Sharing this review so that visitors to Chateau Versailles know what to expect. Là Petite Venise is an Italian inspired restaurant that may be a bit harder to find for those who want a more sit-down experience. To find it, you have to head towards the Royal Canal and when you get there, looking for a path that leads you into a courtyard that may look residential. That little courtyard also has a gift shop in it. This restaurant is not your quick order and take food to go spot. The menu is pricier than any other place at the Cheateau except for Ore. You eat at Ore if you don't want to explore the Gardens. You eat here if you are going to explore the Gardens and don't want to make the long walk back to Ore. My wife and I ordered two appetizers and an entree to share. The two appetizers were the Crostini and the Sea bass. The sea bass is served sashimi style with grapefruit and orange. This may be a more seasonal dish. The entree was the mezzi rigatoni. I also had a glass of wine and we also had a bottle of still water. The entire bill came to 64 euros. The price isn't bad, but if you want quick simpler food, there are other nearby options. Crostini and Rigatoni was delicious, and sharing the rigatoni was a good idea because it is a heavy dish! The seabass was okay. I love seabass, but it wasn't as good sashimi style and J don't believe the grapefruit/orange pairing really worked. My wife agreed, but this may be more of a personal preference. Service is great. France has a slow eating culture which means that a meal running 1.5 to 2 hours is the norm. If you want to eat quick and get your bill, going here probably is not what you want to do. However, if you still do, make sure to communicate with your server.

After a long tour of the palace Niki and I came across this Italian restaurant. We looked over the menu and decided to give it a try. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We ordered the melon with prosciutto, spahetti, and vegetable antipasti. All were delivered in a reasonable amount of time. I have no complaint, the dishes were very tasty and the presentation impressive. I will definately eat here again.

June 29, 2012 While visiting Versailles, I stumbled upon this small and elegant restaurant nestled among the trees and paths of the Versailles gardens on my way to visit the smaller palaces of King Louis and Marie Antoinette. They were not opened for lunch yet, but let me come in to look at their menu and take pictures. I went to a nearby boutique and then returned when they opened. My waiter's name was Jean-Luc. Jean-Luc spoke enough English to help me with the menu, since I do not speak French. I ordered a nice white wine along with their chicken salad. While waiting for my meal, Jean-Luc brought me a plate of flat breads and olives. His gift to me. The salad was delicious, the chicken moist and included sun-dried tomatoes, tomatoes and shaved cheese. Jean-Luc recommended a dessert that included a cup with strawberries, raspberries, kiwi, a chocolate mousse concoction, cherry treat and a biscotti. Jean-Luc brought an Espresso with dessert, his treat again. If you visit Versailles, don't miss this little jewel of a restaurant. And ask for Jean-Luc, he was a delight!

The chicken was blazing red giving hints of flavor that should have been and left me wanting for the seasons and spices promised in the name. I got none of the seasons of tandoori on my palate. My husband had the saumon with creme and he agrees it was pretty basic as well. The service saves this review as it was very friendly and I enjoyed speaking with our server. She loved that I was doing well with learning French which really does elevate the French experience. The ambiance was exactly what you hope for in the Parisian experience. It wasn't bad at all, it filled our bellies, but you can find more within the local town of Versailles and I recommend you do.

My wife ordered a Crepe with butter and brown sugar, while I went with the vegetable buckwheat Crepe. They were both cooked to order and the ingredients were fresh and the vegetables crisp. All in all, a very pleasant experience and we will be returning the next time we're in Paris!

I ordered the meat skewers (one beef and one chicken) and was quite pleased. It came with a decent bit of salad and we'll prepared fries. I speak quite limited French, but the bar tender was quite friendly and worked through the language with me. He offered several samples of the beers they had on tap before I made my selection. The place had a neighborhood bar feel to it, with regulars as well as tourists sitting side by side. I highly recommend the place for a quick bite to eat or a drink after visiting Versailles.

Except they know like us somebody living three streets away from this place. Le Moutbaron is a pub/bistro/billardhall and in the daytime it looks as if it's been closed since the 80ies. Kind of shabby, not that inviting in the daylight. But just like Robert Pattinson it looks way more inviting from dusk till dawn. We've been there twice. First because we just didnt't find any other place to get a beer on a saturday night in Versailles. It was kind of crowdet and the service needet a while. We also had a little problem communicating, since one of the waitresses (is the the plural of waitress? I hope so) spoke english just as bad as I speek french, but we tried our best and got what we ordered. (Two beer called Stella, better tham Kronbourg anyway). Actually we had a nice night there and even another Stella, whice was about 6 EUR, as far as I remember, a normal price in France. Oh right now on their webside they disclaim 4,80EUR. I don't remember it beein that cheap? Strange. Ah OK, I see it's the daytime card. At night (after 7 pm) 6EUR was right. Strange onlinecard though. The second time we went there for dinner accompained by our host living nearby and speaking better french than me. The menue was bilingual strange, because, unlike many places in Paris with only a french menue I don't think many tourist go astray to find this. I was very interested in fries on salad for about 5EUR. I wondered what this would look like. (I was serious, i did never mean to make fun of the French and their english) The boys went for burgers (about 12EUR). And fries. Big fat french fries. They're awesome. The waiter this night as far as I remeber one of the owners was speeking english quite good and considering his T-shirt was a fan of the british empier anyway. I asked for the fries on salad. Seriously. He looked a bit surprised and step by step we found out that it simply was a misspelling an meant was fries OR salad. In French it was spelled right of course, but as I said my French sucks. All of us laught about it and I got a really big bunch of fries and an even bigger salad on top. The food was OK, the boys liked their burgers, I think that the fries as well as the salad would have liked some more salt and pepper, but our host told us before that this is pretty normal in France. They generally spice very coutiously here. After all we had a fun night here. It was warm, we sat close to a window, and whenever the boys went out to have a smoke, they stood in frot of my window an I was leaning over the window bench like a kiosk lady. It's a fun place. You can definately go there. I never played billard there cause I hate billard. Ok, I didn't expect i was able to write such a long article in English. Please correct mistakes if you find them.
