Inside you will also find French pastries, coffees and teas, gelato, milkshakes, sandwiches and macaroons. I felt the most interesting items were the French pastries as they are cute and tasty as well. Also, they plate the pastries nicely when you dine in as an added bonus. I tried the Chocolate Royale and the Ruby. Chocolate Royale - a petit chocolate mouse slice with flat chocolate panels along the sides. It is delicate and tasty. If you're a chocolate lover, this is definitely up your alley. Ruby - visually this looks like a strawberry Hershey kiss, with red powder on the exterior and a top piece of foil to resemble foil on the wrapper of a hershey kiss. Inside, it's filled with a strawberry cream and has a chocolate base. I just wish there was more chocolate in this one. They have plenty of seating inside as well as along the sidewalk. Inside you have the more fancy tables, whereas outside, they're more weather resistant and not as upscale in appearance. The soft drinks to drink along with your sweets are in a cold case along the hotel side of the space and you just take them to the register as you order. One of the most surprising things when you come here are the relatively affordable prices as you might expect them to be more for being a coffee shop attached to a 5-star hotel with a helipad.

What's nudged this place up to 5 stars for me is they have really improved their coffee game, specifically their quality of cappuccino's. Previously it seemed more of latte, but now to me its a legit Capp. Their choice of pastries hasn't changed, which gives you a good assortment of choices and they have added an additional barista or server which also is a nice touch for service. The only niggling items, parking can be tough, so you'll have to either walk a block or be quick to find a place close by. Regardless, definitely give this place a go to come for a pastry and coffee.

The bakery itself is simple and clean. Be respectful of the place and help clean up after yourself. Not one customer made a mess there. Everyone are respectful to the sweet owner. The drinks itself are simple, reasonably priced on the cheaper side. Not sweet at all so ask if you want it to be sweeten. Quality and perfect desserts. Just semi-sweet so if you have a crazy sweet tooth, this is not your bakery. Again, prices are extremely reasonable and I see lots of locals who enjoy coming here. Prices are actually on the lower side of what I see throughout Houston. Passionfruit tart was my favorite, if you need someone to tell you what to try.

This store is tucked away in the corner of a strip mall so there is plenty of space for parking. The inside has a good number of seats and tables for customers to sit down and enjoy. There is also an area that has children's books- in both Japanese and English! I was thrilled to see some of the books that I grew up with. The glass display showcases a variety of different pastries and sweets. There is also a separate menu above for sandwiches, crepes, and quiches! I was indecisive so I asked the owner for recommendations and she chose the Mont Blanc and Total Raspberry Tart. Both pastries were perfect- the tart has a raspberry cream on the bottom and the fruit was fresh and naturally sweet. Not to mention, the crust was absolutely delicious. The Mont Blanc was just as tasty. The chestnut puree, Chantilly cream, and crust were all *chef's kiss* And the best part of it all is that the pastries were not too sweet (for those of you who are new to Asian pastries, they are meant to be lighter and not overly sweet)! While my friend and I were enjoying the pastries, I was able to have a brief conversation with the owner and she was incredibly welcoming and kind. Overall, I was thrilled to be able to finally try Chez Kobayashi Pastries and I can't wait to come back and try their savory dishes! ごちそうさまでした‍

So, I usually order the croissants, which are big and appropriately flaky. I don't know if they make thier own dough. It is an intense project of ensuring the dough and butter mesh to appropriately create the steam in the dough. They could be using a lamination machine. Fun fact: I always make croissants from scratch. I also make a salmon en crute which I use canned salmon, cream cheese, peppercorns crushed, lemon juice and a pinch of lemon zest. I stuff my mixture in my croissant and top it with everything but the bagel seasoning from Trader Joe's. I also make a great raspberry almond cheesecake croissant. I add the raspberry and almond paste to the softened cream cheese. I add a bit of vanilla extract, one egg, and a little sour cream. Maybe 3/4 cup. Flo Paris has delicious banana bread. I absolutely love that it's not that sweet! They also have a delicious quiche Lorraine that is simple the best. They have a good variety of croissants. The space is beautiful, clean, and has such a charming ambiance that makes you want to sit and stay awhile. The hardest part? Deciding what to order because everything looked absolutely incredible. The pastries and food display alone are enough to make you stop and stare. I ended up choosing a couple of items and every single bite was amazingly fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can truly taste the quality. The service was just as impressive. Everyone was so friendly, patient, and helpful, especially while I was trying to decide. They truly made the whole experience even better. (We decided on a few items: Opera pastry. Chocolate chip cookie. Double chocolate cookie. Volcano pastry with ice cream. Hazelnut coffees. Loaded omelette!) If you're looking for delicious pastries, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere, Flo Paris is a must-visit. Highly recommend, specially if you have a big sweet tooth like me! It's never too early for ice cream either!

However, we…read moredecided on Desseire as an Asian-flavored French techniqued bakery sounded like an excellent option. Its in a less trafficked area of Chinatown and sort of tucked away in a corner of the strip mall. It has a casual pick up and go vibe, with display cases of baked goods and a couple options on the counter (dont miss the caneles). The cashier (potentially also the baker) was friendly and was super patient with us as we were making decisions and then noticing a special and adding extra goods (sorry for making you box and unbox so many times!) Anyways, all the baked goods we got were reasonably priced around $3-4. They also have some larger tiramisu options but we didn't grab any this time. I got a canele, a variety of choux, and some cupcakes. I enjoyed the canele and it had a very nice crust but the center wasn't as custardy as some I've had but regardless I enjoyed it and I also rarely see caneles so it was a nice treat. The choux were the winners for me though, filled with various creams (I got mango, pandan, and pistachio). I really liked the choux pastry and found it light and crisp. The filling was also perfect, light, held its texture and didn't spill out as I was eating it, and perfect level of sweetness for me. I also enjoyed flavor of the cupcakes but I did think they were slightly dense. Overall, this was such a great find and glad we stopped by. It may end up becoming one of my staples to have pastries for the week!

We grabbed a few unique desserts: Durian dessert (for the adventurous ) Japanese cheesecake Matcha tiramisu Unfortunately, we had a few more stops to make, so we didn't get to enjoy them fresh -- but here's the breakdown: Durian: Very true to the fruit and surprisingly light. Not my personal favorite, but if you love durian, I'd absolutely recommend trying it here. Japanese Cheesecake: Comparable to Uncle Tetsu, but with a creamier topping that paired really well with the soft, fluffy texture. Matcha Tiramisu: Easily my favorite. It had that rich, bitter, earthy matcha flavor that tells you they're using quality ingredients -- super potent in the best way. Honestly, the matcha tiramisu alone makes me want to come back and try all their other tiramisu flavors. I already recommended this spot to a friend right after!

I like their milk buns, cocoa bun, egg tarts, and their drinks are pretty good as well. Their app is not the best but worth it if you go often enough to get points for free items. I think the staff at this location are friendlier than the others that I've been to in Houston, but their selection is not as good as the Bellaire location for sure. They sell out of popular items fairly often. And I went an hour before closing once because I happen to be in the area, there's almost no bakery items left by then. Good to know that it's selling out by the end of the day because that means it's fresh, but I wish they were better about restocking popular items at least midday.
