John from Westchester; This tiny bakery is so much more than The size of it, situated in Mott haven Bronx, drove 40 mins from my home in Westchester to get the PUFF PASTRIES Fill withGUAVA and covered in powdered sugar, even though they're made in many Latin bakery's in NY There's something that they do that make them as delicious as they are So if in the Bronx stop by and visit Shop, nice people working hard with Great Latin pastries, the FLAN is a standout also

Hands down some of the best pound cakes you will ever find. A very small bakery in the South Bronx, that does a little of everything. From morning coffee before you hop on the 2/5 train, to sandwiches for lunch and school trips, to individual sweets for any time of the day. La Pastora Bakery is a very small bakery that you may miss if you walk too fast or are distracted by your phone but they do it all and they stay busy. The small store can only hold 6-8 customers comfortably while waiting for orders but I have witnessed more squeeze in. Do not let the size or location fool or deter you. I only go for the pound cakes and they have become my go-to contribution for any event (family/work) or potluck that requires me to bring something when I don't want to cook. If I'm honest the pound cakes are my go-to for a "just because" occasion also. They are always so moist and decadent, they will never be a bad choice. They come in Vanilla, Chocolate, and occasionally they have Red Velvet. You can usually get the Vanilla in a loft or large round and the chocolate (and red velvet) in the large round. I already regret sharing this little piece of heaven with the world of Yelp. Just A Note: This is a family owned bakery and sometimes they may or may not have what you want but it's a risk worth taking. (1st Review of 2020)

Cuban sandwich lunch looking so good

Wooooo! Omg the cakes are Delicious, the Cuban sandwiches are out of this world, and the customer Service is in whole other dimension. This small shop creates such big moments for their customers and I appreciate it all. I'm a teacher and I needed two last minute cakes the other day for an event for my school and they had cakes already to go! The dolce de leche was a hit with all staff as well as the pineapple. Let me also say the strawberry short cake I had personally and it is to die for. I'm literally eating their Cuban sandwich as i write this review today. Thank you pastora bakery for the care you shown me and the quality you put out! Made my weekend for sure =D

This cake was nothing of what we spoke about when I placed the order

Every worker was amazing. The empanadas were the best I've ever, ever had. Crispy outside. Great filling to ratio. Seasoned well. Not oily. The flavor was soft and delicate. The sangria was delicious. I highly recommend. The blackberry margarita was outstanding. Almost had a hint of a michelada to it. We ordered the platano relleno. Definitely order that. Again the best one I've ever had. Sweet, fresh and the juxtaposition of seasoning to meat and cheese and plantsin was beyond delicious. They also have good Columbian sodas. The apple and cola weren't overly sweet. The pork chicharon ceviche was again the best I've ever tasted. The chicharon here is impeccable. The onions weren't soggy and weren't potent. The blended well with the citrus and chicharon. The bandeja paisa was outstanding. Every protein was cooked perfectly. We ordered steaks that were juicy. The veggies amazing. The cgar grilled tasted yes. Theres an onion and tomato side I could eat plates with the rice. Thats how good it was. The guava and apple empanadas were like fall in the mouth. Well be back. Everything else was phenomenal too. Mango, chicken. Xoxo.

They are crispy, flavorful, and perfect with a pint. I'm a big fan of their classic beers, especially the American Pale Ale and the delightfully named Smile My Guy. The Bronx Brewery is a craft brewery that opened in the Bronx, New York in October 2014. It was…read morefounded by business partners Damian Brown, Chris Gallant, Steve O'Sullivan, Kirk Voltz and Niall Henry. O'Sullivan came up with the idea to start a brewery in The Bronx in 2009. To make this idea a reality, he enlisted the help of Brown (a homebrewer), Gallant (a former executive for Heineken), Voltz and Henry. Launching in 2011, the brewery initially started out simply as a brand that gypsy brewed with the help of the now defunct Cottrell Brewing Company in Pawcatuck, Connecticut. Bronx Brewery was the first brewery to launch in The Bronx since Rheingold Brewery left the borough in the 1960s. The first brew that Bronx Brewery launched was "Bronx Pale Ale". By 2014, the partners opened their own brick & mortar brewery at a former lace factory in the Port Morris section of the Bronx. A secondary taproom opened in Manhattan's East Village in late 2018, but closed in early 2025. A third taproom opened in The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards in Manhattan in November 2022. Although most of the company's co-founders have moved on to other ventures, Brown still serves as the head brewer. I visited the Bronx Brewery this past summer while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of breweries and pizzerias and this was my sixth and final stop of the day. The clientele at most craft breweries tends to be predominantly white men in their 30s and 40s. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the clientele at the Bronx Brewery was predominantly men AND women of color; pretty cool! Aside from the main taproom, the brewery features a large outdoor space (dubbed the "Backyard") which often hosts musical guests. There is also a seating area on the production floor which was dubbed "The Lab". Unfortunately, there was a private party going on when I visited and I was unable to visit the Backyard or the Lab. After looking over the beer menu, I decided to order draft pours of "Smile My Guy" (Session IPA) and "No Resolutions" (IPA). They were both pretty refreshing. The brewery is also home to its own Puerto Rican-inspired kitchen. Customers can order delicious empanadas or sandwiches from the "Empanology" menu or artisanal pizza pies from their "EmPie Artisanal Pizza" menu. After looking over the food menus, I ordered and enjoyed a delicious "Middle of Little Italy" (white wine citrus shrimp, banana peppers, fresh garlic, mozzarella) to pair with my beers. Overall, I had a really nice experience at the Bronx Brewery and I hope to visit their Hudson Yards location in the future!

Very pleasant we ordered from the variety of pre made food and one order from the kitchen only menu. We tried the roasted chicken with rice and red beans, 2 chicken Empanadas, and 1 order of fried pork chops with green plaintain (chuleta frita con tostones). Took about 10 minutes to come out, and it was very fresh and delicious. The chops were well seasoned and crispy. The tostones were freshly made and crispy. I put a ton of their homemade mojito (garlic) sauce all over everything, and my son proceeded to follow me with his meal. Their chicken was roasted perfectly. Moist and tender with flavors. They have a huge rotisserie pit behind the wall and out the way to save space. Genius. The Rice and beans were standard yet authentic. The Empanadas were a little dry, but I had to show my eldest about ketchu-mayo lol iykyk, then he liked it. He's a bit inexperienced in the cuchifrito area and almost got a brand drink. I had to cut him off and direct him to the fountain drinks because ,uh-uh, we drink from the house in a great cuchifrito spot son! I got him the passion fruit, and I got my usual sesame seed. He looked at me crazy y'all lmao I let him try my sesame drink, and he was somewhat impressed with it. But he loved his passion fruit already. The service was attentive, and I honestly don't know how the ladies balance it all. He was pleasantly surprised at the bill $32. 2 full large meals, 2 drinks, 2 Empanadas, and 1 alcapurria because I had to grab one when I saw the cook dump a fresh batch. I went home thinking damn I should have grabbed 3 more. They were loading fresh cuchifritos and I shouldn't have held back. Later always comes and left overs are always welcomed. Overall, we both loved it. Even taught him a few things in there. For the culture and the price point he loved it even more. I know for sure we will be back.
