Fantastic mani/pedi!! I felt so pampered..could close my eyes and relax while I enjoyed feeling spoiled because I feel fortunate to even be able to enjoy going to get my nails done on occasion. The leg and foot massage..hand and arm massage were WONDERFUL!! Not to mention, the detail on making my nails look all cleaned up and fresh with wonderful colors to choose from. I should have asked their names..there was a woman who has had the business here in Marquette for 24 years, and a gentleman did my nails. I told them I felt like I was back in the city again!! Worst gel manicure I've ever had in my life! This poor place- clearly things are rough if they are one of the last businesses standing in a decrepit mall. But Marquette MI is not a place with plenty of nail salons, and after calling around, this was the only one I could walk into. And after walking in, I knew this was going to be either the best or worst manicure I've ever had. Sadly, it was the latter. The problem here is that they only have one gel drying machine, and it's crazy old and disgusting with dried up gel inside and two lights that don't work. The guy told me I'd have to wait 5 minutes per hand per coat of paint in order for it to dry. I kinda freaked and told him I didn't have that much time, so he rushed it. Big mistake. 3 days later, my nails are a total disaster. I googled it, and buying a brand new salon quality gel drying machine only costs $125. I paid them $45 for my terrible experience (which btw is much more expensive than I pay in real Los Angeles where I actually live). I hate leaving bad reviews, I never do it, but guys seriously spend this very small amount of money so that you can actually do the service that you are promising to people. And finally- seriously please look at my nails. This is 3 days later, with a GEL manicure. This is insane! read more

This place is so dated. Couches from 1995 still in the lobby. Same rude employees who obviously hate there jobs. Sanitation is at an all time low. Nail clippings all over the floor they even use the same pumice stone they used on other customers on you! Disgusting. This place takes advantage of people. You pay and they do nothing to ensure you had a good experience. They are like Pay Me! After the man working on my pedicure yelled at me for giving him instructions on my pedicure, seeing there are some things he missed in Beauty school. So I take my two granddaughters in for the 3 of us to enjoy getting nails and toes done together when all of a sudden the guy starts screaming and the gal starts yelling at him "he's not doing it right" then next thing you know we're in the middle of a foreign language screaming match all while doing my granddaughters nails - I stepped in to ask what the problem was and that if the nails are not being done properly they need to re-do them or give me my money back! How this place has any customers is beyond me. While visiting Marquette, I needed a broken nail fixed and every nail salon in the area was booked. I thought how bad could one nail and a polish change be? Well....... The place is dirty, and looks extremely unsanitary! The gel polish selection was a joke, about 15 choices that were off colors in my opinion. One nail and a polish change later was 32.00 and the new nail is digging into my finger causing pain. The worst place I have been to in my life. Disgusting sanitation practices, the man who did my nails cut my cuticles to the point of bleeding, and instead of soaking my acrylic nails for removal he peeled them off with a scraper. So painful and rolled his eyes when I asked to soak them. After my pedicure they had me walk barefoot across the dirty floor. Crazy. The man who did my nails LITERALLY stood over my shoulder as I wrote my tip on receipt. I paid $55 when I left and felt like I needed to be paid instead for the disgusting and unprofessional treatment. read more

I give two starts because at least I wasn't bleeding when I left the salon, and I was totally desperate for a polish change. I live in Lansing and travel for work. I keep Shellac polish on my nails and made the mistake of leaving the Lower Peninsula sporting a dark color that was starting to chip and peel. I needed some nail attention and mistakenly figured that there would be several nail salons in Marquette. When I realized that this was the only game in town I headed over, but I knew upon heading into a largely empty mall that this probably wouldn't be good. The salon is very run down, although this doesn't indicate a bad nail job necessarily. When I asked for a Shallac manicure, I was directed to stick my hands into a small bowl of Acetone for upwards of ten minutes to get the old polish to come off. This didn't work and started to make my hands feel disgusting and dry, so the manicurist resorted to trying to buzz the old polish off using the drill that they use for acrylic nails. She eventually got most of it off. She slapped on my chosen pale pink, paying no attention to the cuticle and painting right over it. I haphazardly stuck my hand under a UV light, frequently switching them depending on which one she was painting when she wasn't running from one client to another. There was no small timed Shellac curing machine to be found, and the result was sad. The owners are extremely nice and personable people, and there's not a deep bench of nail salons in the Marquette area. In the future I'll be sure to have my manicure needs taken care of before I leave the lower Peninsula! read more

I have never been so disappointed in a nail place in my life. Completely disrespectful to both me and my friend who went in together. I picked a black polish with a full set, (usually I get this done on regular mail, not acrylic) and it was horrible. He did only one coat of black nail polish & one coat of clear coat. The nails were too big for my regular nails, and they make you pay before the polish is even on. Also the man doing my nails deliberately asked me what "was wrong" with my friend, because she asked for a different height of nail. Overall, wouldn't recommend to anyone. read more

Beware! Completely unsanitary and I had a horrible experience. From the second I sat down the male nail tech was trying to hit on my friend which made her completely uncomfortable. He kept saying that he was single and that she needed a "macho man" to take care of her, he even went as far as flexing his muscles. He kept asking her about where she lived, why she was single and when she didn't answer him he started asking me questions about her. Originally my friend wanted her nails done too but he had already made her feel so uncomfortable and the color choices for Shellac were extremely limited. She called to make an appointment somewhere else which apparently made him very upset, he started speaking angrily in another language to his coworker. Meanwhile he was still buffing my nails with the electric nail tool, he wasn't paying attention to what he was doing and nicked my cuticle making me bleed! When I said that it had hurt he told me that I was too sensitive and that I had moved causing him to nick me, I never moved at all. He continued the process of applying the tips and acrylic to my nails and ended up nicking me 3 more times before he was done! Once is bad enough but 4 times?! They ended up looking like total crap but he was almost done so I just let him finish them so that I could get out of there as soon as possible. They looked so awful that I went to a different nail salon immediately afterwards and had them completely removed. The tips weren't even glued to my nail at all, there were noticeable spaces where I could see between my natural nails and the tips that he had applied. The second nail tech informed me that if I had kept them on I most likely would've gotten a nail fungus and could possibly end up with an infection because of the open cuts on my cuticles from him. This place is a nightmare I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy! If I could give negative stars I would. Please do not go there even if you're just getting your nails polished! read more

Went here on a regular basis a long time ago. Never had a bad experience. Came back after moving back to the area and am a regular customer again. The ladies who make my hands look young and beautiful are so nice. I get compliments on my nails everywhere I go. We have wonderful conversations about traveling, music, culture, our families and all kinds of topics. My daughter has the same great experiences here. Prices are fair and sanitation precautions are taken. If you want a cup of coffee and modern, trendy surroundings, go to a coffee shop. Went in to get a full set and a pedicure. I hadn't even gotten done getting my nails trimmed on my toes. When I tried to change the setting on my massage chair. The male doing my toes grabbed the remote out of my hand and told me I was not allowed to change it. I insisted on changing it because the setting it was on was painful for me. He then told me that people like me are responsible for breaking all their massage chairs. I walked out flustered and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Please la nails refund me or do my nails over, I was just there today and my nails from your so called shlack (gel) top coat that was 5$ extra is chipping my color all over. Not happy!!!!I tipped you seven dollars also and I shouldn't have because the man hollered at me and I would of tipped $10.00 if he was nicer!!!! As I was getting my nails dried I told him to come and look that they were bubbling up over the color ( the gel was) and I don't even think gel is suppose to go over color, but anyways he hollered at me and told me "I told you not to move" and I told him that "I did not move at all", and he hollered again, "me told you don't move," I said "I did not move sir". But, after he seen the bubbling he put more gel over it and you couldn't see the bubbles as much, but stil could see them a little, but after that he puts me underthe dryer again and when the light went off he says, "your done"!!!! So after about 1/2 hour I noticed that the schlack (gel) polish was chipping all over the place on top of the original color!!!! I want a refund or my nails painted over!!!! I will take a pic of nails right now so I have the proof. I wish there was an attachment on here where you could load up your photo!!!! P.S. The only reason I give one star is because I was going to Marquette with a friend as she had dentist and I was looking to waste about an hour of my time, and I tell ya, it surely was wasted!!!! read more

I like this place! They are super nice and do such a good job of making my heels smooth. One fella doesn't speak much english but the others do-accented-so perhaps some people have misunderstood. I get a regular pedicure there and like the price as well as the result. I do agree it could be cleaner but the instruments used on me appear to be cleaned with every client . I don't get manicures so cant comment on those. If you don't like what is being done to you, Speak up. They have been accommodating to me. read more

I was warned by my friend's secretary not to come here. Like the other review says, it's hard to get a good manicure in Marquette on such short notice. I had the older gentleman basically take off the old nail polish and just give me a clear coat. I paid $20 including tip and the clear polish almost peeled entirely off by the third day. Part of the problem would be that I think they use too much oil around your cuticles. When they ask you to wash your hands free of it, not all of the oil is coming off. The associate did wipe my nails off with the acetone, but he did not get into the crevices of my nail bed where plenty of oil had seeped in and eluded the soap and water. When he painted my nails, the polish did not stick to my nails on the sides. Even after I made him go over my nails a third time with the polish. He completely missed the sides that weren't within his direct line of vision, under the lamp. The polish was clear so I could see that it bubbled up underneath in less than 24 hours from my visit. That was definitely a waste of $20! read more

TERRIBLE. Waited 2 hours to get my nails done, while they told us the wait would be 20 minutes. I sat there waiting while 2 other workers were sitting around doing nothing and could of easily done my nails. Once we (my friend and I ) finally got in the chair, the man was falling asleep as he was doing her nails! Only put one coat of polish on so you could still see her nail. And for me, it looked as if a 3 year old could of done a better job, the polish started half way down my nail and was filed crooked. Never Going Back There Again!!! Biggest waste of money. read more

Rude, the guy Steven told me he had to hurry with my pedicure because he has four people so he wasnt goin to get the calluses off. He made excuses after excuse told me I new to make an appointment with the girl because she is the one who will get the callus off. He was rude to everyone who walked in. I asked him then what is a pedicure? After a little spat he agreed to scrub them off. Then talk about me in Chinese and some english about me to the other workers.
