I'd seen this place in passing about a week ago and was taken by the clean and chic design as well as the abundance of polishes. I went in as a walk-in today because their number wasn't posted on their Yelp or Facebook pages which I'd consider the first mistake. When I walked in they weren't busy, but occupied. I told them I was there for a pedicure and they instructed me to choose my color. I took my time so as not to rush them and made my way to my chair. Friendly enough up to that point. After 10 minutes of waiting, I asked politely how long the wait would be and they said 25 (more) minutes. That was mistake #2. If the wait is longer than 10 minutes you should tell a customer as a courtesy-not wait to be asked. #3 they paired me with a girl who looked young enough to be a teenager and it was obvious from the jump she has very little experience. She also spoke very little English. If you're going to be in a service-related position it's useful and only fair to speak enough of the language to understand what the customer wants. I say this because I asked her "not too short" with my nails, she said "ok" and then cut them short anyways. She also kept scraping my skin with the buffer #4. It was noticeably irritated, but she seemed oblivious to it. Then #5 she cut the side of my big toe with the callus scraper. There was blood. Why she was even going over that part of my foot with it is beyond me, but again, this is why it was obvious she was inexperienced. She said sorry, laughed it off and continued. The worst part was the paint job. She redid my big toe, not once but twice, after sitting me down at the drying station. This was not because I demanded it, but because I pointed out how the paint job wasn't smooth at all. It wasn't smooth because she was all over the place instead of doing simple, sensible line strokes with enough paint on the brush. I waited a while for them to dry. I thought someone would come to assist or see me off because that would've been the appropriate thing to do considering all the inconveniences I was patient for, but no. I tried asking the girl for assurance on whether they were dry enough for me to leave and she proceeded to wrap them in plastic wrap, but again in a careless way that would've definitely caused imprints on my toes if I left them. At this point I'd been frustrated enough to let her know I was fed up with being a guinea pig client. Def didn't understand me, but that's exactly what it felt like. I took off the plastic wrap immediately and one of the women I probably should have been paired with instead stepped in to assist. When I got home and checked my toes, creases. Needless to say, I will not be returning, but word of advice to the business owner, it is not acceptable to have paying customers be practice for your unskilled, unmindful, young staff. You should be monitoring the quality of their work until it's acceptable. This was the crappiest nail experience I've had in forever. I'm at least thankful for that. read more
