We were told on hole 16 that they are tearing out all the grass on the back nine. Never got a discount either. The design itself is terrible. Tons of blind shots and weird layups. Would never play here again. The entire course is also just abandoned homes and chain link fences. Looks like a ghost town

We were stopped at the turn and told we had to skip two holes due to complaints from the group behind that we were holding up play. The group behind was our friends who hadn't complained or waited for us all day. Instead of a reasonable conversation, the marshal informed us that we obviously don't play much (I was 2 over) and we didn't have a choice. As we drove down the 10th, we could see the group behind still playing approach shots to the 9th, and the group behind that wasn't even on the 9th yet. He led us to the twelfth hole, where there was a backup and we waited for every shot for the remainder of the round. I've never encountered a course employee with this type of attitude, let alone expecting it when paying this much to play.

This set of holes has to be the prettiest I have seen, as of yet. Traditions course is expansive and very well laid out. The greens are very well kept, as are the grounds around it. The houses that have been built into the course are massive as well as beautiful, boasting equally as scenic views from virtually everywhere. My favorite part of this course has to be the 17th, it is not for the faint of heart or those who lose their balance easily. The climb up is steep and rocky, and a bit scary on the way down as well. Once at the top, you will see what I am speaking of, a grand seemingly endless view of the not only the course but of the vast San Jacinto Mountains, and the valleys between the ranges. Is there a better way to spend a beautiful summer like afternoon in March? I sure can't think of anything. Except maybe to follow up a nice game with an old fashioned or two. Which is exactly what we did, on the lovely patio in the club house. Which provided more wonderful views for our party to enjoy while relaxing. If the opportunity presents itself I would love to make a return visit. Next time I hope I have the set of Taylormade's I have had my eye on.

I can see why people want to live here. All of the employees were extremely friendly and helpful. One even told us to have a blessed evening . The concert was amazing but I felt sorry for the singer because it was windy and the air is dry here. Not a got for singing. We had a lovely time and the concert was fantastic. We decided to walk back to the parking and it was about 2 miles but a much enjoyable walk.

The course was beautifully kept, greens were excellent and the marshall routinely checked up on us if we needed cold towels and water along with maintaining the pace of play. The staff was very helpful in getting me quickly to the tee box which I appreciated. My play was a little scrappy in the beginning but it took me a few holes to get used to the course. Overall the course was in mediocre condition specifically the fairways were tight and thin, and the greens were very scrappy and bumpy. There also were many dead/brown spots on almost all the greens. The course itself had a few scenic holes that played against the mountainside. For the price, I was not too surprised at the condition of the course. I could not find the Dunes course here so my review for it will go here. In the afternoon I played the Dunes course which was a flatter Pete Dye course running side by side to the Mountain course. Unfortunately the course was also in the same condition of the Mountain course. The only problem was the 120 degree F weather I had to contend with. I honestly lasted 16 holes before succumbing to the heat on the last two holes. In all honesty, I will probably spend more time on the three PGA West courses about 10 minutes further south, before considering these courses. Also the prices did match the quality of these courses.

I have played at some that are just as decent for $15 for 9 holes and replay is $8. So for almost $50 plus $15 for a cart it is a little expensive for what you get. With that being said they are building a large pro shop / restraunt. Maybe thats the justification for the higher fees. The starter/marshall was friendly and knowledgeable. There were some teens and some that maybe should stick to the range a few more times before they come to a course. I should have to wait to tee off so that you can take your 3rd shot from the middle of my fairway and be pointed backwars back to your hole. All the holes are par 3, so its fairly quick. Took three of us about 2 hrs 20 min and thats with having to wait for a group in front of us to pick it up. The greens are decent and challenging. If you go in the middle of the day its not as busy. Our tee time was 4:40 and the course was pretty empty but as we finished the front 9 it was getting busy and by the time we finished the 18th it was packed. It was fun but for the price we can find PGA level courses closer to us.

What stood out the most though was the incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I want to give a particularly big thank you to the director of food and beverage, Keith Sansone. He helped me with something that was incredibly gracious and kind of him, he went above and beyond what you'd expect from most golf resorts. There are many many properties out in the Palm Springs Palm Desert area. I've played at almost all of them. Desert Willow hands-down has the best team of people working and supporting their operations. And as anybody could probably tell you, kind, friendly, and attentive staff make all of the difference in having a mediocre experience or having an absolutely fantastic experience.
