Very easy to find!

Good Mexican food and reasonably priced! We enjoyed our chicken tostadas salad along with their 'early bird' enchilada luncheon. Nice $9.99 deal options and both were nicely prepared. We certainly will return when we're in the area!

My best friend and I were excited to eat here since we hadn't since they first opened. By the end of our visit we were saddened by our decision to eat here. We were sat (not really greeted) immediately when entering. The restaurant is large and well lit. There is a good amount of seating available. When at our booth, the woman who sat us took our drink order and quickly returned with chips and salsa. The chips were crispy and lightly salted. The salsa was smooth with a low heat level. To eat, I had the Taco Salad (ground beef) and my best friend had #11 (Chile Relleno & Carne Asada Taco). My Taco Salad was decent in flavor but it was mostly meat and beans-very little lettuce. My best friend's #11 was extremely disappointing. The taco was flavorful and large in size. The chile relleno was uneatable. The relleno is covered in a very thick egg batter. On top of being super thick, the egg batter was super sweet. It was so bad she couldn't even choke down a 2nd bite. The rice and beans that it came with were seasoned well and delicious. For dessert we had the Fried Ice Cream. It was a standard Fried Ice Cream. After this experience, and leaving 1/2 of one of our meals behind due to it being uneatable, we decided to take this restaurant off of our "to eat at" list.

Went to try them for lunch one day. First off the place was very clean, staff friendly. Our waiter was great and on top of everything. I opted for the chili relleno combo plate which was amazingly one of the better I've had around here which came with 1 enchilada to which I opted for the ground beef. It's so hard to find decent ground beef in mexican restaurants as they all want to do the shredded which is not my preference. So this was really good. Hubby opted for the 2 enchiladas, 1 beef and 1 cheese to which he loved them both. Choice of beans and rice. They do have a small lunch menu which is 9.99 a plate and come with 1 item, rice and beans. You have to ask for the lunch menu. All in all, it was really good and gives us a new place to go too.

A great Mexican restaurant in what used to be a Chili's many years ago The food is great, especially the shrimp Caesar salad. Chips are freshly made out of stone ground corn and salsa has just the right amount of heat Staff is friendly but service can be a bit slow at times

We stop in here after a day of shopping about once a month. The food is yummy. Bright and big restaurant and bar, with plenty of booths and seating. There isn't a bad seat in the house. It's the usual mexican fare, and it's higher than some, and less than some. I have had the chimi and the Pozole (every weekend all day!) The guac is homemade, and I normally don't eat the chips and salsa, but I do like it here. We usually have margarita's, but the last time we were in they were off, and we aren't sure why. (which is why I took one star) Plenty of parking, and close to everything. Great for families, or date night. Go enjoy!

When you walk in you are immediately greeted by a friendly face! The friendliness doesn't end there. The service was spectacular. Great drinks and everything ordered looked amazing. I got steak tacos and a Cadillac margarita with a Tajin rim. Great place to have a great meal with friends!

Ordered guac for the table of 6 people and it was brought without plates. Flagged a server down for plates and they never came we had to ask again after waiting a while. Food wasn't the best and I wouldn't come back just based on the prices for what you're getting.

Stayed at the hotel across the street from this place. Was craving some decent food. We opted to try la Posada and I was quite impressed. Any other similar style food in town has not been that good. My asada plate was spot on how i wanted the meat cooked, beans and rice were great. My child opted for a quesadilla and my Mom ordered the shredded beef taco and one enchilada. Our only mistake made by our waiter was the taco turned out to be chicken but the food was still most excellent. Our server was Abel who was very kind and patient. I will be returning on a future trip to Carson City. Thank you for the great service!

Quality/Quantity - Complimentary Chips and Salsa - Love hearty chips, and my wife thought they were home made...? I think it was store bought... Quesabirria Tacos - 4 (small) tacos, a cup of sauce and a side of condiments, toppings. See pictures. If you have been following, I have been on a Birria Taco quest, trying this type of tacos every change I get. These were just okay. The sauce was good and it had generous meat/beef. But it lacked cheese?!?! See my last Birria Taco review at Mama Papa. Chimichanga - My wife really enjoyed this. She did not believe me when I told her that this was a deep fried burrito, lol. Generous portions, and she was only able to eat half. Guess we have dinner tonight. My wife and I felt the food was fairly authentic. BTW - EVERYONE ordered soup!! Menudo, Pozole, 7 Mares or Caldo de Res, etc! My wife really wanted to order this to try, but it was 70 degrees outside. Just means we have to come back. :) Kids menu also available. Atmosphere - Small location, the indoor and outdoor space was about the same size. Full of locals, everyone sort of knew each other which was cool. Semi open kitchen. One unisex restroom, I did not bother to check it out. Open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm as per Yelp. Plenty of parking Service - Overall good, welcoming. Counter or table service. We kind of stood out, and not in a negative way. The owner/cashier wanted to make sure we enjoyed our meal. The waiter was a hard worker, cleaning our table, and bringing out chips and salsa to us. Then we went to the counter to order. Price - No prices on the menus?!?! $30 + generous tip. Reasonably priced, but for a "hole in the wall"?!?! Owner Comment - Congrats on your success.

Every now and then I have one of those where have I been moments?…read moreWell, today was one of those times. I was at a plaza, not far from where San Marcos Grill is located. We were hungry and decided we wanted Mexican food. We've been really tired of the place we've been visiting as we are regulars there. We've been really wanting to try something new and I remembered there was a place down the street from the plaza we were at. San Marcos Grill is not very hard to find. It's just off the main drag going through Carson City on Winnie Lane. We pulled in to the parking lot and I have to be honest. My first thought was wow I hope this place is good. Because I had my doubts being in a strip mall. But you never know unless you try. So we walked, and I was amazed, how awesome this place looked I'm talking very festive, very clean. Tables were well spaced out. The lady greeted us immediately and pointed us to a table where we could sit at. She was there taking our drink orders very quickly. As we sat and looked over the menu, I could not get over the size and beauty of the bar that they have in this establishment. Complete with a great selection of any kind of drink, you could possibly want also TVs that are spaced around the establishment so if you want to watch a sport event, there's not a bad seat anywhere in the restaurant. After looking over the menu, our server came to our table was a very nice young lady and took our orders. My wife chose the beef enchiladas, and a taquito, which comes with rice and beans As I always do with a new establishment, I chose the Carnitas plate. I am a Carnitas aficionado and I always try everyone's Carnitas to see if they are legit. As we're waiting for our food, I noticed an older gentleman who was just helping everybody, come to find out he is the owner. I do not know his name, but he's very friendly guy and very warm and welcoming. As I said, the establishment is very spacious and clean. The bathroom was even clean, so it was a real joy to be there, even though we were waiting on our food, which did not take very long. My wife ordered a margarita that she really liked and I just had a Modelo with a lime. The gentleman I just told you about who I think is the owner brought our food to us and it looked amazing. Needless to say, we dug right into our food and I could not get over how great these Carnitas tasted. Not everyone can make really good Carnitas, they're either dry or they're cooked too long to were they are too crispy. These are so tender and flavorful. I enjoyed every bite. My plate came with rice in a small bowl of beans, a garnish of avocado, sour cream and pico. It also came with very hot corn tortillas The tortillas, however we're spoiled and tasted really old. In fact, you can smell how old they were. I let our server know, but it was no big deal because I had tortilla chips still on the table. She offered to get me some new tortillas, but it was fine because I only use the tortilla to kind of put my food onto the fork. So the tortilla chips worked just fine. I kept trying to eat the Carnitas slowly because I was savoring it so much. I did not want to hurry and be done with the meal too fast. This was our first visit here, and I can tell you that we will be back and probably become regulars. The staff here is very wonderful welcoming and I cannot recommend this place high enough to anyone that wants a great place to eat really great Mexican food. Kudos to the staff.!

For me, the tortilla chips and salsa are a good litmus test of how the food is going to be. All I can say is the chips were AMAZING. Crisp and flavorful. These chips were clearly homemade. The salsa was meh, but the chips were amazing. On this day, we were taken care of two wonderful Latina's, which added to the authenticity of the experience. I overheard our waitress saying she was from Mexico City. Legit. Our friends ordered the Sopas and Birria "soup". The Sopas looked amazing, with a hand formed tortilla and served with a variety of proteins. Our friend ordered the carnitas and chorizo, to have a couple of flavors to sample. She said that the tortilla was bit different than "her mom would make" but did not take away anything from the dish. Her husband had the Birria "soup". I don't know if that was the official name but that's what it looked like. LOL. Served in a rich broth (not oily) were wonderfully seasoned, tender chunks of Birria beef. Whenever a Mexican restaurant offers Menudo for breakfast, I'm down. Menudo it was. This dish was served with Tripe only, lacking the familiar hominy in the dish. I came to understand, the inclusion of hominy varies, depending on where in Mexico the recipe comes from. Well, all right, now I know. The kiss of death of Menudo is if the soup is "oily". No oily broth here. The dish was perfect, served all the normal accoutrement, including onions, cilantro and oregano. Now about the tortillas. We were told that the tortillas were hand made. O-M-G. These were the most delicious corn tortillas I have ever had. I couldn't stop eating them. OMG. Last but not least, my wife ordered the breakfast burrito. She ordered it with bacon instead of the normal Chorizo. Her breakfast burrito was legit. I don't know how they prepared their potatoes but man-o-man were they good. The burrito is also served with Mexican Queso. SO GOOD. The cheese added creamy goodness to the burrito. What a great meal. The restaurant is small but super clean and the staff were amazing. We are looking forward to sampling more of the menu. Que Bueno
