Among the Top 5 Italian restaurants I have ever been to. Forget touristy North End, La Morra is the real deal. Tuscan meatballs are extraordinary. Tagliatelle is home made. I'll be back. 5 Stars. Wait staff is also tremendous. read more

La Morra - Really cute kitchen - Italian Near Me - Brookline, Massachusetts

I have never been so disappointed in restaurant week meal in my life..Not only did we wait a half hour in between courses, but the portions were horrendous!!! My lasagna was the size of my big toe... not to mention the additional $4 you have to pay for whatever reason!!! This place was literally the size of my living room and hard to move around...very uncomfortable. It was 40 degrees inside, so cold...I literally have a cold now. The dessert was half of my palm, the dessert that my friends got was bite size snicker sizes... I'm so overwhelmed by the wackness that is this place, I can't even deal!!! The staff was nice..Oh and I was charged $70 for a $38 restaurant week meal. aside from the drink that I got which was about $13.00. Definitely won't be recommending this place, Ever!!! read more

My mom took me to La Morra tonight for an amazing meal. The food was great, not perfect, but excellent. I had linguine carbonara as an amazing starter. so rich and salty. so good. My mother had Pork Osso Bucco which lacked flavor that i was hoping for. The service was great, musta had my water refilled like 10 times... not overbearing though. not only that but the waitress was cute :D The price i'd say was the biggest drawback. It wasn't outrageous but it was way out of my price range. luckily mother dearest was paying and so four stars it is read more

Strangely, I have never been to La Morra on weekend. On a weeknight, La Morra seems to have two seatings. One from 5-6 pm with an elderly crowd, and one at 8-10pm with the yuppies. I, normally, like to stay downstairs to people watch, you can often catch owners of other restaurants eating there. If you are on a date, upstairs is where you want to be. Service tends to be slow, so be patient. I like to start with the small plates. My favorite thing is the fried sage leaves with anchovies. I also love the small plates of fresh made pasta. They are the perfect portion especially if you had a few small plates and apps beforehand. Also, if you are unsure what you want to drink be sure you describe the kind of wine you like to the bartender. He is pretty good at picking out something that suits your taste. read more

La Morra is a excellent Italian restaurant in the Brookline area. The space is small but inviting. The service was very courteous and sharp. The food was excellent and cooked exactly to order. It is nice they offer different portion sizes for their entrees as well!! The only issue is the location is random and parking is literally right off route 9 which gets very busy. Still a great restaurant. read more

We have been to La Morra before for dinner and have always had a wonderful meal. But this Sunday, Easter, we went for brunch and it was truly amazing! First the offered the very best doughnuts i have ever had...homemade, rolled in wonderful cinnamon sugar and light ...melted in your mouth. Then, I had fresh fruit with yummy sweetened ricotta. My husband had some delicious oatmeal ( I wrested the spoon from his hand so I could taste it!) with a delicious blueberry sauce. After that we both had the most fabulous frittata made with fresh mushrooms and fontina cheese. We were pretty full by then, but my husband got some bread pudding and again allowed me to taste it...Heavenly! The other nice thing about this place is that the servers are so personable and sweet. I always feel as though i am almost in the home of someone i know...who just happens to be a MUCH better cook than i am! Love it. read more

La Morra is our favorite local fine restaurant, and we have been glad to be able to order meals from them throughout this challenging year. Such wonderful, flavorful food and delicious cocktails! There is great pricing with the family meals and the three-course dinners. I cannot ever order from La Morra without including the fried sage leaves, and others in my family think the arancini are great starters also. Nice to have the options of small or large orders of pasta. Thank you for sharing your talents with us by providing great food and drink for body and soul. read more

My family and I went to La Morra for my sister's graduation dinner. Everything was perfect from the attentive waitstaff to the rustic atmosphere. The menu had new twists on classic foods and a very thorough wine selection to match (organic as well!) I had a fantastic time and we stayed there enjoying each others company until it was almost time to close. GO HERE on a date or with friends and take time to enjoy good food, wine and company at this restaurant. The owners, Jen and Josh (chef) will be happy to have you as their guest. read more

This restaurant was absolutely amazing, from service to food. We arrived about 5 minutes before our Friday evening reservation and were seated within a few minutes in the upstairs part of the restaurant. The ambiance was great for a nice laid back meal, exposed brick and candlelight provided a nice warm feel. Everyone who worked there was extremely polite and knowledgeable about the menu. The staff worked amazing together and provided top notch service. The food was some of the best I have had in Boston. We started with the Asparagus appetizer and Meatball with Prisciutto. Both of these were amazing and portioned perfectly. After our apps we moved onto two of the best entrees I have had in a long time. The Italian based menu was phenomenal, I could literally eat anything on there. All of this came for a well valued price. High recommend. read more

We came here for restaurant week, and every course was more delicious then the next. The roasted zucchini salad was perfectly charred and and flavorful. The corn ravioli was scrumptious, the fusilli was delicious. The eggplant parm was really crispy, and the steak was perfectly cooked. The chocolate mint panna cotta was really delectable. The service was also really wonderful, everyone was really attentive. read more

This is easily one of the absolute best places for Italian in Boston. My wife and I had date night this past Saturday and we were one again impressed with the experience. We were greeted and seated by the owner who recommended a great bottle of white wine. We ordered several of the small plate apps and they were all fresh and delicious (our favorite was the arancini). For dinner I always get the bolognese which is easily the best pasta dish I've ever had. This time we also branched out and got the cavatelli and I'm so glad we did. The texture and flavors in the dish were exceptional. The service was friendly and prompt as well. Make no mistake, LaMorra belongs in a class of their own. read more

We went here the other night for the first time because of Pomodoro's cash only policy, and were not disappointed. Our waitress was attentive and patient with us, and even asked the chef to prepare something special for our vegetarian taste. We shared the rucola con carciofi, the ravioli alle castagne and a specially-prepared gnocchi dish. Everything was of the highest quality and prepared and presented flawlessly. I savored every bite. We also enjoyed the assorted cheese plate for dessert. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because as the restaurant filled up, we got a little bit lost in the shuffle, and when a different server brought our cheese plate, he was pleasant enough but did not explain the assortment of cheeses to us. And, parking is a little tricky. I would go back any time. read more

This place is in an odd location - right near the Brookline Village T stop. Not really near anything else... but regardless, the inside is cozy and rustic and the place gets hoppin'. Definitely worth a detour. The food was fantastic - we came for restaurant week and instead of the normal 3 courses for $33.11, we got 4. Everything on the menu looked delicious and creative - it was hard to decide. There are lots of options, no matter what your taste. Portion sizes were perfect... and I was very impressed by how every detail of my meal was delicious, and really came together. Service was also friendly and accommodating. This could be one of my new favorite spots! Definitely on the top of my list. read more

Just went here for restaurant week - and my birthday - and unlike most around Boston that create a "special" (read: higher profit margin) menu, La Morra just did what they always do - offer the same menu at a fantastic price. The food was outstanding. I had the sole, the homemade mozzarella and shared a few other things at the table. The sole was perfect - Josh knows how to work a fryer, no doubt. The mozzarella was also outstanding. My wife got the stuffed olives, white anchovies, salad with anchovy dressing. A weirdo with an anchovy fetish. Nonetheless, all were excellent. Presentation and pacing were excellent, especially considering the complexity of the table - only one getting the restaurant week menu, one getting only apps as entrees, etc. etc. I rate within the segment - 5 stars for one of the best Italian places you can actually afford (nope, I'm not counting Rialto) in/around Boston. read more

La morra is wonderful. The ground floor seating area is right next to the bar and so is quite bustling. Requesting a table upstairs when you make your reservation is a good idea if you mind the bustle when enjoying some of the absolutely divine creations they serve on your plate. The meatballs are melt in your mouth wonders. The pasta is good. The service is warm. The servers might not be at your table the entire time but i personally enjoyed the time I was given. My mouth is watering already. read more

La Morra is my absolute favorite restaurant in the area. It is always the location that I go to celebrate and treat myself after a hard week. The staff is very attentive from the moment you enter the restaurant. They'll take your coat or help you take any drinks from the bar to your table if needed (usually the second floor). In my latest visit, the food was delayed because of the restaurant week chaos. However before our table even noticed, the staff came over to apologize and give us a small plate to share. The manager also stopped by to apologize once again and offered us some more food. Their attentiveness is always appreciated. I'm in love with their seasonal cocktails and their wine list is superb. Their food has classic staples with sides that change based on the season. My favorite dishes are their salads, tagliatelle, hanger steak, and cornish hen. Always delicious and there are plenty of options for those who do not eat meat. read more

La Morra is such a stellar restaurant with phenomenal dishes and great service. I love their wine selection as well. My top favorite meal is their Bolognese. Their small plates never disappoint. Their dessert menu is lovely as well. La Morra is great for intimate meals, or catching up with friends. I love the food and there's always parking available. read more

Superb! From the greeting at the door, to the service and the cuisine. When I return to Boston, La Morra will be my first choice.

Wonderfully tasty food. Subtle flavors. Fresh and delicious, even during Covid. Thank you La Morra!

Visited during restaurant week. The menu was configured so they could still offer all the same items. Lucky for us. We were able to sample more than we probably would have otherwise. Service was good until the coffee was forgotten but no real complaints. I had the corn, tomato salad. The dressing was delightful. Pasta bolognese was delicious but not usually made with roasted brisket mixed in giving an unusual roasted and smoky flavor. Risotto was light and creamy. Pork over polenta was flavorful and decadent. The cannoli cake desert was a treat. The accolades in articles and reviews were justified. We will return. read more

Fantastic. The bolognese was amazing, full of tender flavorful short rib and a bit of smokiness. And I'm not usually a fan of that particular type of sauce. Not a lot of pasta selections, so maybe not the best choice if you're dying for your specific dish. The noodles were made on site and were out of this world. Ambiance was good, service was great. I'm eager to go back and try another dish there, but I'm tempted to get the exact same thing! read more

Modernist Italian theme achieves brilliant presentations but lackluster textures and flavors; a serious lack of seasonings and herbs. Disingenuous wait staff, with an uninspiring setting. Menu was overpriced for what you got. read more

Love this place; one of our go tos for fancy dinners. A little pricey but worth it. You always get a little surprise gift from the chef, and the ricotta you get to dip your bread in is worth the trip alone. Everything is always great and many items change seasonally. Love it!! read more

Delicious! Bolognese so satisfying. We're happy to support this wonderful local restaurant.

My food was overcooked and really dry. It was really dark, and when my aunt asked our waiter if we can turn on the light next to us he said no because the cord broke earlier and there was nothing he can do about it ( he could've moved us to a different table ( which we saw was empty downstairs). It was really loud and couldn't hear each other talking. read more

This has been my favorite restaurant for (I want to say) over 10 years, so last night was a surprise. The Tagliatelle Al Ragu had brisket? Not the bolognese for which La Morra is known. The lamb on bruschetta was not an optimum combination, the bruschetta being a brick without the benefit of sufficient jus to soften (more of a firm popover consistency would have been better - luckily a serrated steak knife had been provided that would have been odd as the lamb was sliced but it helped with the bruschetta ) and the lamb was unremarkable (the radish slice garnish were excellent.) The cheese plate had three cheeses but two were so similar as to be almost interchangeable. This is the first time that we have been here since The Heritage opened - maybe that has absorbed some of the normal attention from the kitchen. read more

They have the best Ribollita in Boston. The four course prix-fixe menu has a lot of options to choose from but the portions are small. And their biscotti is too good read more

I brought my family here for my graduation dinner, and it was simply excellent. We started with the cheese platter and fried olives (from the tapas menu), both of which were excellent. Appetizers also included fresh and hearty bread with a unique and tasty ricotta and olive oil spread. For my entree, I enjoyed the Malfaldine with Crab, which was easily one of the best pasta dishes I have had in my entire life. The pasta was very fresh and cooked perfectly, and the sauce was the most vibrant and flavorful I have ever had. The dish was topped with a crispy soft shell crab, which was perfectly flavored and struck just the right balance between crispy and tender. We finished things off with the Sorbet Trio and the Bonna (forget the exact name, but it's basically a pudding parfait) both of which were delicious and the perfect finishing touch to the meal. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, and he even put a candle on my dessert to celebrate my graduation. TLDR - excellent Italian food (even better than I've had in the North End) and warm, friendly service - would highly recommend read more

Mediocre food. Nothing memorable for sure. Ravioli were soggy and sauce was watery. Wine list was okay. Above all it's another one of those places calling themselves Italian restaurants only because they serve pasta, have a pseudo Italian menu, and carry some Italian wine. read more

Although the parking situation here is not ideal, the food is worth it. They start you off with homemade bread and house made ricotta which is creamy and delicious. I ordered the seasonal risotto with tomatoes, parmesan and basil- I highly recommend it. It was so flavorful and indulgent that I couldn't stop eating it! Although the food was great, the service was a bit slow given that it wasn't busy. I'll still be coming back soon! read more

La Morra offers fantastic food at a reasonable price. While most places in Boston are concerned more about the experience than the food, La Morra sticks to the Italian tradition of preparing simple meals with great flavor combinations. I highly recommend the bolognese. One of my favorite spots in Boston/Brookline! read more

I just like this place. It's small and cosy. So far I've had enjoyed my meals everytime. I see the other reviews about it being hit or miss, but haven't had that experience after 4 visits. Had a fantastic spinach agnolotti in a parmesian cream sauce. The location is unfortunate, as it's small, non-descript and easy to miss on Rt. 9... but you can usually find street parking, or use the valet. read more

I have to say, this last time I ate at La Morra, I was kind of disappointed. The food doesn't seem to be as good as it used to be. I have always thought the food was way too salty, and that's still the case. Overall, I and the other two people I was with weren't thrilled with the food, especially considering the price. The desserts were wonderful, but that's about it. The service, however, is impeccable! Will I eat there again? Hmmm...with all the restaurants in Brookline, not likely. It's a shame, since I can walk there. Oh well.... read more

My wife and I had a delightful anniversary dinner at La Morra tonight. The service stood out the most. Our (gentleman) server carried on effortless conversation with us as soon as we entered the restaurant. He was clearly informed and comfortable describing the ingredients in each menu item. I was also very impressed the hostess and waiter both remembered I was a vegan from when I called in my reservation. My wife had salad and the steak dish, while the chef made me a vegan kale salad and pasta primavera. All were tasty and generously portioned. Our only knock was the bread service; they only give one slice per person, hand-served from a large basket. The homemade bread left us hankering for more, but the server never returned with any. La Morra has street parking and a small lot next door. Atmosphere is cozy. read more

Got the gnocchi for takeout and it was hot and delicious. Very light pasta and the tomato sauce tasted really fresh.
