bought acid sour concoction. They used a nice silver tequila that you could actually taste. No bottom shelf trash. We also sat outside on their covered patio. The salsa was served in a dish that resembled a thimble. Thankful they brought another thimble of salsa without an extra charge. The dining room had an amazing smell as we walked through to the patio. All in all a solid 4 star visit in Albany. We'll be back for entrees next time. Cheers! read more

My wife and I went to this restaurant after seeing it for several years and passing it by. We thought that it was time to visit it. From the moment we opened the door, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The menu was pretty common for Mexican Restaurants. The waitress was very helpful in answering our questions and taking our orders. The food was very good. We were both pleasantly surprised as we tried several Mexican Restaurants in the surrounding area and were disappointed. The food was great. The service was great. Even the young man who gathered the used dishes and eating utensils did so just as we were finishing the last bite so we could sign the receipt with nothing in the way. We walked thru the door to a friendly greeting. As we were walked to our table I was taken aback by incredibly colorful & vibrant dining area. There is an incredible mural painted on one wall. Great people, great service, great food. Get the Chile Verde or Chile Colorado (my favorites), or try the table side guacamole if that's your thing. Lots of traditional Mexican dishes to be had on the menu, and if you have kids who are picky, they have North American fare, as well: burgers and fries if you need them. I don't typically go to Mexican American restaurants as I always over eat and feel bloated for days afterwards.. but this one is very close to my house and the food is pretty good. It won't beat any taco truck for sure, but the food is still good. I get the fajitas.. the margaritas are good. I have had the El Jefe marg and regular. The waiters are always very nice. Couldn't ask for better service really. My mom asked for a spicy margarita and it came out a little bit too spicy for her... they took it back and made her something else with no hesitation. I'll probably be back here, I love their outside seating in the summer. I feel like very few places have that in Albany. read more

2 stars because they have good food, the servers are great. The owner on the other hand is rude. I have had multiple encounters with him and he was rude to his employees and to guests. I can tell his poor employees are afraid of him. I asked for a 2oz cup for to go salsa with my left overs and the poor server clearly felt bad and embarrassed, he looked over to the owner then back to me and said he can't do that. I have dined in Mexican restaurants from the Texas border to Florida. This one stands out in my mind as a must stop. The service was on par with the most expensive restaurants I have visited. The establishment is clean and well maintained. The staff managed to maintain a high level of professionalism without coming across as haughty (and in my opinion that is a difficult task). So the bottom line is low prices and great food served in a down to earth setting. Would I celebrate my 50th anniversary there? New to the area, my quest for Mexican food to suit me got off to a slow start. My first visit to La Roca left me slightly unimpressed. My mission-style vegetarian burrito was a little too sweet. (I like guacamole but in moderation). The rice, cheese, and the pinto beans did not seem to be in the right ratios for my tastes. And, well, pinto beans are just not my favorite. The response to my special requests and the low price garner this local business four stars. Whether via phone for carry out or at a table in the restaurant, the staff treat my requests as routine and welcome. The food is of high quality, hot and tasty. Portions are generous and the cost is about what you'd pay at a Baja Fresh or similar fast food Mexican chain but with the option of higher end platters. read more
