I suspect that I had put my cake loving years behind me. Until I found Cakes Castle and had to order a cake for a pal's birthday. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. An exceptional cake all around - incredibly moist and not overly sweet. Perfectly frosted, not too much, not too little. When I was a kid and dreamt of good cake, I was dreaming about Cakes Castle. Highly recommend.

I asked for strawberries on my cake. She gave me horrible strawberries. They were mushy and Lil I would not support this business. This was the nastiest most overpriced cake I've ever received in my life, and I had the worst Customer Service. After telling the owner, how nasty the cake and the icing was icing was thicker than the cake. The cake was crumbling and falling apart. I could not even cut slices. I absolutely adore this Asian bakery. It's very bare bones, but proves that you don't need frills…read moreand kitsch to sell a good bakery item. Everything I've gotten from here has been a hit. It even has managed to impress friends who don't adventure too far outside of their own American culinary tastes. The sweets here are the perfect amount of sweet. The savory items also contain a perfect hint of sweetness that somehow ties it all together. I've even had a matcha (less sugar) made here and my God it was unexpectedly delicious. I usually spend about $20-ish and share my bag full of goodies with my folks. I love that you can get a lot with a little -- the dollar still stretches here! Sometimes their open hours are a bit off, as if been before during regular hours and they've been closed. I'll also add that the entrance can be confusing as Family Baking shares space or simply is owned by Rolls Village. None of this stops me from stopping by. The cherry on top is that the service is truly phenomenal. I love being greeted where I spend money, and the guy who frequently mans the cash register has such great energy. He's efficient as hell too! When I visited, he skipped through the tipping portion of the POS both times... so I'm not sure if they accept tips but I won't complain too much about that LOL. Go!!!

The rolls are priced around $2.50 each and were soft and fresh. I went with the red bean bun and taro bun. Both were buttery and delicious, although they could use a little more filling. The store is small so there is more limited options compared to the larger bakeries, but I love supporting a smaller business and they still have a nice variety.
